So, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is, I'm guessing, based on a book. And that book is probably good. This movie is not. It's one of the most boring movies ever made, actually, and I'm not even joking.
Next week: Magical sins & animated sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin! Which movie's sins should we expose next?!

Rishi2379 it's like Goddess of Love from Gods of Egypt. She can command anyone who hasn't found true love but without her protection, hell would grab her from anywhere she's at. She can't just command those who have lusted for true love to fuck off because she's being desired. Like Emma on the wind, the wind desires her, may bend at her will but still desires her.

I know right?!!!! It didn’t do anything justice. Especially the humor. They ruined the main source of humor, Enoch. He isn’t even my favorite character but I think we can all agree that Enoch was on another level. Anyway, the reason I responded to this is because I did the same exact thing you did. I would walk into my sisters room and recite things. It would really annoy her... My new favorite thing is to call my family “Lazy Sods”

differences from the book (which are totally sins) 1. Emma has fire, Olive has floating. the only reason this was changed was to have that shitty scene for Emma to blush while Jacob ties the rope around her waist. 2. by the way, Jake is actually Jacob 3. Abe is Jewish and he is from Poland he has a thick Polish accent, calling Jacob 'Yakob' 4. Millard is a relevant character and is the most mature of the peculiars. He's at least 16, but probably 17 5. Bronwyn isn't a toddler, she's 13. 6. Hugh and Fiona are dating. They are described as 'late teens' 7. Miss Peregrine is old. like 80. She has a cane and a limp. 8. Dr. Golan was a male. 9. Hollows didn't just take their eyes. Hollows would take their peculiar souls. 10. Enoch wasn't skme mysterious hot broody teen with issues. He was a 12 year old chubby cockney pissbaby who was in love with Horace, and his little figures were made of clay with mouse hearts. 11. The Wights didn't have glowing blue eyes, they had eyes completely void of color, almost like they were blind 12. the ship scene was complete bullshit. Emma did take Jacob down to, but there was an air pocket, she didn't blow the air out. 13. Olive was air, and she couldn't do shit like that. She can fly. that's it. 14. Olive was also like 7. 15. Horace was a fucking relevant character. he had dreams of the future, he didn't have some weird eye projector. 16. they didn't ride off on a ship, they had little sail boats that they had to manually paddle. 17. they didn't go to Miss Avocet's loop. they went to the main land and stayed in the woods. 18. btw, Miss Avocet's loop wasn't in plain sight. 19. OLIVE IS AIR 20. EMMA IS FIRE. 21. SEPTEMBER 3RD, 1940. THERE WAS NO REASON TO CHANGE IT TO 1943.

Aurora Heuer Also the end fight scene. In this, they practically made Enoch the hero buy having him bring the skeletons to life to kill the hollows. In the book, it was Jacob that saved them from the hollow after their loop was destroyed. And Miss Peregrine shouldn't have had to kill a hollow everyday because they can't enter a loop in the first place.

Literally, when I watched the special features part of this on DVD, they dead ass said they switched Olive and Emma's powers because, "Well Emma is the love interest, so we thought it'd make more sense if she was floaty and airy" and blah blah blah. Basically like, "Oh sh*t, love interest must be more ladylike and cutesy, not hot headed fire girl". They completely missed the point of her character.

Olive is younger and innocent. Her spirit is free like a balloon but she has a foundation, her family. These powers were not random, riggs made their powers align with their personalities. Not really. People always confuse peculiarity with superpower when it is not. Peculiarity is can be just about anything that we consider unnatural and abnormal. Be it jaws at the back of the head or the ability to dust away your body to heal people (literally dusting away, like chalk. You lose your body parts. Arms, legs... torso, ears, nose... you are killing yourself slowly and terribly) or you are a dog as smart as a man who does not like dog food but sadly cannot light your own pipe on your own. OR, you see the invisible monsters but it becomes useless once you win the war and there are no longer monsters you could see. The series is very dark. From the first to the last book, it gets darker and darker.

I didn't really like the film because of the reason it is so heavily adapted from the novel. My great uncle gave me the complete set for Christmas and they are really good (I recommend them). The fact that Emma and Olive are the wrong way round, they go to a different loop that is not mentioned in the book at all, the powers are so wrong for Olive (Emma if you're going by the movie). It just didn't feel like the same thing.

Miss Peregrine looks NOTHING like that, she's old 5. Air powers don't exist in the whole series 6. Baron doesn't even exist in the book 7. Yakob doesn't just see hollows, he can control them, speak to them, and see through them 8. His grandfather stays dead 9. There are no basilisk twins in the book, just a picture 10. Miss Peregrine gets captured by other wights, not "non-existant" Baron 11. If anything, the movie should have had more cussing and action, because the book had cussing and action :P 12. The experiment did not just result in them becoming hollows, it resulted in them becoming hollows, and an explosion that destroyed half of Siberia, and the death of the ymbryne. 13. There is one male ymbryne, Miss Peregrine's brother, who is supposed to be the main antagonist. 14. They're supposed to live happily ever after with Yakob living with his parents and the peculiars because their ages reset due to the loop implosion. There's DEFINETELY more, it is NOTHING like the frickin book

In the books there is a thing called loop hopping. If you get far enough from where the loop is set you continue to live in that time, but you can't change events significantly. He just had to live from that time for a year and be in Blackpool when the boat leaves in 1943.
@KT-rp9tx
@KT-rp9tx 2 жыл бұрын
It's called leapfrogging. Within a loop, say, fifty years ago, you have access to all the loops that exist in that time period including those that ceased to exist in the last fifty years. From there you can exit the loop membrane and explore the world in the time period of said loop, the time going forward with each day. From there, you can travel from loop to loop, time to time, as long as you know where the loops are. I guess the Panloopticons would've made it easier had Jacob known it existed.

The books and movie had nearly nothing in common. They’re so different that they almost seem like different stories, and the books were so much better. I hope that someone tries to make a movie about this again, because the books were amazing and deserve to be portrayed much better than this. When I read the books I was imagining what the movie would look like and this fell far from my expectations. It just wouldn’t be right if someone didn’t make a better version of this movie that is actually goo, it’s what the books deserve.

They had to pick that day for the loop, as they weren't intending to create one until the bomb dropped, so they had to turn back time to save themselves. They recreated the loop every day, unable to exit because someone might notice them when they were supposed to be dead, then unable to exit because their age would catch up with them, and kill them.

Okay not even gonna lie, I'm super upset that they gave the movie this ending instead of actually made it into three movies, each based off of the books, because seriously that would have been so much better, plus, like anyone, I'm SO MAD they switched the roles of Emma and Olive, they honestly just seemed to have switched names and roles, while also giving "Emma" an extra ability that she never had in the original books. I bought this movie and watched it hoping it would follow the books closer than this and have better effects but it seriously disappointed me.

Oh thank goodness I'm not the only one actually bothered by that. Heck, I wasn't even sure I knew the correct ages of some of the kids anymore. Although from watching the movie, I feel like they thought Olive should be older so they can pair her up with Enoch and it won't be weird because of age differences. As for her abilities being switched with Emma's, it was never exactly explained. They just decided to make Emma float so it could be all pretty and magical to be more aesthetically pleasing or something like that, and when they realized that it wouldn't be right to have two floating girls they just decided to make Olive the one with fire hands.

Love the "Everything Wrong with..." videos, but I know precision (especially with science) is a virtue on them and I thought it should be pointed out, Ymbrynes could all be female and still reproduce. If the "peculiar gene" is recessive and apparently Mendelian, we have to assume that gene interactions are creating the diversity in powers we see. So the Ymbrynes phenotype is polygenic. It could a dosing issue. In that, the allele is on the X-chromosome, and there must be 2 recessive Ymbrynes markers to have the phenotype. This would make male children of Ymbrynes carriers 100% of the time. If a woman was heterozygous for the trait, she too would be a carrier and then two unaffected parents could have a Ymbrynes child.

In the book many peculiars sided with Caul. They were sick of having to hide from normals and he promised a world where they’d reign supreme. They tried to wind back time to make themselves immortal. It went disastrously wrong, blowing up like half of South America and reverting them back to before their souls existed, turning them into Hollowgast. Hollowgasts are three-tongued monsters invisible to everyone unless they’re eating. That’s why Jacob being able to see them is special (though he can also sense and eventually control them.) Being a Hollowgast is pure agony and never-ending hunger, and the only way to get out of it is to consume enough peculiar souls. Then they turn into wights, who all nearly identical to normals except they have pure white eyes and can speak to Hollows. Go read the books they’re better.
