i like how she's so different...something about her makes me trust her...so it fits into character...she's so sincere, and that's what makes her so moving

i've watched several videos of this production, and i must say its the best quality JCS I've ever seen. It makes me appriciate the show in an entirely new way. everyone is so talented and incredible. kudos to the cast/crew. and p.s. news flash. no one in the bible was white. they were all middle eastern

He played Jesus in Passau in 2004 and later in Vienna in concert version of JCS. There is an official recording of that and it's fantastic :) Though I agree that his Jesus is kind of unusual :)

No. This should really be called The Gospel of Judas, since the whole rocl opera is about how Judas perceived things. Judas is actually the main character, not Jesus. Tim Rice even says so!

Personally I see the realtionship between as purposefully ambiguous. It is clearly incredibly close and it is possible that they may have further feelings for each other but if they do then they accept that it could never actually come to anything, and it is done subtly, it is consigned to lingering looks and how lines are performed

I was replying to LadyRiwen's comment... you can see that if you view all the comments made about this videoclip. But anyway, she said, "I must say that I vote for Eric Minsk as Mary. He could nail it" So I laughed.

What makes the original aside from the voices is after Judas's outburst Mary (Yvonne) sings to Judas with pure compassion. This Mary not only has no compassion but she sings to Jesus, missing that amazing emote that Yvonne did so so well. This is good, buy it didn't come close to the original.

i had never really been a fan of sarich although i never thought he was bad. but after seeing this performance i definitely think he plays a great judas. that note was he was hitting was nuts!

Drew Sarich is really an amazing Judas, but I agree when they say the jesus should've been better. I had expected a bit more force - and was sorely disappointed. I think Renee Castle was a better Mary, but this one is also astounding. And who created that WONDERFUL scenery?

Wow, just have to comment again on this. I give Kudos to her for adding her own twist to the song. That being said, this is my favorite song in the whole world so doing an R&B rendition is really a revulsion. She has a strong powerful voice, just don't f*ck with my song, PLEASE!

Agreed! Drew is...He's Drew. What else can you say? Although I think, in this song, it's okay for Jesus' voice to be the weakest of the three. I mean, he's kind of being pulled between Judas and Mary in this number.

She like most actresses to touch the role, adds her own interpretation to not only the character but by what way she would choose to try and reach jesus/react to Judas. Here she is trying a much more happy and go lucky tactic as opposed to the 73 version overbearing tactic. and the 2000s typical angry woman tactic.

so true this lady has no passion, I believe a voice is also an instrament and sould be used accordingly . Yvonne was the best check out the farewell tour 2008 she is so far better but lacks passion too , cant beat Yvonne

Seen Drew in Les Miserables in London and tbh, I prefer him in the role of Judas compared to Jean Val Jean, I think it suits him better :)

This version is a bit too upbeat for the calming, soothing tone it is supposed to have. Plus, Judas' intrusion is less significant in this version since the vocals aren't so strongly different.
