In the book of James it says to submit or humble ourselves before God to resist the devil and he will flee. So we resist the devil by turning to end submitting to God. This scripture makes much sense to me now after your message thank you so much!

Such a vital teaching, thank you. As an Anglican priest I’ve heard so many people insist that they will never give up trying to fix themselves by constantly obsessing over their negative thoughts which only ties them up in greater knots and develops anger towards themselves. Far better to turn to Christ and refuse to allow any attention for the thoughts that accuse us. God’s love is powerful to hold our attention away from all the thoughts that harm us.

Hello,I was asked by a gay man I was discussing Christ with online and he asked me why did God wait so long to send Christ and why does it take so long? I personally didn't bother w that when I was an atheist I was looking way deeper but I haven't read the Bible cover to cover yet intact I will buy a Bi le just now after 7 years of being a Christian but I think recently I have learned so much and I pray hundreds times a day for me and for random people I encounter and now I'm starting to understand what trully is to be a Christian and I pray to Heavenly Father to fill my body w The Holy Spirit and guide me.Glory to our Heavenly Father.

Yes, Father, you have absolutely gotten through to me. Yes, one should not throw in the towel and give up. The devil revels in our silly selves thinking we can do it on our own. I am 68 years old and am still “running away”, as you put it, from the devil who knows how, like a ventriloquist, to taunt us with our own negative thoughts. I have tried your advice about reading and even reciting from memory of a psalm. I have found that very effective in countering the wiles of the evil one. I even saw him take form in the middle of the day once to awe and frighten me in a bizarre woman holding a staff with a pruning blade at the end of it and a black dog on a leash. Was it just a crazy homeless woman on the street? I don’t know. But, I had been reciting the Jesus prayer at around that time.

Thanks for the timely advice! This is a slippery truth that is difficult to know if we are following. My spiritual father was giving me similar guidance for not fighting evil thoughts streight on, and I thought I was following his advice today when Disturbing thoughts came to me during church. I thought that asking Christ to help me with my thoughts was a good prayer because it was technically turning away my thoughts and depending and lookng on Christ. But i realize now that even that was putting power to the thoughts. Then i tried the Jesus prayer which I don't think helped either. Fortunately the church services helped me to continue to fight it off and eventually it left...Untill next time anyway.

I am ? See question ,explore and then realization dawns. Question ,are there any or is there any such thing as a good habit ,no ! It is as we are in our own deluded world, one might say we approach the Absolute but before the dissolution of self we grasp at these things out of anxiety ,good versus bad ,all thoughts are only more or less usefull in the conventional realm,Christ said it spontaneous, open ,responsive we might feel we are somebody,by our religious or spiritual faculties and decieve ourselves but it is all illusory ,being requires seeing into this our childhood conditioning reinforcing ,habits of mind and behaviour . They maybe served us for a while ,thumb sucking ..But if the memory seems bad the energy at root is fundamentally important so by repression this force then becomes perverted . Yes so that eventually one must arrive at the conclusion it is the mind which does this not the body ,this is what is cut off,only if we take a feather to it ,allow let go ,see explore question once it is seen as useless it will be dropped it is renounced but when we see it partially we are mesmerised. A world full of devils and gods is Hell.
