@@yaldabaoth2 You need to subsidize your colonial subjects 3-4 ducats (at least) per month to make them colonize from the get go. Other than that, then yes the tactic is usually to grab the trade centers (beware, the 5th province in the region will become their capital, try to time it without someone else grabbing it, helps your subject) then move on to the next region. Then, LATER, you can do those wars if you bother (or just annex their overlord)

If the plan was to form Cuba, that's pointless though. But I guess the game gets abandoned immediately after anyways so what's the point of anything 😅

I think the best area for playing tall other italy is india or malaya since almost every province has a high value trade good and there are CoTs everywhere, in my first full campaign(bahmanis to hindustan) I managed to get eco hegemony in 1660 by diverting all that trade to coromandel and playing semi tall

@@ramp597 The best? Some might argue that by forming Hindustan you are not really playing tall. India is a super-region, the same classification as the entirety of Western Europe. A truer and more efficient tall game is within the Low Countries. You start in an end-node, which is already a huge advantage, half your provinces are farmland (one of which permanently gets -25% dev cost at tech 13), you can birth every Institution after Renaissance, and you can form The Netherlands, which generates excellent rulers from its unique government form.

You started the game with over twice the amount of provinces needed to form the Netherlands, and then conquered your way to over 100 provinces (250 if you held all your perma-claims). Call it semi-tall if you want; agree to disagree. You don't need to own a province to benefit from its high value trade good, you can use trade power to steal its trade value. In this, few nations are better than the Dutch.

Another hard one: Ladakh nowadays is part of Jammu and Kashmir, a region that's heavily suffering under the India-Pakistan conflict. Avoid the future India-Pakistan split by making it so that no Hindu or Islamic nation owns any province in the Indian subcontinent.

That requires more diplo points (for annexations and some other things), although who cares about diplo mana anyways. I totally agree So much money wasted (or ease of future wars, heck, even trade steering or trade power transfer is worth it and that cost no diplo)

@@SebHaarfagre In a choice between money, which he was never struggling with, and monarch points, which any nation not in Europe will likely struggle with due to institutions and lower starting tech, I feel like it was the smart choice. The income boost from Trade Steering/Transfer Trade Power would be negligible, and the only nation that he didn't full annex or leave as an OPM was Kongo, who would have barely had any tradepower left after he took most of their country and it wasn't a separate peace anyway.

When you form a new world nation as an old world nation, you abandon all your provinces in the old world. You can see it for a split second at 23:38-ish, the warning telling you that as he hovers over the decision.

Part of the goal was to own all of Cuba, so it didn't matter what the nation formation requirements were. If you don't play outside Europe much, you might not know, but if you don't force-spawn institutions, they take a very long time to reach you and the tech cost penalty will eventually make tech more expensive than your cap, making it impossible to not fall behind on tech regardless of how good your monarch point generation is. As for expelling minorites, it can certainly be good in niche cases, IMO, and I can see this being one of them if it were a full campaign, but it isn't. A lot of people seem to forget that these games are aiming for a set end goal, not to set the nation up to do well in a continued playthrough, which is why he'll sometimes stop playing optimally as he nears the goal, and even do bad moves like breaking alliances for no reason; it really doesn't matter at that point, and sometimes it's fun to just chill and be silly. Plus, he doesn't always play optimally from the start, even though he's a super-skilled player in his VODs and more serious campaigns, because again, he doesn't need to. It's just for the video, not a full campaign. The reason he took the assimilation policy is because of the 50% uprising chance, which combined with the 50 from Explo/Expansion policy makes uprisings not possible. I disagree that the Native Assimilation bonus is specifically useless, as it increases the goods produced in a colony (though by a tiny amount, tbf), but the uprising chance is the main reason to take it. He could have switched to aggressive, but there wasn't really any reason to. He had all the provinces he needed on lock and just needed to fight Caraibas for one more. Again, it doesn't need to be optimal.
