Why does everyone hate JoJo Siwa? Is this the downfall of JoJo Siwa? From child star to adult, her new “edgy” rebrand has confused the masses, while some claim it’s a cover-up for the dark and disturbing allegations against JoJo Siwa. From child fame to alleged crimes, JoJo Siwa’s story is as messy as it is unsettling. Was she used? Was this the plan all along? Who is to blame? And what is next for JoJo Siwa?

I am completely on your side, my only caveat is, if it's to make sure it's not a today problem and to teach accountability. As a teen I regularly wanted to quit orchestra because I was a teenager and did not feel like it. But I made a commitment and the money was spend so I had to do it till summer break and I was so happy I did and signed up again after summer. On the other hand when we got a new choir instructor whom I disliked from the first day (her music taste was horrible) it was a few weeks till summer and I made the same deal with my mom. I made a commitment and if I still wanted to quit in a few weeks when summer starts I could, which I did. If I would have disliked her for a good reason and not just her taste I could have quit immediately. That I know because in a different choir I got screamed at by the teacher and came home and told my mom I'm quitting because of it and she was absolutely fine it. So believe the child but also teach responsibility and dead lines, but honour them and don't move the goal post!

I don't think she's capable of admitting she was exploited because she literally has no idea what a normal, healthy childhood looks like. She was surrounded by kids who went through the same trials she did and parents who were all in on it. As Swoop said, she's a product. Products are rebranded as "new" and "different" all the time even when the exact same product existed previously. This is no different. Character histories are retconned all the time in TV, movies, and comics; Jojo is being treated the same way. What we're seeing *is* the authentic Jojo. When the fame train eventually stops, she's going to fall apart because she's been trained to be a marketing machine to sell exactly 1 product; herself.
@PosaPunto
@PosaPunto 15 күн бұрын
Wow you explained it perfectly. I couldn't describe what I was feeling about these new celebrities like there is something very disturbing and unnatural about it. It's because they're like a product, they are advertised like a product, people talk about them like a product, when they talk about themselves they talk as if they're a product, advertising themselves. Not like a celebrity. Nothing to add here.

I think you make an excellent point. Jojo's behavior isn't great, and she SHOULD know better, but with how she was raised, how could she? I think the real villains are the adults that guided her on this path, her mother, Abby or whatever her name is from that Dance show, and everyone else not letting her experience the world outside this showbiz/consumerism bubble.
@ang8491
@ang8491 14 күн бұрын
You most definitely have to put a lot of blame on her mother. Look at all the other girls that grew up with her. Majority of them stepped back from the fame and pressure. Jojo is the only one from that show who's mother continued to push her harder for her brand, while you have Nia, Maddie, Mackenzie etc still working under fame but not to this extreme.
@tessiepinkman
@tessiepinkman 5 күн бұрын
@@ang8491 Yeap, her mother is a menace. But, then again, so are all the other adults in her life. Why do people think that SHE thinks it's normal for HER to hang out with adults when she was just a kid? Why do people think that SHE thinks it's normal for adults to act inappropriately towards children? It's because the adults in HER life has made it clear that it IS _"normal"._ Everything that she's learned, from the moment she was born, is so very, very wrong. I hope she'll seek out _(and find)_ some serious help someday, because she is broken. *Deeply and profoundly broken.* I hope she breaks free from all the horrific people in her life that has turned her into this product, this HORRIBLE product. She seems, and probably IS, emotionally stunted and that's something that can't be healed - not fully. My own emotional growth was stunted when I went through several really violent and traumatic r-pes and other physical and mental abuse when I was a teenager, and it's taken until now, when I am 34 years old and have gone through 2 sessions *every* week for 4 years straight with a psychologist, to make me somewhat emotionally mature. I still have a long way to go, but I'm getting there. I see much of my _"old"_ self in Jojo's ways to express herself _(my EMOTIONAL self, not anything else, she and I are polar oposites)._ She turns 21 any day now, but she acts like a 12-14 year old. That could very well be a trauma response, OR it may be because she never needed to evolve further because everyone's always been catering to her needs. If you ask me personally, I believe it's a bit of both in her case. Though *by far* the biggest thing, and what I hope most of all for her, is that after she's gone through some HARD therapy and some *serious* introspection, she'll realize how SHE herself also have perpetuated this atmosphere and cycle of abuse and then tries her FUCKING BEST to make amends, because that's really all she can do. Her mother and a lot of other adults in her life should be in prison.

Yeah see this is why I have a hard time with it. It takes a long time to break free from grooming and when you do you realize you don't have an identity... it's hard for me to say she's abusive because that's literally all she knows. She really thought that everyone was treated that way and that people who weren't treated that way are probably weak and coddled. And it's what you have to tell yourself to survive or you'd unalive yourself...

For Jojo to publicly admit that she was exploited as a child, it would mean that she would have to reconsider her relationship with her own mother. Yeah. Like, I hold some serious hatred for Rosario Dawson backing her abusive, violent monster-of-a-landlord mother at age _forty_ but Jojo is only 20. She has time, and deserves time, in my opinion, to process the fact she's in a hierarchy of abuse before I do more than condemn specific actions and pan her character broadly. If she never gets there, I'll hold it against her a few years down the line the way I do Dawson, but for the meanwhile... I just hope she gets herself sorted before she does something truly unforgivable

I think JoJo with the Bow-bow is a prime example of what happens when a child doesn’t get socialized with other children. As an adult, she’s not relatable. She’s a product on a Walmart shelf. She’s just a marketing tool …a tool. It’s too bad her mother didn’t care about her as much as she did her bank account.

Agree, I know she’s an adult now and responsible for her actions.. but I can’t help but feel kind of bad for her in an objective sense, not literally because she has victims now. She didn’t get a choice in the trajectory of her life and now she has no idea who she is.

@@brittanyhunter35It takes a special kind of courage and fortitude to be able to break out of a cycle this intense. Especially when there is no one sane or rational in her corner. No one around her, including herself, would ever let someone like around her either because it threatens their world views and money. Hopefully a day will come where she has a moment of deep clarity and she finds a way to truly be herself and value herself and those around her. Until then she is still an adult responsible for her actions unfortunately. Hard to find a space to grow in the public limelight.

I find JoJo incredibly immature and annoying actually. I honestly don't think she has ever had an original idea in her life. She is the star that Nickelodeon loves, someone who just allows others to determine who she is, what she stands for, and how she expresses herself. The fact that she dressed up almost exactly like Gene Simmons yet doesn't understand when people make references to him. It's just embarrassing.

She's extremely immature and is really full of herself and her "excellence." I get it's good to have confidence and believe in yourself. But a little humbleness wouldn't hurt. I understand she wants to grow up from the child version, but sh1t, putting on a black costume with black glitter all over your face and body isn't "badazz" like she thinks. That only shows how much maturity she lacks.

Bc obviously there are many people who homeschool kids who are not pursuing a career in the entertainment industry. And even though there are child stars who still put their education first, there are many who don’t. As a child of homeschooling, I support this message. It really messed me up. It messed my sisters up. It messed my homeschooled friends up. It's a rare exception that someone fully homeschooled doesn't come out of it at least slightly messed up. In the US at least, homeschooling desperately needs oversight. At minimum, yearly testing to ensure kids keep up, as well as checks on the kids for abuse and neglect.

Someone pointed out that other rebrands like Miley Cyrus and Olivia Rodrigo worked partially because they had grown with their audience so their rebrand was showing their fans that “hey you’ve grown up and so have I” but Jojo never had an audience her age to grow up with. On Dance Moms her fans were adults who watch the show and when she left she started marketing to young children. She has the difficult job of having to create a new fan base from scratch but she keeps alienating demographics that could be her fans. Her whole rebrand is how she’s an adult making music for adults so children aren’t going to be her new fans, she’s openly supports people like James Charles and Colleen so anyone who knows what they did don’t want to associate with her, her “gay pop” comments has made the entire queer community despise her. Who does she have left to get support from?

Not even the children who used to be her fans I’ll tell you that much because as their babysitting/art teacher I know they are still children. This comment absolutely nails the situation. She could’ve grown with her audience but she doesn’t care about marketing an organic experience she wants what she wants when she wants it and up until the karma era she’s always gotten it so why should she think this would be any different. She is truly a child in an adult body trying to cosplay what she thinks it means to be grown up the saddest part is that no one ever helped her learn that on her own and her mother will go along with anything to grow her own back account.

I don’t know this person who is being discussed, but….sounds like she’s been exploited like so many child stars. It’s really sad….and now she’s continuing the cycle of abuse. Considering this is all she’s known, she may well not realize she’s being abusive, especially if she thinks that what she dealt with as a child wasn’t abuse. Honestly, she probably needs therapy to deal with it, but I’m no doctor. She's in a bubble surrounded by people who tell her everythings fine. And the fact that she was even going to the dance studio since the moment she started walking? Which is I’m sure on avg 9-14 months like I was a tad bit late and I started walking at 13 months. I’m the same exact age of Jojo (difference of 2 weeks), so to think at the time I was taking my first steps, someone my same age was taking her first dance classes is just wild. Even the normal age being minimum 18 months is too low like I think it should be 3-5 (I was in ballet at 3-4 and definitely threw a fit everyday I was NOT ready for it).

@@nakynaki part of me understands it in the sense of… since her mom owned the studio, it’s like she’s bringing her kid with her to work, not necessarily going out of her way to get her into class. The owners of the studio I grew up at did the same with their kids & nieces/nephews. Definitely not defending Jessa’s choices AT ALL, it’s just that that part of the story doesn’t seem surprising to me. Now the fact that she was putting her in COMPETITIONS is CRAZY

I dunno. My two year old has loved to dance since she was able to stand. We're looking into dance classes because it is honestly her favorite activity. To be clear, I have no aspirations to exploit this, we're only considering classes because we think she would have a good time, and if teacher/coach anything less than compassionate toward my child or expected things that weren't developmentally appropriate, we'd be out immediately.

Anyway, I have some pretty serious mental health issues, and it can be hard to find things to help manage. Your energy is my new go-to. Your smile is so real, Petty University is one of the most clever things ever, the sus pool almost scares me, and you always make me laugh. I may still be powerfully depressed, but you always get a laugh. It started with a manic depression diagnosis (I’m old), then bipolar, then severe bipolar, and most recently, schizoaffective disorder. It all started when I was twelve. I was institutionalized three times by my 16th birthday, and have been rather heavily-medicated since. I am NOT listing all of this for pity or anything other than to let you know that I see you. I hear you. And sometimes I rely on you. I’ll never understand or experience racism, but I’m not blind to it, either. So again, thank you for the content, thank you for the laughs when I need them, and thank you for being you. You’re really appreciated.

On the note of the video of Jojo as a 2 year old: When I was 2, I participated in a beauty contest. According to my mom, she had been having a day at the mall with 2 year old me and my 9 year old brother when she noticed a little beauty pageant going on. My mom liked to dress me up at that age, so I was wearing a cute fluffy dress, and my mom thought "why not, seems cute". Apparently I, wearing a white cotton and lace dress amongst the other 2 year old girls wearing sparkly pageant costumes, toddled out on stage, almost cried, and walked away with a 2nd place trophy. Somehow. My mom says she never considered signing me up for another because that incident alone showed her how exploitative and toxic that scene was. "No little girl should have her face slathered in makeup and parade around wearing sparkly mini-skirts!" - My mom.

So through the ages of 8-13 I was singing and dancing in stage productions. The costumes were appropriate and the stage makeup was light - mascara, blush and lipstick. But above all else, we weren't FORCED to do it and my mom wasn't militant about practicing. She was of the belief that things like that are supposed to be light hearted fun. The reason she joined the pageant was because she thought it was supposed to be basically a fun parade of cute little girls in cute dresses 😭 she was high key horrified by what they're actually like.

A teacher bullied my son when he attended a Catholic school, essentially making him cry (he was little!). She then told him, "Why don't you call your mommy?" I lost my mind. I can't even imagine allowing my child to be put through that kind of, and I'm just going to say it, abuse. Because that's what I'm seeing here. Absolutely not!! Btw, Mommy did go to that school. Wow.. 😔 So, not to make this about me of course cuz that’s not cool,, but I can identify.. My mother used to pull the same crap.. wouldn’t let up til we legit cried. It’s sickening.. almost like they wouldn’t feel ‘accomplished’ after us doing something “bad” til we would cry, I used to refuse to give her the satisfaction and would just hold it all in, but after a while I learned it was best just to cry so it would all finally End.. ugh 😢 ..I vowed right there n then, even remembering saying it out loud, that I would NEVER Ever do that to my future kids, nor would I let anyone else. Periodt. It still affects me to this day.. I’m just so very glad & thankful that we have a MUCH better & healthier relationship now as adults.. but ugh.. one never forgets.. maybe that’s how she was raised as a kid too, I dunno.. I just know that it hurt so bad, even after stupid lil petty kid mistakes etc. I felt like my brother n my father were my only true advocates n best friends in the house at the time.. still have the Diary I wrote about it all too.. never really told anyone this before, partly because I never thought anyone would even believe me, as my mother was such a “nice” aka phony person to everyone else like esp at work or to our neighbors, etc. But tbh, even if noone reads this- it truly feels great to get it off my chest even after all these years.. 😢❤💯🙏 I just pray anyone else going thru what I did- will find the courage to speak up to someone they truly trust.. Cuz verbal ab**e is just as awful as physical, but I endeared both behind closed doors. You never really know what a child is going thru behind closed doors, even if the parent seems like an amazing one. Ugh ..May God bless those who also went thru it, or still currently are.. there’s help out there, you do not and should NOT ever have to suffer in silence. No matter who’s hurting you.. the mental aspect can even be so much worse.. or to those who experienced it too themselves- PLZ do not repeat the cycle. It could & SHOULD end w you.. just my 2cents., God bless fam xo ♥️💯💜👍🙏✌️

I have the disease as well, along with thyroid disease-hashemoto and crohns diseease, rheumatoid arthritis and severe anxiety. Especially white coat syndrome. Fear of drs. I could've sued over and over for misdiagnosed my mother, drunk nurses, and so many other episodes that have now made me so scared of drs. True story! If you ever want my full story, please let me know. I've Journaled it all and I'm not the only victim of Geisinger medical system! Very poor care and they herd you like cattle, just a number, never ever caring about the patient. I would love swoop to deep dive this hospital that monopolized all the other local hospitals. It's disgusting! I'm soon changing hospitals even if it's out of my way by 40 minutes or more. They've almost killed my mother, brother and me. Not to mention a nurse that came into ER while drunk and playing golf. She admitted she was drunk and they didn't care. Speech slurred, an open syringe left on my mom's bed I had to point out. She was unable to work ER in her condition. I later in life due to my illnesses ended up in rehab thanks to the hospital who pushed drugs on me only to double dip by sending me to rehab they owned. Talk about frustration. I had a 2 year shoulder injury. They also falsely told me mom was dying and they tried everything only to realize they had the wrong patient and mother. I only brought her into the ER to have her eyes checked, then to be told she was dying. After they realized the mistake, the nurse was quickly removed. I never recovered from the ptsd that the hospital caused me. They're the most disfunction hospital I've ever come crossed. I absolutely have plenty to sue them and how they messed up my mental state, made me scared and I now have no faith in this hospital at all. They constantly make the front page of our local newspaper and sued over and over. I'm now mentally unwell, scared, paranoid and have no faith in the drs properly taking care of Mr. My mother passed away and I blame them and the way they blew her off as important. My grandchildren are devastated as I am. I'm off the subject a bit but I wish someone would expose this hospital and finally make them responsible! 🤬🤨🤔🙄🧐😳✌🏻🙄🎬

I am not a Melanie Martinez fan because I often listen to R&B music (and that isn't the genre she specializes), but can we acknowledge how big of a transformation she's had?? She literally went from human to an mystical creature. If anyone's made a dramatic change in her generation, it is Melanie and Lil Nas X.

Eh. I'm as big a fan of Melanie as anyone (top .1% of her listeners last year), but her thing was always "weird." I'm sad to see Cry Baby die, she did get a lot more "mystical," but I wouldn't really say she had a huge transformation from one opposite thing to another.

@@intermidable honestly I think most people don't actually listen to her lyrics from her cry baby era. They all had dark themes. She changed her look but not her genre or themes in her music.
