I think it's meant to be a sort of universal product. That's why everyone knows what it is and why its shown in a variety of locations. It's a simple product that does almost everything. No, a plumbus is a useless item that has had great success due to successful marketing, like the products we see on late night infomercials. Everyone owns it and thinks it is useful, but it is completely unnecessary. Informercials ALWAYS say “It can do this and this and that! But that’s not all, it can even do this!” But there are better tools designed to do all of those things. The plumbus is a useless, multipurpose device from an informercial. That is all.

When it talked about transmissions, it meant transmission fluid, as in what you have in cars, the section right next to it, talking about how to fix it, tells you to crack the spindle until fluid runs clear.

A phone thirty years ago used to just to call but now it does so much more. So maybe in an another dimension phones didn't evolve as much, And Irons did and begin to do all this other stuff rather than just ironing. Just saying

spent so long explaining why its a iron then gave the right answer at the end. Like a plumbus is just a plumbus. It does whatever you want just treat it nicely.
