Spider-Man Homecoming is on its way! So this week we go all the way back to the beginning of what really kicked off the superhero love. You guys voted and out of 7000 votes, 66% of you wanted the Raimi Trilogy. So, here's everything right with Spider-Man 2002. I will be spacing them out until Homecoming, so don't yell at me next week.

That's multiple points tbh. As great as Rami's Spidey movies are (3 has some excellent moments), New York itself never really felt as much of a character like it is in the comics. This moment was really the only time (along with the train scene in 2). It's a beautiful message, but it was even more important when it came out. We all know this came out after 9/11. For those who don't remember, the twin towers were in the early marketing for the film. So the line "You mess with one of us, you mess with all of us" really impacted people. The film came out during a time when people needed hope. When people needed to smile. I think it's why it broke so many records at the time. Not only was it a great film, but like Spider-Man himself, it came when we needed it most.

@@sgtsongbird lmao why would I have included the “I resent that” part? She didn’t accuse me of slander, she asked what the difference was. “Slander is spoken. In print, it’s libel.” No need to include the irrelevant scraps of the quote. Unless you believe that whenever somebody quotes a movie, they’re always going to include the full context. Because if so, that kinda dialogue would be pretty clunky in real life: “can anybody tell me the difference between slander and libel?” “It is not. I resent that. Slander is spoken. actually in the comics spiderman is able to climb wall because of static energy, spiders use something called Van der Waals force, an electrostatic force that attracts all surfaces on a molecular level. Spiders have tiny hairs on their feet, and each hair causes a slight bond to a surface that's not much on its own. However, the thousands of hairs multiply that force until it can support the spider's weight,just wanna put it out there

Cinema Wins on the other hand, points out the good in each film while still taking in consideration attention to detail and looking past it's flaws. Gotta tell you man. Love your optimism. I think we as a society have been obsessed for so long with negative criticism. I feel like that's the only time that people really want to give their criticism. I digress. All I'm saying is that there is a lot more negative criticism than positive. And it really opens a newer, happier tone to watching movies when you actually take the time to watch how movies are done well. Thank you for this kind of channel! In the days of "everybody's a critic," we need this kind of channel in all our lives.

Oh, definitely. When I stopped and thought about it, Spider-man 3 actually did a pretty great job of juggling all the villains and intersecting the plotlines. It's just the execution were they screwed up, like Eddie's wining, Peter's dancing, and Gwen's... well, everything about Gwen. The only stuff they messed up was the stuff related to the Symbiote. My theory is that Raimi was ticked by the Studio forcing him to include Venom, so he deliberately sabotaged it. If he wanted to, he could have made it pretty awesome. In terms of the plot, though, it was perfect.

13:13 For me, the key to a good superhero movie RELIES on the audience being able to like the character BEFORE they become a hero. That's what the Origin Story needs to accomplish. This movie did it so well, and so many of the best Marvel Films followed the same concept. I loved Steve before he got juiced. I thought Tony was hilarious before he put on the armor. It's vital!

The organic webbing corrects a glaring flaw in the comics. He's Spiderman. What's the #1 thing everyone things about when they think of spiders? Yes, webs. That Parker didn't gain that power makes no sense. Not does the fact that a high-school kid, however bright, knocks up a super-strong, flexible, webbing plus shooters in his bedroom.

Damn, Nick is the most wrong out of all of them lol. Someone read too much Ultimate Spider-Man, post 2000 stuff. Peter was already a genius, a big way they portrayed that was his inventing the web shooters and the fluid used in them. They were not a simple contraption at all, and his webbing was something he tried to make money with later. They pretty much laughed at him when they found out it wasn't permanent. Wayyyyyy later they said he naturally knew how to make webbing because of his powers, but I was always fine with the whole "He's a fucking genius thing" lol. One thing you can never sleep on is how intelligent Spidey is.

I never understood it the other way around. So, Spider-Man mutates all the powers of a genetically modified spider. He can jump. He's very strong, relative to his size. He can climb walls and stick to just about any surface. He's fast and has incredible reflexes. He has preternatural awareness. (Also, he is extremely durable, even though spiders are really easy to squish, but that's kinda just tacked on to every superhero, so whatevs.) But what is the most iconic feature of a spider? They spin webs. They produce from their bodies a sticky silken string that they can climb along, hang from, and catch things in. Spider-Man somehow doesn't get that ability? And needs to create gadgets to do that most-iconic spider thing? Why!? I mean, I'm cool with him being smart and all, but I like it when he's high-school-nerd smart. If he's super-genius smart, with the creating of gadgets, man, that just blends into Tony Stark and Bruce Banner territory and then what makes Stark so special? Literally the only thing he has over Spider-Man in the MCU is money. The organic webbing not only makes more sense, but keeps his character from stepping on the toes of other heroes. Oddly enough, since only the Raimi Spider-Man had the organic webbing, he was also the only superhero in his story and didn't need to worry about treading on other heroes. Bad call, MCU. Bad call.

The Godfather imo Toby was the better Peter and Garfield the better Spider-man. Holland seems to finally get the balancing between the two right, and his jokeyness can be attributed to the fact we're finally getting a Spider-man that's actually around the age to still be a convincing high school student and as such is considerably less mature and experienced than the prior incarnations set to film.
@JakkFrost1
@JakkFrost1 7 жыл бұрын
Tobey's version isn't accurate to Spidey though. Spidey's a motormouth, joking a mile a minute, usually specifically TO annoy his enemies, keep them off balance and make them get sloppy. In Civil War, Holland was less about the jokes and more about the geeking out and fanboying, so hopefully that changes in Homecoming. Basically, Tobey was a good Peter, and Andrew was a good Spidey, now we just have to wait and see how Tom does in his own movie.

Raime's Spider-Man is not one of the best comic book movies. It's THE best of the comic book movies. Despite some changes to the origin material like the web-shooters, it captured Peter and Spidey in a well-balanced measure. Also, people need to stop dissing Spider-Man 3. It wasn't bad, it they probably should've kept it to one villain otherwise it's great on its own.

The sin of Spiderman 3 was too many villains. Guess they didn't figure it out when they made The Amazing Spiderman 2. We can only wonder if the Marvel cinematic universe is going to learn...

The Amazing Spiderman movies were absolute garbage...Homecoming seems to be going in the right direction. Tobey Maguire will forever be the best though.

it probably would've been better if sandman and somebody else maybe dock ock were in 4 seeing as both were rather nice villains not being entirely evil leaving just venom and harry osbourne for the jekyll and hyde theme which venom pulls off extremely well. eddie brock venom was the best villain since all of them. we really haven't had a bad villain in the 3 sam raimi films we've had.

5:24 How cool is it that you can pause and read that article (at least most of it) and have it actually make sense and expand the world of the film? It’s like reading the excerpts at the end of Watchmen’s book chapters. Also: the costume design montage might be my favorite scene of the movie. The editing, overlapping shots, and the score all work perfectly to create that sense of inspiration and wonder as Peter first begins his path to becoming Spider-Man
