Ross Chastain needed two more points (positions) with half a lap to go in Sunday's Martinsville elimination race. Going into turn 3, he point's his car into the outside wall and goes FULL THROTTLE AGAINST the wall to gain FIVE POSITIONS, break the Pole and Cup Car Track record to advance into the Championship 4 Finale race at Phoenix! A move previously only done successfully on video games and racing simulators! The ballsy move eliminates his rival Denny Hamlin leaving NASCAR drivers, announcers, and fans are in shock! A truly innovative never-been-done successfully before maneuver in the sport's 70+ year history!

@@sauce1232 Not really a NASCAR thing but a Racing thing in general (Personally I'm not into NASCAR at all), you need to slow down in a corner, the key being how to take it as fast as possible. Everyone slows down to take the apex without hitting the wall (which may cause a huge accident). What Chastain did was, essentially, "If I don't care about hitting the wall, I may go as fast as I can!", so he hit the wall on purpose, allowing him to take the corner at MUCH higher speed since, well, he didn't had to worry about either hitting the wall nor understering .

Not gonna lie. I set some track records doing this in Gran Turismo but I always assumed real life physics just wouldn't let you, especially around a turn that long, like the friction would be too high. Guess this shows the power of a nascar engine. Unbelievable move to see IRL.

The closest thing to this that I can think of was Earnhardts pass through the dirt at Riverside in 1987. He was second and Bodine was just in front but he got caught behind a slower car so Earnhardt cut the corner of a chicane and went straight over the dirt and passed both cars to take the lead. How many drivers did he put at risk then? Also, how many races did Earnhardt win by bumping and wrecking other drivers? 0:17 there is a whole group of people that were @ Martinsville when one of the greatest moments in NASCAR happened right in front of them and they were so worried about beating the crowd out of the racetrack that they completely missed it...

If Keselowski didn't lock up and Denny Didn't go low under him - The 1 would have run into the back of Denny (behind the 6 and not aside of him) at the line and not passed him. I don't think Ross could have come off the wall to pass. Perfect storm for it to all fall in place! Total glitch in the matrix move!

Keep watching post about Ross Chastains epic move. The word etiquette keeps coming up. I wonder how many driver’s that are trying to win are thinking about NASCAR etiquette. No current rule to prohibit drivers from wall riding. Don’t fault the driver for trying to win.
