It seems through the law of attraction, these sorts of things happen to me regularly. No rhyme or reason, it must just be me. BUT, Huawei needs to figure out their warranty department and logistics. NO company should behave this way. A warranty should be applied once the purchase is done at the consumer end, NOT the supplier end. This is just wrong! So I'm in the midst of battling this out with Huawei and we'll see how it goes.

Sorry to hear, however as a Past Security rep with a large city, we got a brief from CSIS Canada, about Huawei, and other CCP entities in Canada, basically stay away from them. Great looking products with dirty secrets. Like the PRC lots of flash and attractive shiny stuff but no quality or express warranty, read the fine print..

Sorry to hear this. I like Huawei too, hopefully it will be properly resolved. That said, long live EU. 2 years of no questions asked warranty on non compliance with purchase contract. Something breaks, shop needs to replace product or return money. Socialism sometimes works.

Ugh! That's horrible. I had no idea the warranty timer could be started with the supplier. Sorry to hear about that mess!

That is a total bummer, I personally would never buy a product from them again. As a side note here in the UK the warranty is with the supplier.

That really sucks, who would have thought that the timer starts between supplier and manufacturer? That reminds me though I have to register my newly purchase K3iii.

Man, that SUCKS! Thank you for putting this out, I believe you on the Huawei products being good. But I unfortunately cannot support a company who has such flawed warranty service. Makes no sense at all! Hopefully, if something changes, you have a short follow-up video.. but for now, Huawei won't even be in my choices when I look at electronics. :/

Kobie I gripe about California rules and regulations but this would never happen here our consumer protection agency would never allow the product to be sold with such a phoney warranty. The Canadian Government should be made aware they might be more helpful I'm sure you also have a consumer protection agency

Same in Europe: if something stops working in the first 6 (new: 12 Months) after purchase, it is seen as defective since beginning. Even after until 24 months, but then the customer has to bring the evidence that the defect was already present. Hopefully Huawei will clear this issue to your satisfaction!

Nor here in Australia. Minimum 12 months warranty from day purchased by the consumer by law!

This doesn't sound legit, even for Canada. We have extremely strict rules and regulations concerning these types of things. Here in Canada, we can return to the store anything we bought, no questions asked. So not certain how something this bad slips. Warranty is "always" started on the day you purchased your item. Not when the supplier purchased it. They probably found some loophole in the system to let them do this and make the consumer run after their stuff. So frustrating! At the mercy of these companies makes you feel like you're 100% powerless.

I'm unfortunately one of those people who've had to fight my whole life for every little scrap of anything from decency to getting paid from companies I worked for and keeping my residence. Even battled the government once (I won). So I'm just used to these frustrating events and have no problem leaving no Stone unturned to get to the bottom of the issue including a resolution. There is an update to this. I'll be uploading it later 👍🏼

Why didn't the store take it as a return?, you bought new and they sold you a used monitor.

I chose not to return it as this is the monitor I wanted. They didn't sell me a used monitor. It IS brand new. We even tried another monitor from the same manufacturer, sealed in the box right off the shelf. Warranty also expired within a few days of my monitor. After the manager did more digging, it seems that the manufacturer is activating the start of the warranty based on when the supplier purchased the product, BEFORE a consumer/end user purchases it from the store. There's also no product registration section on the manufacturer site, only a warranty status lookup based on the serial number.

Interesting. You purchased the monitor from the retailer not the manufacturer so it should be the retailer that honors the warrantee. Do you not have a consumer guarantee act in Canada?

In Canada, most times you're told not to return an item to the store. After the sale, you deal with the manufacturer directly. It's stupid. The retailer has been great to work with but their head office apparently was unaware that this was even happening. The manager is bringing this up at their next meeting this week. They discounted the monitor for me as well.

Assuming you have the receipt, does Huawei not honor the purchase date as the warranty start date?

Apparently not. They clearly said that the item was 'previously used' and the only date they seem to go by is from the very first time the item was purchased, which would be when the supplier/reseller made the initial purchase for stock in this case. The other part of the issue is that there is no product registration on their site either.
