I was actually just playing through one of the numerous sections where she gets kidnapped 😂 and the whole time I was thinking how I missed her. Unlike the original Ashley, she makes you WANT to save her instead of making your whole mission feel like a chore. She’s obviously not super helpful as a companion since she’s probably had a sheltered and coddled upbringing, but she’s very eager to help Leon when she can, and she’s witty and caring as well. I really do hope that she becomes a recurring character and they make her even more badass as Leon’s partner. Plus, she’s a far more compelling love interest than Ada. The “princess” of the strongest country on the planet gets kidnapped and falls in love with her knight in shining armor, it’s storybook. And let’s not forget… jiggle physics 😂

She may have been annoying in the original but at least she was memorable. The remake makes her and pretty much all of the cast boring as hell.

"3make" was a big disappointment, but at least I finished it. I quit Village before I even finished the castle. Hated it. Such a let down after playing RE7, the first RE game I ever played. But the remakes for RE2 and RE4 made this my favorite franchise.

Village was inspired by 4 and and it had it's own identity. If you want an example of a rip off look at Star Wars the force awakens, and before anyone starts let me say that force awakens is a rip off because that movie wasn't made by George Lucas. Sure Star Wars is owned by Disney and Lucasfilm did produce the film but it's still a rip off because that movie wasn't made by the original creator and Disney scrapped his ideas of a sequel trilogy.

Parasite Eve 1 is kind of that. It uses an ATB system. But you can freely move in combat. Parasite Eve 2 did away with it though and was more like resident evil in that it had more action based combat.

yeah Resident Evil 7 was the scariest game in my opinion buy I found myself getting bored very often. 8 had it's scares and wasn't close to the scariest but the game was way more fun.

I just like the fact that RE 8 has a third person mode now. It kinda feels like Re4 meets the brothers grimm.

I'd disagree about the enemies. Sure they do suck in 7, but that game is built around atmosphere and puzzles more than gameplay. However, Village doesn't have either of those going for it, and since it's trying to be like 4, it has very disappointing enemy encounters. The lycans were a cool concept but they didn't do much with them, and they were barely in the game, and whatever those vampire things in the castle and factory were are honestly awful enemies.

What do you mean "actually"? RE7 was a one note game that totally fumbled the rock in the 2nd half. Zero enemy variation, terrible pacing, and boring, slow gameplay. Village improves on every facet.

Switching to first person was a mistake to me. Leave resident evil in 3rd person!

@@ShawnMenchacafirst person is what compliments the horror survival genre the most. 3rd person is outdated because it‘s clumsy and you block your own FOV. also, you have a 360 angle view all the time so you can see zombies behind corners and behind yourself tho running forward. it completely takes the thrill and is counterintuitive to the genre

@bepohal 3rd person isn't out dated. Tons of games are in 3rd person. It's superior if you ask me. 1st person has a handicapped peripheral vision, while 3rd person peripheral is heightened. And actually getting to see your character is a great bonus!

Re7 is literally one of the best horror games of all time. Re 8 and 3 is a good resident evil games..

village and 4 are bad RE games itself. on their own the are good. tho

7 is quite a bit better than Village in my opinion, at least on the horror elements and atmosphere. Village was very fun, but leaned more heavily towards action/fantasy

@@grapehool I’ve played them both, but my memory of the RE3 Nemesis is a little fuzzy. I remember renting it from my local video store back in 99’. I had to lightning finish it in a weekend, because I was 13 and only had the money to rent it once. 😆 The remake I played a year or so ago. It was a little on the short side, and I know they cut stuff out, but I enjoyed it.

Resident Evil is better in 1st person. For horror, your best options are 1st person (the recent entries) or fixed (the original trilogy). 1st person makes you feel more like you're there and the monsters get right in your face, and fixed has the advantage of being able to be more cinematic. Over the shoulder third person removes the cinematic angles, but also lacks the advantages of first person. Because shooting things is so important in RE, it HAD to move away from fixed, which now only really works with adventure game horror, like Until Dawn. This makes 1st person the best option for modern RE. I really think most who prefer it, it is because it is what they grew up with and what they are used to, so first person feels too "different" to feel like a true RE game to them.

Remake is way better than OG I'm sorry. The OG drags on for WAY too long and makes the game unenjoyable. RE4R fixes all of the issues Original had and makes it into its own.

@@bepohal pls don't take this personally or offensively as i've seen many people state this, but i don't fully understand it when someone says something like "it's good but a bad RE game". I see this mainly with 4, 5, 6, and maybe 8, etc. But if people actually consider 4 to be a "bad RE game", then what exactly is an RE game? Literally the franchise is based off of surviving against zombies, or other infected bow's. And in retrospect, that hasn't changed. The only thing that changes mainly between the games is gameplay obviously. Basically what i'm trying to get at is besides the ps1 and GameCube titles, is it fair to consider the following (more modernized) games, bad RE games? The game has to switch it up every now and then.

@@SyrisDuhVyris i'm not taking it personally or anything else ,besides that you wrote very respectful. here's the issue with RE4: people who state that the franchise was "evolving" clearly don't know the term or using it wrong (no offense to you ofc). what really evolved were things like the camera from fixed to 3rd person to first person, the quick turn, the aiming mechanism with the critical hit chance and the crafting system. RE4 was not an evolved game but a completely different game/genre. instead of a survival horror game it became an easy action horde shooter with almost 0 horror elements; no horror atmosphere; more ammo and guns in the first third of the game so you could beat the game twice without picking up any further bullet; no item management since you had an attaché case where you can fit a whole appartment in it; one-shot-boss weapons which are cheap and you could buy them as often as you want; no puzzles (except the cemetary one) which was a huge part of RE; a merchant who doesn't fit in this universe and completely misses the point of a survival horror game; no real RE lore; and technically unlimited ammo since enemies drop bullets, especially the lower you get. it is coded that way. even RAVENS drop grenades and ammo. the game didn't "evolve" but a completely different title just got an RE stamp on it. RE4 was developed to compete with CoD, sales numbers wise. that's why it was made for casual gamers and kids, who are by far the largest number of gamers. it is rated R but everyone knows that the lobbies are full of kids. RE4, 5, 6 & 8 lack all those OG things while 7 was an excellent RE game

I tried replaying it again recently and it's really bad honestly. I wish I could like it but it feels like a carbon copy of RE4 and I don't normally complain about graphics because Uncharted 1 has bad graphics but it's still enjoyable but the Graphics in RE5 actually reek and it feels like I'm just looking at shit the whole time. Tank controls and graphics are the only reasons I can't play this game for more than an hour.

Yeah, RE1 was single-handedly responsible for popularizing zombies in video games, but zombies have been done to death in the decades after. People are really tired of zombies at this point, so moving to other types of enemies was a sensible thing to do.

It's faithful in a lot of ways. It's puzzles, the tense action, the set pieces. But obviously shifts perspectives and arguably makes it more horror focused. And of course updates the story which is a given for a modern game. But overall it takes enough of the original to make it recognizable and a call back while improving on some things. The only thing it loses is the true carry over between the A and B runs

@@CrazeeAdam There's more aside from the missing A/B scenarios. There was also the "zapping" system, or the way in which the 2 different scenarios would interact with one another that was completely removed. (i.e. Leon does something in Scenario A that would reflect what Claire experiences in Scenario B.) Not only that, but the lack of 2 different scenarios between Leon and Claire creates inconsistencies and plot-holes that didn't exist back in OG. Enemies from the original game were also callously removed (spiders, crows, etc.) for no good reason. The original soundtrack wasn't recreated at all. Base game has so little soundtrack, instead opting for you to pay for added DLC content to get the original game's soundtrack plastered over the entire game. (Kinda shady if you ask me.) All in all, it was still a great game, but I think people are confusing the difference between if it was a great game or a great remake. Because the latter kinda...sends me through a few hoops whenever I hear it.

I thought the game was great also. It's more action/arcade and less of a dungeon crawl, but it's super fun. It's a bit short, but who cares. Just play it again!

I’m glad we got RE4R since it is a great game, but I certainly would’ve preferred if they did Code Veronica instead. Here’s to hoping that it gets the REmake treatment next, even if all signs are pointing towards RE5.
