I once slipped on a wheelbarrow ramp and managed to face plant into the handle, give myself a black eye, and then dump the entire load of manure and wet shavings on my own back. Naturally talented!

Ones that are definitely true for me: my horse whipping me in the face with her tail and her purposely stepping on the hose in the washrack. The wheelbarrow ramp was hilarious though haha.

i had the same problem when i first stared to canter. heres what helped me: try sitting on the squishy part of ur bum and allow ur hips to swing forward and back with the canter also lean back a little

I learned to half seat on a horse with a super smooth canter. Then I was moved to a VERY bouncy horse and asked to sit the canter! What worked best for me was gripping a lot with my thighs, sitting back along with moving my hips with his motion. Be careful not to move your hips too much and 'drive the horse forward' though. If you do it's basically asking the horse to lengthen their stride and go faster. Super bouncy horse that's being told to go fast and already has a huge stride isn't the most fun! But now that I can sit that bouncy canter all other horses canters seem smooth to me and I can sit them very comfortably ;) But if you're on an old schooling pony (I call all schooling horses ponies, even if they're 17 hands) then they might need to be driven forward to keep their canter. I've had lazy horses break to a trot on me too many times to count!
