Both of them are charming :3 I personally like the exterior and roof of the bookstore, but the interiors and colors of the coffee shop. I like there is so much space to pose minifigures. I prefer that than cramped spaces. I actually don't mind the buildings being open on the back, but I do mind them not having stairs.

I like them, especially as they are 16 studs wide. but I am going to replace the baseplate with a 16x32 flat one and close the back, but besides I really want to bild one of em.

I do not agree backwall is just a subjective thing. All these are coming from old Lego fans, who made believe Lego's bullshit that buying half of the set is fine. It's not. You do not buy vehicles without wheels. If you want to look inside there are hinges and other options for this invented long ago and used in normal sets. You can open your set and have it like this all the time if you want, but it doesn't mean it's ok not being able to close it.

Unfortunately there is a strong fan base for open walls...I've complained before and many have defended...Doesn't help that funwhole does this and Mork's latest sets are all open back.
