It also safes a lot of people money... People who potentially would have invested more, customers who woulda payed 700 bucks and the list goes on. Its a good thing, that bad products get filtered out of the market asap. It would only be immoral, if marques would intentionally make bad reviews for a good product just to hurt a company. This one is clearly not it.

He hasn't been tame. I'm mostly upset about what happened to Fisker, a company really dedicated to sustainability. He's holding start ups to the same standards as mega corps, and the start ups have to deal with the biggest name in tech outright rejecting their product. I don't expect new companies to create products as good as something Apple or Google makes, so I'm more forgiving when a company that has a great cause doesn't get it right the first time. I don't blame him for sharing his opinion, but there isn't even a chance for these companies to improve. It just makes me feel sad.

Constructive criticism of decent products yields good products, and negative reviews of trash helps prevent people from accidentally buying trash (and funding the production of even more trash). The entire point of a free market is supposed to be that companies compete for business by making good products and services, and they *should* die if they're bad, that's the point. And a critical requirement for that process to work properly is that buyers need good information about the products and services so they can accurately pick the best option, otherwise it all just falls apart and we all wind up with junk.

I depend on reviews from reviewers that I trust that I follow like yourself Marquis When I see a large number of reviewers giving me generally the same review info I take that information seriously and I tend to believe that all the different reviewers are giving me accurate information. Keep up the great work buddy I've been following you since you are like 11 years old

5:48 Sometimes I do come back to your (and other reviewers’) videos a few years later when looking to buy an older high-end or refurbished product from 2-3 years ago. I also appreciate reviewers that come back to products a year or two after with an update.

If you don't want bad reviews, don't make bad products. The only reason I watch MKBHD is because of the level of trust for the honesty I have. Keep it up.

If a channel is large enough, they could theoretically shut down a good product. Sometimes a sort of prototype will get better. In case of the last video: Calling something „the worst product ever?“ as a clickbait title - yeah that can be seen as unfair. Otherwise I am completely on the side of your argument. Companies need to develop good products for good reviews.

@@antman767390% of the titles on YT are click bait, because that's what's needed nowadays to be in YTs algorithm. Never judge a video by the title or thumbnail, you actually need to watch it.

When Top Gear review cars, do we hear people complaining that you may lose Ford, Mazda or even Aston Martin money? No. Their reviews were brutally honest to give consumers the info they needed. Some manufacturers didn't even send cars to Top Gear for that very reason. They were scared. The fact that you had to make this video response is beyond me. Your reviews are always honest. Considered and even go so far as to talk to the 'good stuff' as well as the bad. Keep doing you Marques.
@navacla14 күн бұрын
Exactly! Marques shouldn't have to ever explain his reviews, and especially the honesty. It's actually the contrary: very important to disclose if the video is paid by a sponsor or product gotten for free or any other financial incentive to give a "better" than deserved review. Which includes any investment whether financial or other, in the company making the product under review.
@TheBaldOne14 күн бұрын
There's actually a court case ongoing from Tesla against Top Gear because how badly they reviewed the Model S (basically Clarkson is biased against electric cars, and that transpired towards the review). But, independently of that Tesla is still around for some reason...maybe their product is not as bad as Top Gear made it seem.
@asharak8414 күн бұрын
Top Gear is probably a bad example given they were an entertainment show with scripted segments in reviews - almost any other car show would fit what you're trying to say better!

Koenigsseg improved as a company after a bad review. They went and improved the car and came back with a better version.

Top Gear - the show that scripted issues happened with cars ahead of time based on their personal preferences? Cool story.

This is the whole point of journalism-to let people know when something’s not right-and the people deserve to know especially if it could be a total waste of their hard-earned money. Kudos to you, Marques.
@kinphoke13 күн бұрын
True, the point of journalism is to be truthful and accurate - and the reason why we watch MKBHD is because he does that, and in a way that captures our attention. However, as a practicing journalist, he does have a responsibility to have compassion for those his reviews could affect and although I think his reviews are pretty tame; the idea that he doesn't have to consider how he presents the information isn't a good idea.

Pretty sure that was never the issue (at least the posts I have seen). It was about intentionally making a clickbait title when the actual review showed it's nowhere near the worst product. He himself admits the hardware was pretty impressive engineering considering its size. It's also a first-generation product in completely new category. I can bet he will never do this with a company like Tesla or Apple, since the backlash will be orders of magnitude stronger.
