Great character. Feel sorry for Captain K as he’s a German soldier hiding his anti nazi sentiments trapped in the situation he’s in. But that smile he gives when being dragged away was the face of a man who knows he never managed to achieve his ambitions or was ever free to live the life he wanted, but by saving JoJo’s life, made his last minutes the most purposeful anyone could hope for.

At 3:25 he’s carrying Rosie’s bike due to her being captured at that point, he was trying to do the right thing and deflect attention away from the boy and the Jewish girl hiding with him. 😢 he was on the wrong side and tried to make amends for his part in the war.

Same with Rosie (Scarlet Johansson) they are both characters who use humor to deflect to the tragedy of their situation. Both trapped on the wrong side of the war, wanting to do the right thing.

1) he needs to be in way more stuff 2) I had tears in my eyes when he saved Jo Jo at the end by putting the jacket on him and calling him names so the Russians wouldn’t think he was a nazi right before he was shot to death .
