I appreciate you addressing the sarcasm issues that we Americans have. I (as an American female) get misunderstood A LOT if my humor/sarcasm is not overtly and annoyingly obvious. I find myself just keeping my mouth shut or holding my tongue because I cannot filter what I say fast enough. Just easier to not speak. I wish I lived in the uk. Ugh I got what papa gut meant the moment I read it.

Something wild I’ve learned about Def Noodles is that he genuinely believes everyone who doesn’t like him is being paid by Keemstar to further some agenda. Like, Def thinks even Jessi Smiles is on Keem’s payroll because she just… doesn’t think he’s very funny.

I was a daily Def Noodles watcher but tuned out a couple months ago when he got so negative and defensive all the time. Thank you for the in depth video so I could get caught up about what’s going on without having to give him any views!

Not sure if you are aware but Gabbie was talking smack on you on a stream with Keemstar, Nick, and Edwin. You even had a compassionate take on her recent TikTok meltdown. I wouldn’t give her the benefit of the doubt at all. She is still cold and calculated. She also Mom-shamed Jessi Smiles! Gabbie is still thinking about her all the time 😂

Honestly unless it's something really crazy or a bunch of things happened in a row you shouldn't feel pressured to hold off in case a vague "something" happens. There's always something going on online. As long as you get the important broad strokes of the story I personally think you're good.

Lol your right Americans atm cannot understand sarcasm. But I like to think that it's mostly because extremists abuse sarcasm and jokes in order to get their ideas mainstream. So in retaliation people who are sensible now are hesitant towards thinking something is actually sarcastic. Especially the younger generation. So if your viewers are younger Americans it would make sense that they are defensive of statements even if they are supposed to be interpreted as sarcastic.

As an American, I've noticed the sarcasm thing too! From what I've observed, Americans generally have a cultural sense of humour that is less dependent on sarcasm, as while we utilize it fairly often, especially with older generations, we tolerate it less in especially taboo topics. I think this is why we'll be sarcastic around a barbeque or playing cards with our great uncle twice removed, but not expect or process sarcasm when talking about the Lopez brothers' allegations and similar topics. It's like an unwritten social rule with the younger generations that if the topic is serious, you shouldn't really joke about it in any way, including in a sarcastic manner. Of course, I'm not an expert, all of this is just random kid's observations. Don't take this as the be-all of social-linguistic information.

I really, truly cannot wrap my head around someone claiming that no one can take a joke….not be able to take a joke aimed at him. Like, sir? Are we okay? Is our brain turned on today?

I'm so so happy to see you post this video. I used to be a def noodles fan and loved his commentary/news videos but something changed ab him and he went downhill hard really fast. I'm not sure what happened to him but I unsubbed today. I just can't watch him anymore. And his misinterpretation of Charlie's video was way out of line smh

With the statement of sarcasm as American, I can agree on it to an extent because I’ve seen kids my age and a little older or younger than me are fluent in sarcasm. But the older generation doesn’t understand sarcasm as much as the younger generation. And I love your videos. I actually like that you upload once “dirty loundry” pilles up… you know what I mean 🤷‍♀️. I remember 2016 when tea channels uploaded videos 5 sec after something happend. That screams poor quality and we have TikTok for that. Defnoodles used to be slightish aware when he showed this kind of problematic behaviour in the past. I remember he got rid of defnoodles persona on YT and uploaded just tea for some time. This just blows my mind… wth. Since I was not keeping up with whatever is he doing it just looks like he went full Gabbie Hanna.

as an american, i think our general issue with deciphering sarcasm comes from the logic of ‘all jokes hold a bit of truth to them.’ so a lot of americans tend to get riled up over jokes or sarcastic statements because we’re sort of ‘wired’ to think: ‘oh, this person isn’t actually joking.’ that being said, as a very sarcastic american with a dry sense of humor, i’m always being misinterpreted. i cannot count the amount of times where people don’t pick up on my sarcasm or dry humor and think that i’m actually upset about something trivial while in conversation 💀

Don't worry Angelika I get your sarcasm. As an American who is very sarcastic I get comments all the time after I say something with people being like omg you're serious and I always have to say no it's sarcasm/ jokes chill out.
