I'd have to rewatch the movie(s) to confirm, but I seem to recall that he walks "normally" when aboard ship and at sea.

This is, in fact, an actual condition sailor suffered, although IRL they would recover in a few hours, while Sparrow seems to be permanently affected.

If you follow the clues its heavily implied Sparrow was a Privateer at some point (and pretty much confirmed in a deleted scene) so it would make sense somewhat for him to be intelligent as many would be given some form of formal education and he would probably have learnt some languages along the way being a travelling man so hearing another cultures native tongue would be no problem as he probably could use other languages as basis.

Barbossa without the hat is so off putting for me. There is just something missing. Geoffrey Rush has said that the costume helped a lot with the character, so it makes sense. He has a certain swagger and confidence with it on.

Nobody wanted to be a pirate forever. Most pirates were in it for one big haul and then leave when they got their riches.

I think that's what makes his rivalry with Jack all the more interesting and believable, both men may not look it but have incredible intellect. Barbosa just has a bit more of a cold heart than Jack does, and Jack is a bit more eccentric. A prime example of 2 different visions for the same product.

I imagine it's like wearing heels for a stupidly long amount of time and taking them off suddenly. The weight distribution you used to counter and balance yourself whilst wearing heels just disappears and you feel like the ground is sinking beneath your feet.

Heck, I walked across a swaying bridge once and continued swaying after I stepped off on the other side.

What I never go about that was the gold was able to call to them and they don't need to breathe so her dropping it would really be an inconvenience as they could just jump down and pick it back up

This movie is silly to me. It's very tame compared to King Arthur (2004) Director's Cut.

Its actually an extreme form of sea sickness called land sickness where the roles get essentially reversed . The body adapts to the sea and hence develops an unusual sense of balance . How ever the reason why jacks mannerisms is so weird is because of madness caused due to heat stroke on the island he was moored at by Barbosa driving him ever so slightly mad this is spelled out by mister Gibbs when will Turner asks why he is so and if you happen to watch the 5th movie about captain slazar young jack in the flashback does not have said mannerisms which is an amazing touch to detail

My dad talks about a particular time he went to a movie theatre after being on a ship for a good while (he was in the navy) and realized he was zig zagging down the hall because usually that was how he could balance on ship.

From all of the knowledge I have, I am almost certain that Jack Sparrow is dehydrated.

That's exactly how I feel. I wouldn't consider it my favourite movie overall, because it lacks the the depth and slower, more emotionally charged parts of other great movies, but that's just because they aren't supposed to be there, not because the film makers did something wrong. It's just always a great experience watching this.

This or the mummy (not Tom cruise), both are great adventure movies that they just can’t seem to recreate anymore

Yh, in my opinion the first 3 felt like a trilogy. The fourth one I don’t mind because it has good action and good music, although I was surprised when I first saw it that will, Elizabeth or the Pearl weren’t there. The fifth one is meh for me because throughout the whole film jack is drunk and Yh he does like his rum but he is a smart man and he would never give away his compass for a bottle of rum. And it also clashes with the second film due to how jack got his compass. In dead mans chest, it was said that tia dalma gave jack the compass but in the fifth one it was given to him by his former captain🤷🏼‍♂️.

Taylor Paton i actually thought 4 was a really good movie, especially music and action, it was just lacking ib the ither lain characters. 5 was a really good story, and i liked caryina etc. The problem was jack. His goddamn voice was wrong, let alone him being drunk constantly. Although the writing for his part and amber didnt help

Theo Rodgers exactly. I don’t mind the story in the fifth film, it’s just that jack wasn’t himself and it clashed with the lore. I enjoy the fourth film and would watch It over again like 1-3, but it still doesn’t live up to 1-3 in my opinion.

Theo Rodgers I don’t know if 6 will have Johnny Depp though because Disney fired him due to all of the physical assault things with him and amber. I’ve heard they’re having a women replace him! I’m not sexist and all but no one can replace Johnny as sparrow especially not a women. If they make another they batter have Johnny back as jack, and yes I would like them to go more into the voodoo doll and jones.

The music is great, but it got a little tainted for me when I realized the main theme was lifted directly from Gladiator. Same composer, so I guess you can't call it plagiarism, but still... Great score and sound design none the less

The cue in Gladiator is several seconds long only, and it doesn't even serve as the main melody. Although I wouldn't exactly call it harmony, this is where it does get subjective, as you can say it sounds very similar, but for me, the Pirates melody (He's a Pirate) has many phrases which are completely different and bare no resemblance. On top of this, just concentrating on the first movie to be fair, other themes like 'Skulls and Crossbones', 'The Black Pearl', 'The Medallion Calls', and 'The Underwater March' are totally original and help to support the main theme. The main melody itself has a lot of variations, in the form of the love theme ('One Last Shot'), the battle theme, ('Barbossa is Hungry'), and so on. It's really excusable at worst.

It really was. Sure if you really look you can notice the fakeness and limitations, but you really have to look, and for 2003 that's phenomenal.

One of the details I remember is that though the rest of the pirates were CG'd up, they purposefully kept the actor's actual eyes whenever they could to keep them looking more "real".

I find this is true for 2 and 3 as well, CGI shows its age a little, but still convincing

Fun fact, it was actually a reference to a British TV series called The Fast Show. It was a sketch show where one of the characters would casually tell the end of a very remarkable story and finish off with a similarly casual "which was nice". Apparently Depp was a big fan of The Fast Show and even appeared on the final episode.

It can take just a few hours on a boat. I used to sail with my dad in the summer, just Saturday afternoons around a course for a few hours. Often when I laid down to go to sleep on those Saturday evenings my brain would still be compensating and it would feel like my bed was rocking a bit. Not noticeable when walking around doing stuff, but lying still I could feel it. Being on the ocean for weeks at a time would definitely require an adjustment period upon returning to land.

I was watching the making of the Lord of the Rings and in an interview Orlando Bloom said the movie he was then working on was called "Pirates of the Caribbean: The curse of the Black Pearl" and I thought oh god why would you go from LOTR to... that? Little did I know what a great move it would be.

Not to be that person but it's E I not I E for Keira's name. The I before E rule is stupid if we are gonna make names that are E I. Also I agree with you. I think if this movie was made now we would have de-aged Norrington digitally a little bit.

Another point to that is when he says "The code is more like Guidelines than actual rules" he was cursed, so my personal headcannon is that he stopped caring about the code completely when he was cursed.... he couldnt exactly die so he would fear the wrath of Captain Teague during that time
