My mom asked my ballet teacher today about the schedule, I quit 3 years ago as well. I asked her to ask because I was thinking of going back and learning other genres of dance. My teacher straight up offered me a spot in one of the classes and said I could join on this coming Tuesday! I’m so nervous, scared, and excited. I had been doing ballet for about a decade, then I quit for various reason. I’m in Highschool now and over the past 3 years I’ve had time to reflect and I finally decided to better myself and go for what I want for real this time. I’ve thought about why I did ballet in the first place and why I want to go back, I realized I really did love it, the feeling of being backstage, dance itself and I would like to learn more. I was blinded by what made me feel so horrible back then that I really didn’t know why I was doing it anymore (this was also during COVID times). It’s important to remember your “why” and to stick to it, or else you can be easily knocked out. I think maybe that all the self reflection helped and might make me come back stronger, so wish me luck :) I came here to look for some motivation and to hype myself up lol.

Ive been watching luna for a few months now, and a month ago i got my first pair of pointes!!! You both are so incredible even though luna is dancing on DEAD shoes, and yours are 3 years old!!!!!

when she said that pointe shoes were made of wood I just died inside...hearing it from a non dancer is one thing but hearing it from an actual dancer just killed me.... Pointe shoes are made of paste, canvas, leather, and often cardboard (unless you wear Gaynor Mindens). Its basically paper mâché but canvas. There is no wood. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

I stopped dance all together due to my anxiety and depression at age ten. I’m 25 now and I really want to go back into ballet but, to say that I’m rusty is an understatement. I don’t remember any of the forms or…. Anything if I’m truly being honest. I don’t think I went as far as you did when it came to practice. However despite all the barriers and hard work that I would have to do, I just honestly want to point my toes again and feel free like I did before my mental health got so bad. This video is really inspiring, I hope you continue your journey with ballet. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I know that this was hard for you to go back and dance again but it truly looked fun and I’m so proud of you for not giving up. Practice makes perfect, judgement makes you let go. Don’t let your judgement stand out when you’re practicing. You will get father then ever before with that mindset. I wish you luck on your journey!
