Not shaking your opponents hand is just a pure lack of tact- sports and opponents have existed for centuries- you always show respect. You are not shaking someone's hand to wish them luck- you are just greeting them-I will never support her.

simplyvirtuoso Well said. When I saw that, I said she just made herself a huge target. Everyone will play her like she was Anna Kournikova. No one likes the Pretty girl and certainly not the Pretty arrogant girl who thinks she is better than the rest without even winning a set against the Queen. I guess stupid people do stupid things.

Well stated, I fully agree. The pre match handshake is baseline sportsmanship, for all sports. Her dismissing this cordial gesture indicates inherent levels of selfishness, arrogance and blatant disregard for fans of all ages who witnessed that. Her losing to that same lady, hours later, was poetic justice; karma fires back at princess bitches too.

I think her game has always been overrated. I've never been a fan of hers but I think she could still have a good career. I see her more as a top 20 or top 30 player though. I think people were way too quick to jump on the Genie bandwagon. Even last year, she didn't do much outside of the grand slams. She won one small tournament and had a couple of other good runs in tournaments but that's about it. I read somewhere that in 9 or 10 of her tournaments last year she lost in her first round. That doesn't scream future tennis superstar to me. She needs to get that number down, not necessarily to 0, but 9-10 is way too high.

Sue Smith Her competition is taking her way too serious. Now everyone want to beat the new Anna Kournikova. And like Anna, Her career in Tennis is only going to get tougher not easier. next 4 years will be the War for the throne which is still being occupied comfortably by Queen Serena the Great. Things are not going to get easier for the Genie. With the points Serena has accumulated, she can only focus on Majors and Mandatory which if she Keeps winning for the next 3-4 years means the rest will battle for world number 2 spot and Sharapova will fall in two years.

The Necrocast Musician Sharapova will fall in tennis ranking below 5th by the end of 2016 season and then Below top 10 by the end of 2017. By 2018 she will be trying to qualify for tournaments if she doesn't retire. Once a player that plays the way she plays starts complaining about her knee, then the end is near. The young ladies are playing better and She is only getting louder and older.
@G14able
@G14able 9 жыл бұрын
The Necrocast Musician We will have to wait to see it play out. The Serena Effect is the reason with 4,321 points Sharapova is #3. That number proves Sharapova is about to fall below top 5. It might be sooner than I predict. This is the definition of fall AUSOPEN Finalist (Serena) FROPEN R16 (Safarova) Wimb Semi (Serena) How many top 10 players has she beaten this year? I'll tell you. =>Wozniaki =>Radwanska =>Bouchard =>Navarro => Ivanovic That is a sign of a player on the fall since all the above players are not playing well this season. We will have to wait to see it all play out.

The Necrocast Musician Breaking News, Sharapova has withdrawn from the USOPEN due to the knee injury. Her number 3 position is no longer secure as Kvitova and Safarova can claim Number 3 and 4 respectively. This signals the beginning of the fall of Sharapova in Tennis Ranking. Sharapova fans should start moving forward. I recommend Kvitova or Pliskova.

I think she's an interesting one because, although she is slumping somewhat, I never thought she was particularly good to begin with. Additionally, her actual results in 2014 (as in who she actually beat) were nothing special. Her best win was probably over an injured Halep (who is rather overrated herself) in the Wimbledon SF...big whoop.

Tristan Ferguson LOL an injured Halep ... give me a break, she get a blister and her fans say she is injured...Pathetic ! Genie beat Ivanovic, Kerber twice, Suarez-Navarro all ranked higher and more experienced. Her 2014 results ...were simply..at the Grand Slams were it counts, the best record on the on WTA a tour in 2014, 1 final, 2 semi-finals and a 4th round. That speaks for itself.

It's unfortunate that she aspired after Maria's isolated, "I'm not friends with competition" attitude right around the same time that it was starting to fall out of favor with the public. Maria used to be respected and commended for her serious and mysterious demeanor, then social media happened and all of the sudden we want our personalities to be open as a book and friendly with everyone. Eugenie picked the wrong role model to base her career off of, you don't have to have to best friends with everyone on tour, but it helps to have some back up in the locker room.

She sucks for the amount of attention she gets. I don't find her pretty, but obviously the media have a thing about blonde bimbos who can hold a tennis racquet. Of course, she's in the Top 100 on the WTA, which means she's still one of the best tennis players in the world, which is quite an accomplishment. But there are so many better players or player who are at least on par talent-wise and especially results-wise, yet the WTA itself as well as countless media outlets continue to give this snobby girl press. If she wins a match she's "starting her comeback". If she loses, it's a tale of hard luck and lingering injuries or self-doubt. Well every player has wins and losses and 99% don't get the coverage or endorsements she does. I don't hate her as a person, though I don't find her personality endearing at all and I would probably not like her much in person. But that's beside the point. If she were humble and more focused, and shunned media exposure until (if) her came improved, I'd respect that a lot more than what she does now, which is to make it seem as though she's been a victim of a fickle press. Yes, in a way she has...but don't forget Genie it was the press that made you in the first place. One good year - 2014 - only lasts so long in the minds of tennis fans and since she's never won a grand slam final, been #1, or done anything terribly remarkable, I don't see her being much different from Kournikova. That is, she's a good athlete, has had admittedly more success in singles than Kournikova did but not as much in doubles, and is known mostly for her looks and for some tragic "fall" which is no one's fault but her own. Meanwhile, other players are out there grinding week in and week out to produce results, and not getting nearly the coverage for it. If Genie fans want to know why many of us dislike her or at least the hoopla surrounding her, THAT'S the reason. We're not irrational "haters" ...actual tennis fans like myself who appreciate watching skilled players like Angie, Aga, Garbine, Petra, and so on play masterfully out there and not get a fraction of the attention this annoying chick gets is what we "hate".

OK to all these nasty low lives on here that are putting hate on this girl!! know this!! what have you done with your lives. In 2014 this young lady made all four Grand Slam Semi - Finals in one year and a Finalist at Wimbledon. In 2014 she was a Semi - Finalist at the Australian Open, Semi Finalist at the French Open, Runner Up at Wimbledon and again a Semi - Finalist at the US open. Even though she has struggled to make it back when she was world no.4 she is still inside the top 50 or top 40 and has been able to keep in the top WTA rankings for the last 5 year's. Those of you who have no idea how hard and tough it is to stay inside the top 50 these days in both men's and women's tennis should not be commenting on this as not one of you has a clue of what your talking about. she may not be true champion stuff!! but she is still a very successful player!!. some player's who have been on the circuit for the last ten year's would love to make one Grand Slam Semi Final let alone a Final! And she has been a Semi Finalist in all four slams and a Wimbledon Final. Get Educated haters!! right now your the one's making your selves look as pathetic as you are ignorant of tennis.

It's simply her sophomore slump year. It was predicted and is accurate. She has also been predicted to be the face of tennis and that has been accurate. She has been predicted as the next IT girl of tennis. That will come too. She is being predicted to be the next number 1 player in the world. That will come too. New coach means new style of play. The new style takes time and you can see it slowly coming into her game. With her original style and the new style she will be very tough to beat. 2016 Bouchard will break through again and will be the new #1 player in the world. Many of us were obnoxious, arrogant and ignorant at 21 years old too. Haters no need to be self righteous. Your not perfect either! GENIE YOUR THE BEST!!!

Haters in the end, just hate themselves, it makes them feel good to hate on someone else. Haters will always be pathetic losers.

She was overrated in 2014 too. The fact that she could lose so many matches during the beginning of 2015 and still be ranked #6 and #7 shows that she didn't have much backing up her ranking from last year other than her grand slam results. She needs to be more consistent in tournaments throughout the year rather than just the 4 that have the most points at stake. She's never really been able to beat the actual top women in the sport. In Singapore last year she lost all 3 of her round robin matches. Also, in the Wimbledon final, she was completely outplayed and overpowered by Kvitova. She didn't belong on the court with her.

Sue Smith Other than her grand slams...hmm ... that's where you earn the big points. All she won and accomplished in 2014 was deserved. She had no preparation for Singapore last year, as she injured her thigh in Wuhan just before the year-end championships and had to rehab the injury. So her losing the matches was no big surprise. No one in tennis is overrated, they must earn the rankings. No she has never beat any of the top women, Ivanovic twice, Kerber twice, Halep and Saurez-Narravo...no she just rose to number 7 by beating no one.

+Lianne Green Halep beat her in Singapore, Suarez Navarro beat her in Rome I think it was this year. Last year in Singapore she was blown out of the water despite having an injury. If she was really that injured she wouldn't have played. The injury may have affected her some but it's not the entire reason she lost. Plus I don't count Ivanovic and Suarez Navarro as being some of the true top women in the sport. They're very up and down players. Look at Bouchard's record last year. In 9 or 10 of the tournaments she played she lost her first round match. That's not a future tennis superstar to me. She was overrated due to only having her grand slam results to really back up her ranking. Outside of the grand slams she only won one small tournament and had a good run in only a couple of other tournaments. She needs to be way more consistent than that to really be able to sustain having a top ranking. She's more of a top 20 or top 30 player to me.

Whatever you say, but Bouchard needs to grow up and show some respect and just shake hands.That is why a lot of people hate her now. Stupid move, if I would be her parent I would be so ashamed of her behaviour. As a sponsor I would be worried about how this public image affects my products. It is not only about her, she made the choice to be in the spotlight. When you are in the spotlight behave accordingly and not like a spoiled brat. Just show some decency and shake hands. You hand will not die off in doing so. Also it is not only about her moral code, but about a shared code of conduct we share as human beings. Shaking hands is a sign of respect, she made the choice to disrespect people. Hence all the haters. Bouchard also needs to improve a lot, to be honest I almost forgot she existed until I stumbled on these vids of her.

It was a treat to see Kvitova demolish her at Wimbledon. Regardless, she will always be Big Chin Genie to me ,like my song says. Some people are likable and some are not. Kim Clijsters is a great person and a fine tennis player. Big Chin Genie is neither.

Eugenie Bouchard from Westmount in Montreal, is and will always be a choker when it comes to being a good tennis player.. i think she should concentrate on her tennis.. or go get her picture taken on Playboy magazine... she thinks she is better than everybody else on the court but has not proved it yet .. nor will she...
