MM17 was my first drafted master's set. i remember one of the guy's at my LGS helped me pay for it since i was 13 and didnt have a job. he just wanted 1 rare of his choice from my pool in return. He was nice and didn't take my damnation but he chose Restoration Angel. Thank you Justin for letting me keep the Damnation.

Yeah, you realize that whole Doubling Season thing at the end there was him talking specifically about that very first pack, from a set he never opened on camera before, right? Force of Will was a phenomenal pull there at the end, but the Doubling Season was no joke.

Its booster box of 6 packs all foils, all rare , all extended art. There is fetches, expeditions, inventions and invocations. Comes with 4 , 2 pack box toppers and it has randomly inserted priceless treasures. The buy a box promo is a secret lair. The VIP edition is all mythic and also has randomly inserted mythic edition and Japanese alt art foil planeswalkers. The buy a box is a foil uncut sheet from random years in magic. Regular booster boxes are 999.99. VIP booster boxes 1999.99.

i started playing around innistrad ( the original one), and man that time was fun. i think after khans magic got worse and hasbro got more greedy.

Innistrad was such an incredible flavourful block that I was totally engulfed in the game back then, and while I don't play magic anymore outside of sealed commander, I've kept up with spoilers and news all this time, and I don't know if maybe it's cynicism from my older age, but something about the releases these days feels less about the game and more about selling product, and the cards feel alot less interesting too.

@ Alexander Forbes Yeah, that hurt my soul. The only reason I have any fetchlands is due to the fact I had recently started playing MTG around Theros time. I was only buying individual packs and fat packs at the time and I got lucky. I have more Theros than any other set. During the Khans block, I cracked around 10 fetches and had no idea how valuable they were. LOL

I think they should print a gold-bordered Reserve List Masters. They were fine with these "official proxies" in the old World Championship decks. Reserve List Masters would be fantastic for Commander.

Well, the packaging from the Secret Lairs is mostly good in this regard. Just a tiny bit of plastic in the center for keeping the cards in place and show them when opened that could be replace by cardboard at the price of the "cool unboxing photo" part of the product. Such a shame that it is not tamper resistant whatsoever and can be easily opened and closed again without traces.

Right when MM3 came out, I had just started getting back into mtg. My buddy was having a pptq sealed (6 pack) mm3 event at his shop. Me, in my nascent innocence, was underwhelmed by the actual playability of the cards I pulled. Those cards were Misty Rainforest (foil), Goblin Guide, a Liliana, and two Cyclonic Rifts. I look back on younger me and scream, at times.

I like how they abandoned the environmentally friendly packs because some cards got damaged and then sell pringles for a premium in abhorrent overpackaging. So, ya know, damaged cards in environmentally destructive packaging. For a premium.

I love the videos, Professor! I only started playing a couple years ago, so I always love to hear about and see what Magic was like through the years. Hopefully they have a new masters set at a reasonable price. I love opening packs with older cards, but not ones that cost $15+

Prof is the actual reason why I am currently getting back into MTG and Yugioh. I bought the Chroma Sidewinder by Ultimate Guard, Dragon Shield card sleeves, and a Chroma deck mat by U.G. in black! I am using it currently for playing Remote Duels on discord, and won mt first set TODAY! Thank you for being such an awesome person Prof! You are a true inspiration!

I drafted the original Masters sets back in the day. MM2 I saw down at my shop and was eager to open my packs and see what I got. Pack 1 pick 1 was a foil Emrakul, pack 2 pick 1 was a Goyf. Pack 3 was a regular Emrakul. I was beyond ecstatic.

It's wild seeing how much more expensive this set has gotten over the last few years. In the last few weeks Ive been looking at cards for some Commander decks, and discovering that a lot of cards that I picked up for $2-3 a couple years ago are now selling for around $10 each.

Funnily enough I bought a Double Masters Doubling Season single when the set came out, along with the other cards I was excited for. After whiffing hard on mythics and valuable rares in my Ultimate Masters box I was a bit jaded with a premium price box. It also helped that all the high value singles I wanted still cost less than a box.

I do like how commander legends has a ton of value, while only costing a little more than normal packs. it feels like a lite masters set, which I suppose it is.

MM15 also had issues with the cardboard packs where they could be opened at the glued parts and then re-sealed.

I left my Mind vs Might duel decks in my car for 3 years and the foils in that are still perfect, as opposed to the foils I've purchased both in secret lairs and recent sets which are borderline unplayable in most cases. Truly mind boggling how we've been able to regress so much in card quality.

my ultimate masters box only had 2 mythics: liliana & cavern of souls & my box topper was literally one the worst ones, stirring wildwood debating on seeing if my store still has boxes, kinda want another one
