And it happened...Again. Sorry to all effected, this is a small rug pull compared to some of the others we have seen over the last couple years and has some really odd circumstances. The community surrounding the "game" and the NFTs purchased are planning to make their own project off the back of this, so hopefully it works out for them in the end.

When people invest in such very obvious scams you question both their intelligence and ability to manage money in general. They shouldn't be allowed to invest in anything, they're just going to lose money. To invest in something at all you need to have knowledge on the subject and people that are even a tiny bit knowledgeable would have seen this coming.

Most manipulation isn't forced or 'artificial' but it's still present. Could even argue that nobody is free from artificial manipulation since withholding information is a form of manipulation. I guess it's a pretty conspiracy theory rabbit hole to explore, but unless you believe that the government and corporations are 100% open and honest to all of us, information is being withheld so that we have certain opinions. Too many people have dug themselves into a consumer credit hole, or bought real estate for prices they cannot possibly hope to pay off within their lifetime (my Canada showing here), and it's no longer about improving your life, but about hitting the moonshot to solve your financial sinkhole in one shot, ie, the lottery win, because they simply can't do it with hard work or traditional investment returns.

Being able to read and understand what I'm going to call "legalese" is not only important in signing up for these blockchain endeavors, but also for life in general. The amount of times I've caught organizations or people trying to pull one over on me is too darn high. When they see "read the fine print" what they really mean is read EVERYTHING.

its all gambling with worst odds than a casino against you. crypto and all this other stuff will only fall off if more countries just flat out ban it, and thats a real possibility with the issues like these popping up all the time. those wanting to see it thrive will have to deal with the ones that just want to make money and run. It may get to the point where it will sink way too many resources into catching these guys and instead its just easier to just ban it downright then the people really investing will be totally screwed

I agree that we should have sympathy for people who fall for crypto scams because, as you said, they're just trying to make a better life for themselves. The responsible reaction is to actively discourage them as well as all people in general from extremely high risk investments like this which are almost entirely scams. Simply informing them of the risks isn't good enough.

I kind of hope building something 'real' out of this doesn't work out. Not because I have ill will towards the 'investors' or think they deserve to be taken or whatever, but just because I think things like this need to be cautionary tales for people to just stay the hell away from this early adopter/preorder/pay now own later bandwagon, or at least go in with your eyes wide open. Let's say the game eventually does exist, and is good. That's great for the people who would have had nothing to show for their money otherwise, but less so for all the new players that draws in who will then be primed to be on the lookout for other projects like this to get in with 'on the ground floor'... This just opens the door to more scams like this in the future.
@scartissuefilms
@scartissuefilms 2 жыл бұрын
People have different risk tolerances. High risk stuff is fine as long as it's money you can afford to lose, and it's only a small portion of your portfolio. Investing in stuff that doesn't yet exist is a reasonable strategy, as long as you know what you're doing. You accept that 90% of stuff will fail, knowing that the 10% will do extremely well. I'm surprised at just how conservative and risk intolerant the gaming community seems to be. Or maybe that makes psychological sense...that a lot of gamers try to maintain very safe lives.

incredible how much money is being trashed nowadays. and they will still doing it for such things. they could easily donate less to a charity and be doing something more useful or at least, you can see your money being useful... even giving bits or subs to your favorite streamer or youtuber would be a great thing to do, yes trying to get your waifu in gacha games. whatever feels more rewarding.oh... yes, they specding crypto currency, not real money. then basically they are only losing theorical money.

Don't really get how block chains can protect, say, an artist's copyright. Let's say I drew an image, then posted it on a regular website. Someone else instantly saves my drawing and uploads to a block chain. I later on find out that they did this, so I upload to a block chain but..uh...according to the block chain, the art thief has copyright of my drawing?

Copyright law does not in any way work like that. The tricky part is dealing with the infringement when so much of this stuff is anonymous, but nobody can claim to own your drawing merely because they purchased a token of it, even in good faith.
