Love your niche of documenting perspectives from other space KZfaq content creators and the general public. What I really enjoy is watching you grow in your own knowledge of space flight like the rest of us and taking it in stride when you don’t know something and take it as an opportunity to learn rather difficult subject material.

Holy cow… The full stack and vertical tanks does look like an oil factory!!! 😃 Tim does a great job of capturing all of the technical details, and delivering them in a very understandable way… His interviews with Elon were fully conversant, focussed, and sooooo on topic… while walking at a fast pace! It was interesting to see Elon stop and think before answering some questions… Ellie brings the required broadcast news skills to a very high level… Pure hustle, way beyond talking head on TV! Joe T is a great partner… delivering tech answers about everything, while working on the road, from a Cyber Truck! The level of preparation that goes on in the back… is monstrous! The presentations are fantastic! I know it will be worth the time spent when these people make a video… Thank you! 😃

I think the next launch could be in 2 months. It looked to me like on the booster, the grid fins had difficulty maintaining attitude causing sloshing of the fuel as it tried to slow down. Resulting in a hard landing. With Starship, it looked like the grid fins were also having a similar problem righting the ship. I expect flight model adjustments in the software for both booster and starship will fix the issue.

Thank you for this. I really enjoyed your interview with Tim. I sometimes forget that not everyone thinks like we do. I work in Aerospace and truly geek out on this. Its true in my house. My wife didn't know or even care about the launch. I got excited and started telling her all about the launch after I got home from work and watched the SpaceX replay. Her eyes glazed over and she said something like "good honey, I'm glad you liked it." All she knows is I would volunteer for a trip to the Moon or more importantly the first trip to Mars. She thinks I'm crazy. Again, thank you. And cool kiss when you watched the launch. Not everyone gets a kiss from Miss Ellie in Space. Be safe.

Ellie, I watch your channel for the great interviews. Your former job as network reporter has made you able to do these in the right way. But, the live broadcast of the launch - the fact is that there is a limited number of feeds one can pay attention to and others... they have telescopes. So I would much rather see this channel focus on other video content than streaming the live at launch moment (you can record reaction for later if course). I've been following Tim and all the struggle they've had with broadcasting live. It can be a lot of effort in preparation but then like FH demo Tim's signal cut out just at launch (I was 😂), or how Tim, during Bob & Doug demo mission, stood in front of the camera and just in time happened to move out of away so the rocket got visible.

Ellie - I was happy to see you took my suggestion from last year to do a video insert of the actual SpaceX video of the launch, so we could see your reactions simultaneously with the actual launch. I watched your live stream (both, or 3?) And reacted as you did. SpaceX building a steel re-inforced concrete bathroom could serve as an emergency shelter if any personnel were caught in the area during a launch. If this video can serve as proof, it was a Success! Hurricane areas could use this as a proof a Hurricane proof shelter (or Homes) can be built! Building codes need to use this as a goal to aim for.

All of the budgeted $3 Billion federal funds already spent. By the way, in orgiginal plan this month was the month Starship lands on the Moon. So as a technology program this is hardly a success. LOX and CH4 leaking already before the launch and loss of control of the both vehicles. But getting to the space (though not to the orbit) was delinetely a step forward.

So if they are planning on a greatly increased tempo the obvious thing for them to do is start reducing truck traffic via water, methane & O2 pipelines and/or air separators. They put the equivalent of a 15 storey apartment building into orbit, that holds more payload than the entire ISS, which took 12 missions to build. First time ever for a ship that size. They could have just let the Starship orbit and it would still be the launch of the largest payload to space, but they had planned to land the booster and the ship on water. They are expendable because SpaceX is building ships so fast it's ridiculous. They will launch about 4 more this year, and most of them are already built just waiting their turn. I'm a big NASA fan, but SpaceX makes everything except the deep space missions look amateurish. NASA has 1 ship being built, SpaceX has a rocket garden.@@boatymcboatface666

Getting a job with SpaceX isn't something I would want to do. I am a crusty, old, boss man. For so many, the thought of working on a project like this would be a dream, but some of us, this would be a royal pain. Though my education is in engineering, my side jobs are in the music industry. I would rather work in the music industry than fight with a bunch of selfish, near-sighted, under-educated, engineers. If you have never dealt with an engineer, think of telling one that gravity isn't a constant, then watch him tell you, he doesn't think so. He will dismiss any data that comes to support your claim. Success! Loved watching it take off, separate, enter space while the booster landed on the ground and get recovered, have the engines refire again flawlessly and have the ship reached orbital velocity and fly straight and true into space, then reenter the earth's atmosphere pointing those heat tiles directly at the onrushing atmosphere, and see it touch ever so softly on the surface of the ocean and also get recovered, mostly unharmed. It was beautiful to watch that all come to fruition successfully!

Success 😂, the thing didn’t even complete a single orbit or complete its mission?

Thanks as always for the reporting! Hard to use the word success, though: - Booster crash landed in the Gulf - Apparent continuous oxidizer leak during Starship flight - Apparent uncontrolled re-entry - Control fins exhibited minimal authority during re-entry - Apparent loss of substantial amount of debris/tiles during re-entry - Not sure there was a re-light attempted Progress for sure (it didn't blow-up and the pad wasn't destroyed), but not much of a success.

This is a test flight of a highly experimental vehicle that's trying to do a lot of new things. The goal of these flights is to find out the flaws in the current design. That's how hardware -rich development works. Did everything go as hoped? Certainly not. But at the same time: it did get to orbit. They keep making progress, and the vehicle keeps failing in new ways. If you have followed the road to Falcon 9 reusability, you'll remember that it took them many attempts to get the recovery part figured out. But once they did figure it out, the success rate grew quickly. They're on the right track. They have something to celebrate after this launch.

This was not intended as orbital flight. It was intended to reach orbital speed, to try a realistic reentry into the atmosphere. And that is exactly what happened. But these plasma pictures weren't that new. Look at the X-15 movie. 🚀🏴‍☠️🎸

@@Niosusit seems like SpaceX is pretty good at learning from their mistakes, since they have so many failures! They are nowhere near manned flight and this whole refueling in space is a joke. Ya but let’s just throw billions more down the pooper! 🙄

Success? Well yes it met more of the planned targets and milestones than past flights, so I guess it’s an advancement but even ignoring all the failed reusability and internal to SpaceX (the “Pez dispenser” doors DID NOT CLOSE properly) targets, it didn't meet two of the most critical; re-ignition of SS motors (cancelled during flight for unknown reasons) and controlled re-entry. Geez, if the SLS test flight had failed like that it would already be cancelled.

It's like you didn't even watch the video especially the part when Tim Dodd was talking about how the SLS and starship have different goals and developed in different ways. The SLS did not go through the iterative style that Space X uses to design and build and test starship. The SLS is the finished rocket design and NASA is learning how to refine its use to avoid anomalies in flight. The starship is a test vehicle which costs a fraction of what the SLS costs. Space X expects to lose some of these test vehicles in the process of these launches. If you don't understand that you will keep coming to the wrong conclusion about how they differ.
