@maia3420
@maia3420 Жыл бұрын
Depends. There are still far more 1000+ lb pulls conventionally than there are sumo. Also a lot of these guys are similarly as strong both ways. Heinla has the conventional record for most reps of 400 kg and top conventional deadlift of 2022. but simultaneously has the 3rd or 4th heaviest sumo pull in history. Jamal has the second highest Sumo pull in comp history but also has a top 3 or top 5 strongest conventional pulls ever don’t without a suit/figure 8s. Most of the best pullers are gonna be strong both ways. Cailer Woolam has pulled over 900 on both Sumo and conventional and his sumo pull went down when he focused on conventional. Focus also matters.
@basedchang2501
@basedchang2501 Жыл бұрын
@@maia3420 You are disgustingly slimy and disingenuous. Yes, there are far more 1000+ conventional. That's BECAUSE IT'S ALL ENTIRELY DONE BY SUPER HEAVEY WEIGHT MONSTERS. The behemoths who can conventional 900+ are all just so happen to be the world's strongest men. Literally. While all the sumo 1000+ are done by guys 100 to 250lbs LIGHTER. Then there's the fact that the heaviest of all time was done sumo by a guy who weighs LESS than 250lbs. There SIMPLY DOES NOT EXIST a conventional deadlift of over 900lb (FORGET 1000+) done by a sub 250lb man. If this doesn't convince you that they're two different lifts, then there's nothing more to be said. A true 900lb+ conventional is an actual indication of one's true overall strength. As evident by the fact that the SHW monsters who do 900lb+ conventional are all legitimate world strong man competitors.

The level of disrespect displayed by Simping Vault is simply unacceptable. Look at all the legendary names of the 400lb+ behemoths that have TRIED and failed to break the 500kg conventional barrier throughout the years. Andy Bolton, Benedikt Magunsson, Mikhail Koklyaev, Mark Henry, Mark Felix, Gerrit Badenhorst, Brian Shaw, Zydrunas Zavickas, Terry Hollands, Eddie Hall, and Hafthor. That's just to name a FEW of the 400lb+ behemoths that have tried to achieve this milestone. Then out of nowhere, a bunch of sub 250lbs guys who have no where near the right to even be mentioned anywhere close to those world's strongest demi gods above, just casually shattering the 900lb barrier, and slowly creeping up to the 500kg/1100+ with their bullshit leverage abuse lift call the sumo. You either admit that sumo and conventional are two entirely different lifts as evident by the SHEER BODYWEIGHT AND SIZE needed to break 900lb conventional vs the relative 250lb TWINKS that are all casually sumo'ing 1000+ lbs, or you continue to maintain your delusional belief, in which case it would require you to somehow believe that Jamal Browner has SUPERIOR lower body strength than established and certified all time great strong men like Zydrunas Zavikas, Brian Shaw, Koklyaev, and the likes. Do you really think Jamal Browner has a superior posterior chain development than those 400lb+ mass monsters who've proven their godlike strength through countless strongman competitions? Believing sumo and conventional are the same lift is like pretending an ATG squat is the same thing as a leg press; or that a bench press is the same as a military press.

It's the same people who do some bullshit 2inch exorcist bench or mile wide stance low bar squat. Powerlifting is supposed to be about strength; not skirting the loopholes of the rules and reducing your ROM by any means necessary. It's the reason this sport will remain forever niche until it is officially addressed.

@@rosss7721 if we banned sumo tho less people would be competing.as of right now your anatomical structure doesn't really matter if you have long arms you have a good deadlift but a bad bench or if you have short arms you will have a good bench but be worse at deadlifts . however if you banned sumo there would be no advantage of long femurs since its less beneficial in the squat and conventional deadlift and they don't play a part in the bench. However if you have long femurs you would be better suited to sumo deadlift making the sport more about actual STRENGTH than your anatomical structure.

I know Eddie has remarked on other Sumo-deadlifts saying they're just as legitimate as he struggled to Sumo Deadlift anything close to that weight, you can't help but question just how much "easier" does Sumo make it for perhaps certain other types of body comp. Also just checked some of the other lifts like their bench presses and with no disrespect whatsoever, Eddie for example would have been able to rep quite a few of their max lifts. So maybe its a mix of the stance and the body comp as well, but when you've got Eddie Hall who was clearly at his peak collapsing after that lift and being a WSM and Thor being the shear physical freak that he is, both being somewhat "outlifted" by the other two but then they'd dominate them in their other lifts (unless I am totally wrong?) I just think there is a little more to it and it is more of a technique thing than out right strength.

Eddie Hall, who needed to weigh 400lb+, put his health and heart on the line, consume 10k calories a day, take all kinds of PEDs, needed a deadlift suit, figure 8 strap, peaking to be in the best and strongest shape of his life vs all the other elite giant strength athletes, bleed through his nose and mouth, just to finally smash the 500kg barrier. vs Jamal Browner, who casually does it in the gym, no suite, no figure 8 strap, weighing less than 240lbs, neither bleeds or requires help standing back up, sumos the exact same weight as Hall. But Sumo is the harder lift, right? RIGHT? Lemme guess, Jamal Browner would enter world's strongest man right now and just absolute demolish every single strength event that requires lowerbody strength. This is what sumo simps actually believe. Because, after all, they believe sumo and conventional are the exact same lift, thus, the exact same indication of overall posterior chain strength. Clown world.
