If you complain that it took 83 minutes to get to the Hunger Games, it took about 300 pages to get to the actual games. The book was approximately 440 pages long.

for number 19, the reason haymitch actually starts caring is because katniss and peeta were the first of his tributes to win. imagine for 25 years becomings friends and mentoring kids then watching them get slaughtered in the arena. thats why he became an alcoholic and didnt care to mentor them in the beginning. since katniss and peeta survived he finally has something to live for
@sommiemusso9138
@sommiemusso9138 Жыл бұрын
Not to mention that he had to mentor them BOTH knowing that only one of them would be able to make it out. It's part of the reason that Haymitch mostly supported Katniss in the games. They hinted that if someone was going to survive out of the two of them with the original rules in place, it was going to be Katniss.

The books explain the Quarter Quells in more detail. The "wrinkle" in each one has a symbolic meaning. 25th: Tributes were selected by their own districts. This was a reminder that the punishment that the Districts are facing was brought on by their own actions during the rebellion. 50th: Double the number of tributes were reaped. This was a reminder that for every 1 Capitol citizen that died during the rebellion, twice as many District citizens perished. 75th: Tributes were reaped from the existing pool of victors. This is to remind everyone that even the strongest in the Districts cannot defeat the Capitol.

And sin 49 of course other victors had the moral quandary that Katniss and Peeta had- that's why two of them are drug addicts, Haymitch is a drunk, Finnick's girlfriend is mentally unstable, etc. As for it not being plausible there is a male and female victor from every district- totally with you on that. Including Katniss and Peeta, there have only been 75 victors in total, some of them must be dead from old age and it's repeatedly stated that districts 1 and 2 usually dominated the games.

If you didn't notice Haymitch was a drunk, or that two of the former victors were introduced as "morphlings" and clearly looked like they were on drugs, then you're just really unobservant. Also Haymitch was pretty lethal he was trained in hand to hand combat and was pretty good with a knife he killed at least 5/6 people in the games including 3 careers and a 12 year old boy as well I think. Nasty stuff there! He also was allies with the girl from his district (district 12) her name was Maca Lee, she used poisonous darts as her weapon.

10:28 When Wiress is singing it's actually a reference to the books and Katniss comparing her to the canaries (a songbird similar to mockingjays). In District 12, the miners would bring them to the mines and if the canaries would sing. If they stopped singing then that meant they were dead which gave the miners enough time to evacuate. They knew they were in danger because Wiress stopped singing but they weren't ignoring her.

The book does explain a bunch of this. The quarter quell in the two previous years drew four tributes from each district. Victors usually have more visits to the capital. The evaluations are less for the gamemakers and more for the other tributes, to see who to target. The old lady was a hunter, and can find food.

Yannis Karageorgiou He might not necessarily be the best mentor because the skill set for mentoring may be different to that for being a tribute. Also, you cannot definitively say he has the hardest games; although the 2nd Quarter Quell had double the number of tributes, they may not have been of the same ability or strength as another year. Arguably the most difficult year would be the 1st Quarter Quell, as all of the tributes can be considered almost as careers( the districts would elect their best to represent them due to the rewards for the district if their tribute won).

Just a quick note, You should remove 1 sin for questioning why the "individual assessments" are done. It was established in the first movie that those performance assessments are done to give each of the contestants' rankings based on their performance during the assessment, and those rankings are then used to give the odds of winning for each person. I would assume this is for gambling purposes. It's also listed in the TV show broadcast throughout all of Panem prior to the games.

6:55 There’s been like 74 hunger games so there’s bound to be enough people from the districts. The only struggling district was 12 because even in the book Katniss realised that the rest learn their skills young,which help in the games, but in district 12 you wait till you’re 18 to start mining and learning so skills and that’s too late. And district 12 only has 3 victors. So they did take that into consideration.

There was another District Twelve winner, but she died prior to the events of the books so we never met her. We can pretty reasonably assume it was the female tribute from District Twleve, and that she won the 10th Hunger Games. Her mentor (this was in the age before all districts had winners, so mentors were academy students from the Capitol) was one 18 year old, not yet President, Coriolanus Snow. Her unexpected victory, it is now assumed, propelled Snow's career, ultimately resulting in his becoming President later down the line. Ironic, since another female tribute from the same district would end said career. It is unknown how she died, though it's possible it was of natural causes (she'd have been a tad younger than Snow, who was in his early 80s, but would also have undoubtedly been less well off so a shorter life span is reasonable). We can't know for sure though, and foul play could've also been involved. We'll have to wait for the full release of the new prequel novel to (potentially) find out what happened to her.

"The games don't start until late into the movie". Yup, that's normal. Same for the first Hunger Games. It would be misguided to think that the story is about action and survival. They're really about politics/strategy or whatever you wanna call it. It's about manipulating people, making alliances, getting others to like you, etc. That's why the major part of the books and movies is them talking, or attending parties and such.

Um... I don't see your point. You can make that argument for every single piece of television or cinema ever. It's *all* already been done. People are still gonna keep writing stories, and if some of those stories resonate with the writers then yay. If they don't with you, then it's okay, you still have a bazillion other books to read. Plus, my point wasn't that THG is special or anything. I was only explaining why the games themselves aren't the main focus of the story. Just trying to explain the goal of the author.

Sebastian Vera After you win the Hunger Games you become a mentor for future tributes, like Haymitch is to Katniss and Peeta. So I guess what the movie is implying is that the mentors got to know each other during that period of time every year before the Hunger Games where all the tributes and mentors are training in that hotel I guess.

A lot of the sins that he says 'Don't make sense' are explained pretty well in the first movie. Why add more time to a 2 1/2 hour movie by explaining basic stuff so the people who didn't bother watching the first movie can understand what's going on?

Kambri Keith Actually... They're not really explained in the first movie. I was fairly confused in the first one considering I did read the books. And stuff in Catching Fire is a little out of order in the movie compared to the book. The books explain stuff alot better. It's like they decided that explanations that were important should be left out entirely in the movies.

That whole "three finger thing" is not flipping someone off. It is a sign of mourning. The monkeys are not going toward the water because of the force field, just like the fog. Also, they are in a post-apocalyptic America, hundreds of years later. I'm sure that the kind of technology used to filter what can and can't go through a force field will have been made by then.

This is supposed to be a funny video, and the whole channel isn't meant to be taken seriously. Hardcore fans need to stop complaining and realize he /doesn't/ need to read the books first. This is about the movie. This is about the mistakes in the movies. CINEMASins. Not BookSins or whatever. Besides, can any of you take a joke?
@TrIsHAwNa123TV
@TrIsHAwNa123TV 10 жыл бұрын
I get what you are saying entirely. This was meant to be a joke and i completely agree. He definitely does not have to read any of the books first, but if he was going to make a video like this he could have at least done a little research. Half the sins that he said were either explained in the book or in the previous movie. For example the one were he asked why the stylist had to go with the tributes. It was explained in the book that the stylist is the one who tells them what they will be up against in regards to the climate and surroundings that the tributes will encounter during the games. Also he put a sin in there about peta not going in with a stylist when it is clearly mentioned in that same movie that peta goes in with his own girl stylist.
@annalysakowski383
@annalysakowski383 10 жыл бұрын
LifeAsWeKnowIt The movie could have explained all of that stuff for people who haven't read the book yet (which people do sometimes). That's what he's critiquing. The books /do not/ need to be involved with this. If the movie can't explain what the book does, then that's a sin in itself.
