It's amazing how much stuff they're giving away, I had to come back to see for myself. The amount of systems, types of content etc. in this game is so overwhelming though, and unlike other MMOs it feels like there's only a few libraries of info out there. Thanks for being one of them!

Had to put LOTRO on the back burner after the last free quest promo, then I saw this giveaway and had to log back on. I was so overwhelmed between 11 years of gift boxes, plus all these expansion boxes. Will definitely give this video a good going over when I log in tonight with my fresh character. Thanks for putting in the work Louey!

Very needed video for new players. It's unfortunately very overwhelming for people who just started. I've been telling them to just make another character to store stuff in. Or make a new account just for inventory. Since that is possible, I don't understand why inventory is limited in the first place. It's like an old outdated relic of the old system that needs to to get axed.

inventory management is super confusing and one of my bars from playing often. No idea what to keep, what to sell, when to use boosts & items for best effect. The auction house, grouping for dungeons, and finding where to go for the quest on the stupid maps are my other bars.

The Anniversary event was extended one day, to May 12th at 3am EDT, due to the extended down time from April 20th-April 21st.

I started playing on day one of FTP and played VIP for a few months. Got a little bored around MoM but heard about this too late to get all the new content. Ah well, I'll play for a while to see if it's worth buying the latest Xpac to bring it up to date but I hate I missed all the freebies.

the gifts are awesome. BTW, is the ultimate Fan bundle upgrade price of Minas Morgul still bugged? It seems to charge VIPs full price, even though VIPs get the Collector's edition. I really want that Minas Morgul XP earring and I already have the Gundabad one plus the Shield of the Hammerhand from buying Helms Deep early a century ago.

Thanks for the guide Louey, Been playing on and off over the last 15 years but was like information overload with what to do with all the freebies. I must have spent an hour on each character sorting through all the stuff and sorting things out to free up bag space via my shared storage even though I have 120 slots in my bags. 😊😊

Hi Louey, thanks for the video. Wondering, how do you get the mouse over pop up to open up in their own window? I can't find a key sequence for that function. Is it a plug-in?

When there is a tooltip is on screen, you can press the H key to anchor it! (No plug in)

I got the horse, the 3 special expansion packs, and a corgi pet. Nothing else has appeared. Am I doing something wrong?

I made a new character and got it out of the beginner zone but got none of the packs besides the collector bonus items. Am I not getting all those other stuff because the account isn't newly made? Would be a bummer because I really want to be able to ride mounts..

Hey guys, is there a way to change the scales when using the 64 client , without opening the game ? Because for me it is out of the scales that my monitor can handle, and I can't change it in game

You seem like a knowledgeable guy on everything LOTRO. So, I've played LOTRO on and off since 2012 but only have up to the 7th gift and not the 8th, 9th or 10th gift. Do you have to log in every year during the anniversary to be eligible? If I email support about it will they help with that or is that something they don't do? I'm asking here because I don't wanna email support only to wait X amount of months for a response that simply says, "no." 😂

Welcome to the club :( They changed the system after a certain time, I think around of the game's 10th year of age or so, which resulted in players having to log in either throughout the anniversary OR that given year of one's account age (if that made any sense?) I say OR because I have yet to confirm which one it is. Either way, I have a 15th year old acc but ended up only with the 9th year portrait/gift too.. kinda sucks tbh..

Thanks for the great overview. I have a question regarding Valar packages. If I start a new character and then apply the Valar package to go up to 105 or 120 will I be able to go back and do the epic quest story line quests ? Or will they autocomplete and not be accessible to do anymore ? I ask this because my son wants to boost to 120 but he still wants to finish the epic story line and be able to do higher level quests with me as Im at 140. And I would like to start a new character to boost to 120 as well be able to do the epic quest line again this time with him as well using my new 120 char alt.

For sure not the whole epic storyline gets completed, maybe some quests in gondor/rohan for there are some packages for quests autocompletions, but as I'm saying, they are packages that you have to use when you unbox the valar pack, so if you do not want to do that you can simply avoid to use them

So my wife logged in during the narrow window of time before they did the rollback for the missing satchels - She seems to have gotten all the gift content back again, but I got 4x Carry-alls, and she only seemed to get three (missing the medium Carry-all) - What gift item/package contained the Medium Carry-all?

Champ is really good at solo, hunter is so handy for the fast travel. Hunter is so easy for getting around.

Hi Louey, Quick question, can you send Bound to Account items in-between servers? I'm currently playing mostly on Treebeard but I'm concious of the fact that a lot of these login rewards would not be useful in the legendary server. However, I would want to send some things like the crafting carry on over so I'm not sure which character to log in first with.

Particularly the Valors, I'd love to have the level 50 valor on Treebeard to help get ults up to current level content. However, I would love to have the 105 and 120 valors on a normal server, for obvious reasons.

You cannot, only to characters on the same server.

I don't understand why when I finished the intro and got into the game, I relogged and all that but I only received the Mordor expansion collector's edition in my inventory and I didn't receive the Minas Morgul and the War of Three Peaks expansions which everyone says are given for free until May 11th, it shows on the deed log that I completed that "confirmation" but they are simply not there, I also made a completely new account to try it that way and I only received Mordor on that one as well. I checked on the account website and it only shows that I unlocked Mordor.

It starts off pretty decent, but if I remember correctly it stops scaling well (or even completely?) some point and will eventually need to be replaced

And what if I get the anniversary gifts on a fresh f2p account and after leveling a character to level 2 I decide to upgrade to VIP? Do I also receive the extra anniversary items reserved for the VIP’s?

What do I do if some of my presents dissapeard? I had the lvl 120 valar boost, Im even VIP, but after a lost connection I re-logged in and the Valar boost was gone. That was the thing I was most interested on, what should I do now? I didn't even recieved the lvl 105, and a non vip friend did. Now I only have a lvl 50 valar boost. Was something wrong with my presents or is it random?

I have 10 free character slots, my highest character is lvl 69 lol I think you get them quite regularly through various events. I always only played during christmas/new years time. Definetly excited to play more. I was mainly waiting to buy the other expansions anyway and already loaded 11k points on my account for when they are on sale, but I dont need that anymore obviously. what's best to buy with that?

I'll logged into my minstrel after 6 months, I'm f2p, I was cleaning my inv to get the rewards and I used something that moved me to mordor I believe, it is now level 102 and I literally don't know what the hell I used by accident ._.

Maybe i understand something wrong..you said minas,mordor and three peaks and 15th Pack came once per Account. But i got em on All my chars. 8 chars right now and all get them once.

you can still go through any area's and story lines as if you were lvl 40. That way you dont have to miss out. whole-heartily recommended.

Regarding the UI being harder to see on higher resolutions, you can change the scaling of the UI elements globally within the interface settings. I usually run 1440p with a 50% size increase on UI elements.

This is not true. Some elements still don't scale. And even if you do scale the scalable elements, they become blurry due to scaling.

What this video shows in my opinion is that it's just too much for new players. Sure, it's nice to get so many things. But for people who started playing because of this event, it is only intimidating. What they should at least have done, as a compromise, is to group those gifts by level. So one that can be opened instantly with the cosmetics, one that can be opened at level 10, with only stuff someone at that level can actually use, and then others for higher levels. The way it has been done now completely clutters people's inventories without them having any idea what all this even is. Which, again, doesn't mean it's not a very appreciable event.

I bet the people who bought those $130 versions of the expansions are p***ed right now. But no more than all the people who bought all the other content that is now free I suppose. But that's an insane price to charge for an expansion with some digital bonuses to begin with.

of course not. Thats all in the past and from years ago. veterans are glad for the new influx of players, and how they will have it much easier to get into the game and get a thorough taste, instead of having to throw money at the game already after lvl 20.

Really stupid to make any of these things one time per account and thus specific to the first character who uses it. Why would this game expect any NEW player to understand the implications of this? Most people will start a new character and thus no longer have this stuff.

It's long overdue for a graphical overhaul, that's for sure! Most of the early level areas (the older areas) are the worst, and most of the newer areas (newly added game content) are much improved. But as a whole, graphics in this game are quite lacking. I just picked up Horizon Zero Dawn for PC, which is now a 5yr old game, and those graphics are light years ahead of LOTRO. Hopefully we see some improvements soon.
