Welcome to Malaysia, Saira! As a Malaysian, we often overlook all these blessings but thank you for mentioning them (and now I'm reminded how blessed we are here). It's a very lovely place for the most part. Malaysia isn't perfect, but nowhere is. We still have racial discrimination, garbage, and water issues in some states but overall it's nothing too alarming, I'd like to think. About the mosquitos, I really wish you well. If you happen to be in a highly infested mosquito area (plenty around), just spray some good quality bug spray. You'll be ok in sha'Allah.

I totally agree about how Malaysians aren't discriminative, they are not the type who will stare at you and make you feel uncomfortable. They just mind their own business, when you go to a restaurant or coffee, you literally get your own privacy despite the crowd. Nobody will stare or judge or whatever. I'm talking based on my experience. And yes, about the chilled mannerisms, i think sometimes if we chase the worldly life so much, we will forget about our soul and spirituality. I think it's something about the tropical vibes too, MashaAllah.

@Aim201 I think gossip happens no matter where you live anywhere in the world. I was only focusing on how they won't stare at you and make you feel uncomfortable. Maybe you haven't travelled enough to understand what I really meant to say. There are many countries where people will just stare and judge you with their death stares, you can't even sip your coffee comfortably. I mean, people will talk no matter, leave them be, it's the moment when they invade your privacy with their stares that gets on my nerves. As for the sihr matter, leave it to Allah, He is the all-Knowing.

Haven't you been taught, your happiness is in your own hands, since those are the only ones you could control? You can't control people's thoughts and mouths, and it seems you haven't travelled much if you think mere gossips is somehow worse than being attacked for wearing hijab, or worse, snuffed out for not wearing one. Appreciate that Malaysians won't do either to you, and im speaking as a non hijabi Malay Muslim living in all-Malay neighbourhood.

@shinachikudidnthappen..mov9196 just say you don't follow Quran and Sunnah, that's all. Bc what you do is never written in the Quran and Sunnah bc in hadith it's says, The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "He who believes in Allah and the Last Day must either speak good or remain silent." Tell the world that you don't follow Quran and Sunnah. In the hadith of Abu Dawud 4874, Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was asked a question about Ghibah (backbiting). Someone came to him and said what if what I say about my brother is in fact truth? Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) replied, if are right, you have slandered him, and if what you say of him is not true, you have reviled him. In the hadith, it says the punishment for backbiting is that Allah will take away from your account of good deeds and give it to the one you hurt as an act of compensation. If you do, give daleel.

Malaysia is my first choice to move there and live in the future. I have been to Malaysia 6 times myself and loved everything about it (apart from the distance to the UK). Yes I think Turkey and Egypt were amazing places and I agree about your points regarding UAE. I would consider Qatar but it is still a little expensive but decent. As for Pakistan, I wouldn't really settle there because the country is a mess. It was a toss between Malaysia and Indonesia - both amazing countries but it is Malaysia for me on many levels. I have been to Penang, Melaka and KL but go and see Langkawi, as well as Perhentian Islands, Redang Island, Tioman Islands, and Borneo Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak regions). Also go to Johor Bahru to get to Singapore too. Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines etc are great countries to visit. Southern Thailand has a large Muslim population too especially around Krabi.. There are lots of mosquitoes in Malaysia for sure that carry diseases so be careful of that. As for living in Saudi Arabia, I wouldn't live there at all. Indonesia is much cheaper but there are a few pollution issues although has some amazing places there. Singapore is expensive and even Thailand is quite expensive these days. As a non-Muslim country, Thailand is actually a great country to go to for Halal food and masjids as well as amazing food and tourist sites.

Welcome to Malaysia, sister. As a Muslim, I welcome our Muslims brothers and sisters to Malaysia, especially those who can add value to the community and nation. Malaysia has its natives - the Malays and nearly 200 other native ethnics (various religions) who are very protective of this country as we've nearly lost it for hundreds of years before due to colonizations and occupations, and not looking forward to experience that again. Having said that, we're highly tolerant people who will respect those who give us respect. Malaysia's social fabric is intertwined with high tolerance to different religions and cultures, and we hope those who come here would practice that too. Malaysia is an underrated country (thankfully) and far from perfect, but we're proud of us.

Malaysia is an ex British colony. So fast forward to today, more or less, whatever you have in the UK, more or less is the same here in Malaysia. Moderate Islam, the majority of people are nice and can speak English (or at least understand English), and we inherited systems from the UK (politics, banking, governance, healthcare, road system, electrical, etc). It should be a no-brainer for UK Muslims to migrate here.

Just ask the seller if you are not sure of it,. even if the seller is non Muslim they will tell you it's not halal. I'm a Malaysian,. seriously I'm proud of my country. Just a few things need fixing.
