@@rhymeister Lw is a stacked Div and always has historically been the most stacked Div top to bottom but atm bw has surpassed the lw div, at least for sure in terms of the top 15 fighters are concerned. Lw is stacked in the entire Div, this includes prospects and up and comer future contenders. The thing about the lw Div which is sort of a good and bad thing at the same time is that the Div has so much star power in it. But because of all that starpower the top 15 is really clogged with big name fighters who for the most part only really fight each other rather then fighting the up and comer contenders and because of that the Div stays clogged at the top. I mean look at chandler. He’s only been in the ufc for like 2 years, and he’s fought hooker, Charles Oliveira, Justin gaethje, Tony ferguson, and now Dustin Poirier and he only beat hooker and Tony ferguson, both guys at a decline when they fought chandler but because chandler is such an exciting fighter and makes even fights he loses great, and because he’s only fighting and therefore only losing to other top ranked guys with starpower he isn’t really being surpassed by guys like tsaryukan, or gamrot or fiziev in the rankings. Gaethje has lost twice in both his title shots, and even though fiziev beat rda and is on a nice win streak because he doesn’t have a top 5 rank and isn’t a super big name guy yet gaethjes acting like he shouldn’t have to or doesn’t need to take that fight.

Featherweight and Bantamweight have always been the most stacked divisions. Lightweight just has more name value but has never been as skilled

dude your a casual LW has way more fighter than any division and higher skilled ie Guram, Thaigo, Terrence, Nurllo, Joel, Diego, Klose, Conor, Frevola, Nasrat, Faras, Mullarkey, 2 other russin undefeated guys these ppl are all unranked and there 10-20 more monsters. BW has like 20 good fighters and the top of the division is trash. Arman is more skilled than anyone in that division. If Gamrot was 135 with his skills he would shoot once on Aljo and he would lose.

Occasionally some fighters get a chance to show their defensive wrestling against a non Dagestani and that gives the illusion that they have a chance against them. Kinda like Gaethje and Khabib before Khabib Gaethje spent 13 sec on the ground and even after fighting Khabib he fought Chandler a pro MMA wrestler and Gaethje defended perfectly every takedown. Khabib dismantled Gaethje effortlessly. You cant compare offensive grapplers like Chandler and Gamrot to Khabib and Islam they are completely diffrent grapplers they are not even just wrestlers they are Judo masters who specialize in Judo trips and throws.

Me too. Surprises me how many Rob haters there are when he’s a nice guy, he’s funny, puts on great fights, and is arguably one of the best all-around mma fighters in the UFC.

Alex Pereira is a scary fight for him honestly. Rob can do everything right for 20 minutes, all it takes is one punch from Poatan and the fight is over for Bobby Knuckles.

@MMA GO Yes it is a scary fight because Poatan is a better striker than Whittaker, and one shot from him can end the fight. Meanwhile Whittaker has to mix in takedowns when he's not the greatest offensive wrestler, has no submission wins in the UFC, will have a significant height, reach and strength disadvantage against a guy who will never fall for the signature 1-2 high kick combination. Pereira's grappling is only to get better as well, while Whittaker is very much a finished product. Peeps thinking Pereira is Whittaker's ticket back to the belt are jumping the gun and underestimating Pereira's chances. Whittaker doesn't have a great chin, and he's hittable, one shot from Poatan even if he's losing every round of the fight, can win him the fight.

I have been watching Pereira since he was fighting in Glory. besides his power, he is really good at predicting strikes. He sees hits coming. just look at the way he was checking Adesanya's kicks! I don't really like him but he is powerful AND technical. Whittaker wont be able to do shit, unfortunately.

Agreed. I think lightweight was the more effectively marketed division for a long time which made it seem like the most difficult division in the org right now, but bantamweight (and featherweight for a while) is an objectively more stacked division.

I generally agree. Lightweight could explode if the UFC forced top 1-5 guys to take on contenders from 6-10. Bantamweight may just be better now though. Recently I’ve had more fun watching bantamweight overall with Yan’s stylistic fights.

I wasn't entirely sold on the guy, despite all the early praises. I don't think he beats Blaydes on the wrestling/ground game, despite his elite BJJ, and I don't think he beats Gan standing... so I'm not sure how Aspinall would fare at WH. And Blaydes striking has improved very nicely the last a few years, too, no longer "just a wrestler." And with leg injuries like that, it's hard to be "100% perfect again," having so much mass weight down his frame (against the bones, disks/joints, etc).

Yea we're kind of in the "middle years" of MMA, where most fighters are well rounded, it's hard to stay at the top because there's so many talented people coming up, the "every dog has it's day" metaphor is king of this era. The middleweight division isnt as strong skillwise as welterweight, a lot of welterweight moved up to that division and had success. Unless he runs into someone like whittaker i think Chimaev would do good there

The issue is the 2 champs of the middleweight division are horrible on the ground, so stylistically it's a bad fight for them, but other than that khamzat would lose to whittaker if he gets the belt

Its because of burn sub defense and his sub threat. Wrestling is not bjj, and Burn is 3x world bjj champion. Keyword "WORLD". Mma math doesnt work like that. A would beat B, B beat C but A would lose to C. Style make fight. As honest khamzat fan, his worst matchup would be someone like, robert whittaker, gilbert burn, roman dolidze, marvin vettori, ikram aliskerov, or maybe shavkat or bo nickal too(unproven at top 5), but shavkat wrestling and grappling is nowhere near his level and i dont think hes strong enough to defense khamzat chain wrestling. It will be someone who's known for their strength, power(clinch and punch) and good enough striking prowess combined with great takedown defense or sub defense/threat. Other than that he beat everybody, fairly easy. Khamzat have great chin and durable if he moves to middleweight that will be better. Cardio advantage alone wouldnt beat khamzat. They must have this combination of skillset to match his early storm style if not they will get dominated.

Sorry but this is kinda ridiculous, Khamzat didn’t attempt to grapple with Burns that fight, The fight was a stand up affair because that’s where Khamzat kept it, And when he did attempt to grapple he took Gilbert down with relative ease, He was just too respectful of Burns BJJ as he’s very decorated in that regard. So far there hasn’t been a single fighter Khamzat couldn’t take down, And the only guy I see him struggling to get down is Usman & Maybe Colby.
