Of all of those free-kicks, that last one was fundamentally different. It faded away to the right. Everything else JWP has done has spun to the left, whether it has been to take it away from keeper inside his near post or bring just inside the far one. Superb technique. The baton of great Saints free kick takers has been properly passed.

Can’t say he’ll ever rank anywhere near Le Tissier. Sorry, not possible. Fantastic free kick taker, but Le Tissier was just THE total attacking player with outrageous ability. He did enough damage to my Coventry over the years, I can tell you!

@@oluwagbayi.8476 I know what you mean but thinking logically Messi has been taking free kicks for years now, compared to Ward-Prowse. Imagine both of them started free kick takers in the same year, both of them would be neck-to neck to each other. If not, just nearly the same as Messi (I'm not gonna argue here because I know Messi is better overall than Ward-Prowse). But compared both of them for technique, I would say Ward-Prowse is better at the moment.

JWP is the most consistent free kick taker I’ve seen in 30 years of watching football, and one of the most technically gifted. His conversion rate is insane.
