4 жыл бұрынThe 2014 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest took place in Copenhagen after Emmelie de Forest won for Denmark the year before. Participants from 37 countries took part at the contest and 26 of them made it to the Grand Final. Valentina Monetta was San Marino's first ever finalist. The Eurovision Song Contest 2014 was also the first ever time Montenegro qualified for the Grand Final as an independent country. Conchita Wurst brought Austria their second ever victory with the song 'Rise Like A Phoenix'. Right after her victory, she was headline news all over the world. The Netherlands reached their best result since winning the contest in 1975. The Common Linnets came second.

2014 Eurovision was one of the best Eurovisions ever. Beautiful, stylish stage, unique graphic design and incredibly creative postcards. I still get boosebumps from that "ready to perform" stage effect. Man, that was a fucking awesome show, DR did a great job.

Fun fact: in the history of the contest, UK has only closed the show twice. 1966 and 2014. These are the same years where Austria got both of their wins.

I was there at the Grand Final in 2014, and it was an incredible experience! Such a jovial edition of the contest, full of great songs and an excellent crowd atmosphere. The voting was also a real thriller! The only thing about the show that was bad was that because of the stage design, the scoreboard was invisible to my entire side of the arena (I had to go down the stairs to see it). But a great show by DR! Hard to believe it was staged in an old shipyard (that I passed everyday while living in Copenhagen two years prior!).

This was a superb edition of Eurovision. Hosted beautifully & professionally, with quality and memorable songs, great interval music, and a meaningful winner. I loved Eurovision 2014. Also had a huge crush on host Nikolaj Koppel! RIP to Mamuka Gaganidze (the vocalist on the drums in the band 'Shin' & Mariko from Georgia, who competed with 'Three Minutes To Earth'). He passed away in 2019.

It’s not muffled. It’s a little hollow and low in bass. It’s how it was broadcast. Not as rich as it could have been but then we not know the issues they had on the night.

This is where everything startet for me. It was not the first time that I watched the eurovision, but it was the first time I really got into the whole community. It was the first time my country had a chance of winning for the first time in many years. Yet I still couldn't believe that my country actually could win the trophy until the voting finished. The amazing Conchita "The Queen of Austria" finally brought the trophy home after 48 long years of waiting. This made me really fell in love with the eurovision and it still holds on till this day.

This year had the best postcards ever. Most editions use it as a tourism ad but Denmark let the contestants highlight their individuality and their national pride.

Everyone can identify this stage. There are other greatest stage designs, but everyone can say: oh this is ESC 2014. The ladies Making butter in stage, the hamster wheel, the French guys, the Russian twins connected by ponytails, and Portuguese Susy that did not make it to finals, but got famous in Finland! And of course... The Conchita year. That was the best.

Iconic Music And Conchita also influenced, since Russia isn’t a tolerant country, because of the participation of Conchita, they generally refused to broadcast this show in their country, and wanted to leave it forever
