I got to strum it at Giants Stadium when I hit the pit lottery. Naïve me thought I could just put my hand up and touch the strings at will when he came to the edge and presented it. I forgot that there'd be a crush of people behind me reaching over my head and pushing me down. Did manage to get my hand on the strings, would not call it strumming. Don't know if same one, the original is locked away, I think he has had made a number of look-alikes.

Did they ever say how it came to have the Esquire neck on it? I always assumed it was just a bad repair, but maybe there is a comfort reason for Bruce. Also, old guitar shop owners are great to talk to. If they have been around a long time, they all have met pros who came in for this or that. Sure, the stories are usually embellished a bit, but that's part of the fun.

I've been playing guitar for 20-odd years, mostly an ES-339 or an SG, and he's right, it really does become part of one's physique. I own two Telecasters: a 2005 American Highway One Tele with a C-neck and rosewood fretboard, and a Custom Shop Tele with a channel bound neck. Both are easily the best necks I’ve ever played. I also love the body style. Both my Telecasters have alder bodies, and are the same weight, so I am very comfortable with them. Then there’s the tone. My Highway One Tele has a really unique tone since it has a high output pickup in the bridge. The Custom Shop Tele has a really nice full tone thanks to the Humbucker in the Neck position, but still maintains that classic sound with the bridge single coil. I swear that the Telecaster is probably the most versatile guitar ever made. Between the standard pickups, Nashville with the Strat Middle Pickup, or the custom and deluxe models with different combinations with humbuckers, the Telecaster really can achieve pretty much any tone you want.

Another cool detail of that famous album cover is his Elvis Presley fan club button affixed to the strap.

As long as Rock'n'roll Lives - We will never REALLY Get Old. That's the BEST answer that I can offer. DO what I Did - Play it for Your children & Grandchildren, so that THEY can Do the SAME, & keep the Music WE'VE loved all our lives Alive & encourage Growth in the R'n'R That is to come.

Correct if I am wrong, but the only changes Bruce made to that guitar were a couple of pick guard changes. Check thr pick guard out in pictures during the Born To Run tour. There is a picture on the guard itself.

Back when Jimmy Buffett's first record came out a buddy and I drove to Key West. Just for fun we found a phone book in a phone booth (both were common then), looked up his address, found his house, hoping to smoke a doobie with him. Sadly, no-one home.

Although this guitar will eventually be a priceless artifact from the “glory days”, it was never the guitar, it was Springsteen. He bought it for $185.00. Certainly not the best instrument money could buy. Fenders were always known as high quality “cheap” guitars. Doesn’t matter. The music it (he) made was great. Fender should NOT come out with a signature Springsteen edition totally worn out but completely new. Those scars on that guitar are EARNED. Buying a guitar that looks like it is a little like stealing. Don’t. Make your own relic. My 1973 Ovation that I’ve had for 48 years has broken parts, scratches from constant use. Earned.

My nitro finished SG is only 20 years old but ive played it all across pennsylvania. It shows a lot of dings and dents. Each one of those was a story of its own. My goal in life is to be burried with a guitar as beat up as my own body

Sadly this is not how the music business works. Dealers, manufacturers, collectors, and auctioneers want us to believe it’s in the gear … if only I had Jimi’s pickups !!!?!
