I just watched a tiktok of a girl who was put in Dubai prison for 6 months just because her boyfriend accused her of posessing drugs which were NEVER found on her and her substance test came negative. The conditions in prison were extremely inhumane and way way worse then in the mens prison.

I don't understand why people think prison should be a joy - prison is meant to be a deterrent - that's why the crime there is low and you can wear your nice stuff, have a mobile phone without the fear of being murdered, stabbed or beaten up. We had six murders in the UK in the spate of a week because of undesirables, drugs are rife, and the shoplifting here is insane. We need deterrent like this so decent folk can enjoy a life without fear - well done Dubai. Also, your story about some tiktok girl let’s know both sides of a story don’t simplify, how do you know she didn't have drugs? Because she said so - really.

Hey! Living in Dubai. Totally agree with what you said. The lack of green spaces is the biggest con with the quality of air for me. But the city is evolving and they are more greenery and cool walks compared to five years ago for example. The pros like the safety of this city and the easy lifestyle make up for it for me. It's true that summer can be tough but half of the year the weather is perfect. Living inside for me is not different from five months of winter in Europe. We prefer all to stay inside there too. I don't think that we will live all our life there but honestly when we see all the problems in the West we are not in hurry to leave and consider ourselves lucky to live in Dubai.

No one was kicked out during COVID. People lost their jobs and left. UAE Government administered free COVID vaccines to everyone in the UAE. In fact, the Indian Government shamefully, didn't allow people who have lost jobs to easily come in. They kept the borders closed initially for two months and then allowed evacuation flights and quarantine requirements for nearly one year whereas India itself got millions of cases. There was no regular flights, but chartered flights for nearly one year from the start of COVID. Indian government just wasn't taking back its citizens as they should. There never could be any reason good enough for putting a restriction on Indian citizens from returning home.

Too many strict laws in my perspective that I would much rather not have to worry about. And there is always a feeling of second class citizen with the way everything is setup for Emirates', for most. I don’t know why people want to live long term in Dubai if you are not a multi millionaire with homes in other countries. I’ve been on holiday there 4 times. I’m done by 10 days after admiring the architecture, infrastructure and 5 star hotels. To be honest, the food is not that great either. There’s no traditional culture, no fabulous souks to enjoy like in Muscat, Kusadasi or Istanbul or even Bangkok. It’s all fake life and most people who intended to stay over time end up broke and fleeing their creditors 😅 I moved to Nigeria from my birth place in UK. I have air conditioning installed in Lagos but rarely use it. Constant exposure to it is detrimental to your health. Open the bloody windows😅
