5 years down the line after performing my ETS surgery, I share some of the distressing side effects of the surgery. One thing I forgot to mention in the video, the hospital doctors at MAX hospital Saket never told that I would lose sweating on my arms, face, and head as well. They only said, there will be compensatory sweating. Many good neurologists don't recommend this surgery firsthand. So do I. I believe surgery is an extreme corrective measure and should be avoided, if possible.

Hi, You can read my previous comments on this video. But they are old now and a lot of new understanding I have had on this surgery. Here is my conclusion. ETS has a multitude of side effects which are unknown to medical fraternity(doctors and surgeons) because they manifest years later- 5 to 10 years even. Compensatory sweating is most widely known side effect- which is sweat on the back and chest that can be 2-3 times your original palmar sweat. It can cause severe discomfort, make you compromise life. Another is, bitter and painfully cold hands in winters(Raynaud's Disease) which is due to the absence of heat flow to the hands after ETS. The hands and fingers get so cold that you cannot hold a mouse on a computer, do any work with hands at all. In General, ETS thwarts all autonomous functions in the Upper body- those ants running on your face, ears red hot suddenly, hair raising on hands and arms, wetness in eyes. These are all essential autonomous responses of your body. Now, they are what makes you who you are- human. They ensure you can feel intensity of emotions, they ensure quality of life. Now, they are not indispensable to existence of life - your life can go on without them, but you will feel dead in the head. I joined an ETS support group on Facebook and found many horror stories like mine who go through he aftermath of ETS. Some are living on the edge and some couldn't make it. I grappled with suicidal thoughts for three years after getting ETS and how it affected my life. I don't recommend ETS to anyone. Bilateral or Unilateral. No. Nervous system is far too complicated to be played with. don't play chance with your life.

Yes it is true, miradry has changed my life completely! I did it in Skin temple clinic when they launched miradry in India. its been 90% less sweat from my underarms now. i dont even use deos anymore. Good informative video. I hope you are doing good. One small clarification is that skin temple clinic is in lodhi road and not lajpat nagar as you told somehwere. they are close by areas so no problem. Tc

Again, I am reiterating it for a better understanding of the nature of compensatory sweating. Anyone going in for the surgery assumes the compensatory sweating would comprise of the palmar sweat only which is usually anxiety-driven because generally it appears in conditions of stress while working under testing circumstances. People generally would rather accept sweat on any other part of the body than palms, because they are the primary functional tool and aid. But ETS plays with the heat balance of the body so there is another component of sweat that is present in compensatory sweating and that is from the reduced surface area available to body for heat dissipation. This is the unexpected outcome that startled me and brought me a great amount of distress. The body’s trigger point for sweating gets lowered and it begins to trigger sweat even in mild conditions. So, usual activities that never triggered sweat on the body (only on the forehead maybe) will start to trigger sweat droplets or drippy sweat on the body. This sweat becomes a botheration when it permeates through clothing- legs, chest or torso any part of the body may bear the brunt of it in the long term. Any activty which required only mild effort like carrying stuff - few items here and there, moving or standing in ATM lines for longer duration that triggers sweat on forehead only will now generate intensified sweat on legs, chest or torso. Believe me this sweat is discomforting and hampering because you cannot wipe it off like the sweat on forehead. And even if you are aware of the heat balance displacement of ETS it is hard to contemplate how it will affect daily lives. We only associate rigourous activities like running, jogging and exercising as sweat provoking activities but fail to recognize heat circulation in the body in other activities like working in kitchen, moving household items, sitting and studying something intensive and immersive. Playing a musical instrument with involvement in my case. In long term, the sensitive and fragile heat balance disturbed by ETS will start to reflect as unusual, exaggerated amounts of sweats on other parts of body- chest torso legs buttocks everywhere. Thats because all other parts of the body have fewer sweat glands than combined head, palms and feet. Body faces the brunt of lack of pores to dissipate the same amount of heat so it onsets the sweating early and profusely. Our bodies have a very sensitive and delicate heat balance. Proof of it can be seen in our often overlooked response to climate change, weather conditions. You cannot wear a full sleeved t shirt in summers. Simply because body needs surface area exposed to dissipate and balance the excess heat. Body pumps heat to various parts of the body continuously while we are doing our daily activities and we are unaware of it until it translates into sweat. And the most predominant portion where body pumps the heat is the head. The very fact that first sweat appears and drips from the head means our bodies pump a lot of heat to the head. It has the primary brain which is the powerhouse of energy consumption. Infact head combined with palms and feet infact are responsible for nearly 50% of heat dissipation from the body. It is essential that this delicate heat balance be not disturbed and left as it is. Surgery is a drastic disruption of this balance which in the long term has adverse counteractive reactions from the body as is finds new pathways for the triffled heat dissipation.

Stop downplaying what this is ETS needs to be banned world wide. It is a life destroying surgery that entirely destroys autonomic homeostasis and sympathetic tone. It literally paralyzed the ability to feel excitement inside the chest. ALL of these doctors are committing medical fraud and not disclosing what is ACTUALLY occurring. It literally zombified that bodies ability to feel. These doctors belong in hell. Period

Hi thank u for sharing your story. I did this ets surgery 20 years ago, way back in 2002. I experience the same symptoms as u, extreme compensatory sweating on the chest and back. The arms and shoulders are totally dry. Coming from a hot and humid country like Singapore, it can get very uncomfortable at times. But i have learned to live with it. I normally will use sweat proof undershirts so that i dont soak through my clothes. The good thing about this surgery is that my hands are totally dry, and as my job involves driving.. it is much more comfortable and safer than having very sweaty palms. We just have to live with this. For those living in hot and humid countries like India or Singapore, strongly advise not to go for this ets surgery. It will change your life. For those from colder and less humid countries, may be worth a try if your sweaty palms are really bad.

Hi, My bad experience of ETS surgery is limited to playing piano. I liked to play piano(which is quite an extensive activity) without a fan or ac for silence. It got affected due to CS and it caused me a great amout of distress. No other life aspect was affected and surgery was quite successful otherwise. So, if your job is a sitting job and you don't have to engage in any extensive physical activity for long periods without fan or ac. Then surgery should be OKAY. Also, you can consider surgery for one hand only(your primary hand), which will reduce the risk of compensatory sweating to dismal levels. There were some comments in my comments section who also reported problems from compensatory sweating and I don't know their stories. I had surgery done in MAX healthcare(Dr. Khuller) but now I know Dr. Arun Prasad(Apollo Hospital) is most experienced for doing such surgeries. He has done more than 2000 such surgeries. Thankyou

@vijabhinav Жыл бұрын
@@pintugouda6230 See in my experience long term effects after 6 to 7 years are not worth having the ETS surgery. Body develops new pathways to compensate for the pathways destroyed by ETS surgery. Due to lesser number of sweat glands on any part of the body compared to head, palms and feet. The compensatory sweating is more, triggered much faster and can become the cause of dismay and evoke new problems at later stage of life. Read other comments of mine on this video to understand more about compensatory sweating and read the pinned comment to know who should beware of this surgery. Okay.

Well, I advise all of you to try iontophoresis once because surgery is Like a gamble because compensatory sweating is almost 90% cases as it is quite obvious that sweat will get reflected in other parts of body like back, chest, gustatory and it can be more severe. Most of you may think up what's the big deal in this as other person won't know I'm sweating and you can easily live a normal live but you will be uncomfortable and many complex problems may arise like dry eyes and mouth, dizziness, dehydration etc. Be positive and try iontophoresis first as palmar/plantar/ or even axillary hyperhidrosis don't have permanent cure till now and accept the fact. Moreover, side effects are permanent and long lasting in ETS. Only problem with iontophoresis is like you need to do it regularly and its prolonged just like Dialysis, but it's safe than ETS.

@gauravpanday6247 3 жыл бұрын
@@abhijitkumar6758 Initially for 1-2 weeks you need to have daily sessions of 30 minutes(15-15 minutes for each polarity). You will observe increase in sweating but don't stop just continue. Once you see sweating is reduced considerably, you can have 20 minutes session (10-10 minutes for each polarity) on alternate days for 10 days. You can also increase the voltage in which you are comfortable. After that, if you achieve 80% reduction, then you can have just one session once in a week of 30 minutes (15-15 minutes each for each polarity) like for 2 months. You can add baking soda or salt. Use tap water instead of RO water. You can also use Luke warm water. Both will increase the conductivity of water. Also, you need to identify like you have just hyperhidrosis or it is a symptom of some underlying problem. Better to see an endocrinologist who may check for TSH, T3 and T4 levels just to check if thyroid hormone is working fine or not.

Man that sucks. Something like 92% of people develop compensatory sweating. And some even develop corposcindosis. I can't see why anyone would take a 8% chance of a good outcome. Yes thank you for asking. But I am peculiarly contemplating the possibility for its reversal because I am having difficulty playing piano. It's very rare that people seek reversal of this surgery but I am contemplating my options.

was it selective sympathectomy
@vijabhinav
@vijabhinav 5 ай бұрын
No, it was T2,T3,T4 complete removal of ganglions. But i wouldn't suggest any kind of sympathectomy. In winters, the hands get erratically cold due to absense of heat flow (cant hold a mouse even) and CS in summers ofcourse. I dont know how selective approach is better.
@theShashwat0024
@theShashwat0024 5 ай бұрын
@@vijabhinav I found that in selective sympathectomy they dont disturb the ganglion .. it remains intact ..just the communicating nerves to ganglion are disconnected at t2 ,t3,t4 . So sympathetic chain is not removed . hence the dangerously high sweating is avoided.. its done with robot by magnification. atleast this is what i found... i hope its helpfull.. i m also suffering from hyperhidrosis

@@theShashwat0024 yes i am still worried about erratic cold hands in winter. Bcuz hands would be impacted. And since i had reversal done, i know the autonomous nueral activity in the head is very important. You can study more about it. Also, having unilateral ETS is a much safer option, it largely does not disturb the body’s thermoregulation. If you are satisfied with just one hand dry, you can consider that option. I will remain a deterant for bilateral ETS.

@@vijabhinav hello sir i am going for unilateral ets after 2 month for my right hand . Last time I was giving my pcs mains exam by putting hankerchief under my hand but I am not getting that speed and could not qualify for interview stage even I know all the questions by heart. So sir should I go for ets only on right hand or should I work on myself by changing my lifestyle. Sir plzz reply❤.

@@utkarshsingh6882 dont, read about raynaud syndrome on internet. It means bitter cold hands in winter. I suffered from this after 5 years of ETS. Hands so cold that you can't hold a mouse on computer for 5 min. If you are willing to take such risks and trade this problem with another you can go for it. Since, winter is there for atleast 4 months in north india. I dont suggest even unilateral surgery.

Side effects mein body ke kisi hisse pe sweating zyada ho jati hai. Chest and back pe jaise. Itni zyada ki bina pankhe ke baithna mushkil ho jata hai, paseena tapakne lagta hai. Koi kaam jisme sochna pade ya mehnat lage, vo garmi mein karna uncomfortable ho jata hai. Iska relation body heat balance se hai, vo bigad jata hai.
