This update releases the reworked Beast Tamer which is basically a new class, and of course the big 19th anniversary events are here! Prepare to get nostalgic with a new old school dungeon, collect old school maplestory weapons and a whole lot of other rewards, exp buffs, you name it!

Awesome! I love low drop rates from greedy companies! Old school was the best because you needed to spend hundreds on HP washing if you ever wanted to be any kind of serious player and the grind never, ever stopped. It's almost like the game has been kinda horrible for it's entire life and has been carried by the nostalgia of the 30 year olds who played it in middle school.

Old school Maplestory NEEDS to happen. It would be incredible! All the blinded people who say “it’s just nostalgia”, please go take a look at Old School RuneScape & Old School WoW :)

Maplestory has maybe 30,000 active players in its current server. Nexon isn't going to split its already small player base to pour money into an old school server. It would probably kill the game. People that would play for nostalgia would probably quit after a couple of months, and people that have sunk thousands of hours into the current game wouldn't drop everything to play an old school server. It genuinely wouldn't work.

@@ChrisChros player base will increase, current server will still be up for those who want to play “retail” Maplestory. Not everyone is going to quit after a few months, like I said look at old school RuneScape or WoW for statistics.

The Mage in the event PQ is actually the most important class, it's crazy. Even ignoring how they're the life-blood of everybody for the duration, Balrog's shield can be countered by turning him into a snail. Might be only enjoyable to Maple boomers, but man it was a blast.

Definitely tried cleric in that dungeon ... It really did feel like I was in 2006 with being constantly needed for heals. Then being blamed for people dying lol I couldn't help but laugh, because it brought me back. =3

I miss maplestory soooo much, it was my favorite game ever. i wished they went back to how they used to be. like pq's, taking a lot longer to level, random events, random bosses, we need og maple back. < 3

Honestly as other comments have mentioned, I would play an official V83 server if Nexon had one. I played when I was a kid and seldomly up to 6-7 years ago on MapleRoyals, could never « connect » with the newer MS

I played on Royals a few years back before getting back into current maple. It was great, and the only reason I stopped plying was because the population's too low and at 70+ I was struggling to find parties for PQs.

Wait till maplestory worlds releases in global soon. It's most likely the only official classic maplestory we will get. Koreans are playing the shit out of it atm.

@@jones7831 even if MS Worlds open in global, doesn't mean MapleLand aka 'official classic maplestory' will come. It's maintained by a member of the community with his team. I doubt they would take up localization to just bring it to GMS, value proposition isn't really there too.

I'm pretty sure who you vote for actually gives you a specific reward after doing the jump quest, for example voting Orange Mushroom gives the Pink Bean Snapback. That's who I'm voting for.

I'm a returning player that hasnt played in years, I have a several level 120+ characters but I wanna make a fresh character and see how much Maple has changed over the last few years. Will this event help me gear out a new character? Also what classes do you recommend for a returning player? I heard that the explorer classes got revamped and that excites me.

Why does MapleStory keeps yanking my chain. There is a Lynn event BUT you need LYNN to be Level 200 to benefit from it. I guess if you had a level 200 Beast Tamer you could get right to it.

People would play for a bit, but after the hype they'll realize that the nostalgia and what they missed was not the slow gameplay, but the time back then with less responsibilities and maplestory being our main social forum. People dont have the time to grind as slowly as back then, and most ppl wont use mapelstory to chat or make friends anymore. Just a different time now, and we all have to accept that it's in the past.

@@BuffPomskyTo be fair though, I think most people have this idea in their heads that an oldschool server would be an unchanged version of the game, even though OSRS, the best example as to why oldschool servers would work, very regularly updates the game through community approved/voted updates. Old maplestory might be boring in the state it was 15 years ago, but it doesn't have to be if they released it now and added content to it
