Carpenter Sonny is back.
I didn't expect that my wrist injury would take me two months to stop working. Meanwhile, the seasons have changed and the fall breeze is chilly.
After a long break, my wrist has recovered somewhat and I can start working again. Thank you to our subscribers for waiting, and we ask for your continued interest and support. I will continue to work hard to create good works.
The table we made this time was inspired by a famous Korean singer Younha’s song ‘Event Horizon’. It has two star shapes incorporated in the frame structure. When the table top covers the frame, the shape of the two stars are obscured. but I think the table retains its own structural beauty eventhough star shapes are hiden.
Both the frame and the top were made from American black walnut, and efforts were made to process the top to take advantage of the natural curved shape of the wood. There were quite a few bug-eaten spots on the sapwood of the tree, so I had to cut it quite deeply even after peeling it. As pretty as the pattern on the top was, the cross grain was spread out randomly in all directions, so it took a lot of effort to get the cross grain straightened out with a plane.
