No, thanks for confirming this is actual in-engine CONSOLE footage. PC version wouldn't have such horrendous hair rendering, as DLSS would resolve it much cleaner. I'm sure they could afford to go with more RT reflections + RT shadows and AO on PC so that those dissoclusion artifacts wouldn't be so prevalent. I hate those disappearing screen-space shadows on the corner of the screen. RDR2 is full of them.

Yeah, I've seen a fair few instances here in Florida where a bridge is replaced by a newer, bigger version or simply decommissioned due to being connected to a now-unused island and the old/decommissioned bridge simply has parts removed to prevent easy travel there over automobile. The map and locations shown in the trailer follow geographic locations down south extremely closely, it's pretty interesting.

2:24 In real life you keep wheelies around the balance point with gas and rear brake. If you have too much angle, push the rear brake and if the nose wants to go down give it more gas. You can do this smoothly or more aggressively. While the scene was likely scripted - and the acceleration was probably a bit extreme judging by the rear shock compression - I think they got the right idea. Although it is unlikely wheelies will work like this in the-game.
@vaenii50566 ай бұрын
I would love if they did though 😄
@raksanrambo12306 ай бұрын
Would be fun if there was a proper bikelife scene and realistic wheelie physics
@pek76296 ай бұрын
Unlikely, but somewhat possible, possibly. I used to mod GTA V handling and managed to make all that work on bikes (and bunch of other things too from locking rear brake to fixing 1st person camera). With manual clutch and gears script it was wicked fun. The only thing I couldn't fix was the fact GTA V gives you power boost when leaning forward, and massive power boost when leaning back. That needs to be forgotten and the very idea of it can burn in hell.
@vaenii50566 ай бұрын
@@pek7629 What the heck you too. I managed to do the same years ago but never published the mod because couldn't figure out how how to make both wheelies and nose wheelies work perfectly at the same time and at some point had to uninstall the game because I was running out of hard disk space. I took copies with the intention to finish the mod one day but honestly I have no idea where they are now. However as I said, the issue I was having that either wheelies or nose wheelies worked solely based on physics but not both at the same time. There was one value that if you changed it it would alter the balance between the two and basically disable the other. Riding was great fun either way though especially when combined improved (and freed up!) first person camera and manual gearbox mod. I also spend a lot of time adjusting the general rideability to make the bikes less skittish and turn more like they should.
@pek76296 ай бұрын
@@vaenii5056 Wow, almost exactly what happened to me. Ran out of space and uninstalled too lol. But I do have everything in store if I return working on it. I went in too deep with close to real track lap times and accurate gearing, all that. I actually gave up on stoppies and focused on wheelies since it's clearly the priority on having fun. But goddamn it was painful process without documentation. I only managed to write down (now ancient) tutorial how to make motorcycle fpp cam lean in and move more. Combine that with extended cam script and it's golden. Still got some videos of the early versions in YT. Havent touched GTA in a long time, because the bike sims (GP Bikes & MX Bikes) I used for reference became my favorite games and I tinker those instead nowadays. I still miss cruising around in heavily modded GTA tho. The amount of work and catching up is a huge barrier.

"Is there such a thing as screen space shadows" As a matter of fact, yes! It's used as a secondary shadowing algorithm to fix peter panning, add contact shadows on fine geometry to allow the shadow caster to be rendered at a lower geometric LOD, or to shadow very distant geometry which falls outside the cascade. Examples of games which use screen space shadows that i can think of right off the top of my head are Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis. Prefiltered shadow rendering algorithms can produce false internal penumbra, effectively shadow holes, such as Exponential/Variance/Moment Shadow Maps. Screen space shadows can actually help heal these visual gaffes. Cyberpunk 2077 uses an algorithm from this family as its primary shadow mapping renderer, which is also why it uses screen space shadows to help heal those shadow holes. I think what you're seeing here is a false penumbra from prefiltered shadowmapping.

I know this is lighthearted nitpicking, but I really hope any potential PC release of this game doesn't force TAA like RDR2 does. This one trailer already shows enough artifacts to last a lifetime. Its a worthwhile tradeoff for visuals like these, especially on a console, but people will play this for decades, it's resonable to expect SSAA (and the perfect image quality it provides) will be more than achievable for most of its lifespan. It'd be a shame if we never got the option.
@talpatv5126 ай бұрын
I just tought its me but modern games are very taa heavy, and sometimes blurry, visually good but blurry, and its stupid to say the least, it might work but in the long run people will have way better hardware so just give em the choice, look at max payne 3 at max with 4k and maxed out ssaa, while not possible in 2012, now it is and damn it looks better than most releases 11 years later

@@sumitupadhayay2270 DLSS (or DLAA more specifically) is better than TAA but it's still in the same ballpark and still has some artifacts you simply can't get rid of. Supersampling (SSAA) isn't even the same league, because it's not even a solution to the aliasing problem, it bypasses it all together. If you have the performance for it, it's objectively the best option, it's literally the ground truth DLSS, TAA, and everything else attempts to replicate.

cool, I wonder how much of this will improve or completely change by the next trailer and even more so by release, its rockstar so I wouldn´t be surprised if the game ends up looking quite a bit different and better

Just look at rdr2 trailers you can see the game improving over time

GTA Vs first trailer had so many GTA IV assets and lighting it wasn't even funny. So, yeah the game will probably look way better on release.

@@jorge-wh4pf ...and? While many things are jokes, many are genuine criticisms as well. The rendering artifacts on the hair are a very big example.

@@Something_Disgusting You can't even really see that and that is probably just the movement animation. Im guessing it's console gamplay wich means you can expect this type of bug during rendering

yeah it’s a trash game. they better not release it in 2025 because it needs a lot more work. like why is there not Peely from fortnite? We need him.

Screen space shadows as a form of level of detail system would be brilliant actually. As long as it is only used for objects in the distance it's a great way to do good looking shadows pretty cheaply. However I remember Halo reach attempted something like this that highlighted the characters and it didn't look very good. Now that you mentioned it I'm starting to look at all the shadows and see how smeary they are.
