the Red Rising sequel series is incredible. It's not for everyone since it's quite different from the trilogy. It's even darker, slower paced, adds multiple POVs and some other things. But it's undoubtedly better written. Pierce Brown definitely leveled up after Morning Star.

I love that because she reads so many different genres (and is so articulate about explaining what specifically she liked and disliked about each book) that her recommendations aren't just "I loved this one so you will too!" I really recommend Girl, woman, other by Bernadine evaristo it’s so so good!! It doesn’t really have punctuation which is not great but after a few pages you get used to it and it’s sooo worth it!!

i read this a couple of years ago actually - the twist was gas and it was set up well for sure by the narrative, buuut i found that the whole book seemed to only exist to do The Twist, if that makes sense, and so it kinda dragged sometimes for me... i think i gave it 3.5? def was a good read

Your review of Being Mortal reminds me of the same reaction I had to Smoke Gets in Your Eyes & Other Lessons from the Crematory by Caitlin Doughty. I highly recommend you pick it up, as it's really entertaining, educational, and so morbid in places! It strikes me as something you would love. ;)

i read me being me is exactly as insane as you being you. its a sort of coming of age story, but what really made me buy it was the fact that it was made entirely out of lists. & oddly enough, it didnt take away from the plot at all, i binged the last four hundred pages in one night. its a big book but i highly recommend it.

I liked reading "impossible owls" by brian phillips recently--it's an essay collection and I've liked the first couple essays a lot. or alternately one of my favorite books ever is "the thirty names of night" by zeyn joukhadar, which is fiction and about art and grief and community and gender and is really just beautiful

I highly recommend Jason Pargin (John dies at the end) its neat bc the series doesn't need to be read in order so I recommend This Book is Full of Spiders, one of my all time favorite books. Its horror comedy. And If This Book Exists, You're in the Wrong Universe. If you want a neat YA scifi written in a way I haven't seen before I suggest the illuminae trilogy. I had a LOT of fun with that one.

I believe the author’s note in True Biz explains how the ending is intentionally left vague. Don’t want to spoil here but worth checking that out to see if it changes your thoughts at all!
