I have been living in US for 18.5 years with a large Indian community and friends to support. I still feel extremely lonely as I don’t feel I can call or bother anyone during weekdays. There is this hesitation. Loneliness is real and an epidemic.

haha, but it's beyond annoying to have relatives drop in unannounced during working weekdays and then expect to be entertained - somehow that's okay in India. If you say 'no', they make sure to outcast you and pass snide remarks or insults in any gathering (weddings, etc)

By far this is the most interesting interview on your channel, giving a different angle (and a correct one in my opinion) to moving to India picture. Loneliness and family is the only reason, for someone to move back no matter what they say.

The elegant lady is right when she says there is a lack of human socialization in the US/Canada. But I feel it's becoming the same in India also gradually. Everyone is glued to their own personal devices & the interaction only happens in the virtual world thru a 2 by 4 inch screen. The human interaction is getting lesser everywhere everyday.

I've noticed that most of the people who are interviewed on here are not permanent residents or US citizens. unless I'm wrong. My experience is that I have been in America since I was 2 years old. I'm in my fifties. From my last two trips to India I have noticed a lot of the crowds in streets are in their twenties to mid-30s. The thing she said that struck a chord with me comma is that it's not about it not working out for me it's about me working out for the opportunity in India. It's true after living in a country for this long getting used to its ways. Something about India intrigues me and has made me consider coming back to live long term, but when I look around for women my age who live kind of the lifestyle that I live here in America, I don't really see it there. Here, women have a certain Freedom that they don't have in India. you can wear shorts and a tank top and go to the grocery store-- Or just go for a walk in your neighborhood-- without being stared at, or having people talk about you in a bad way. you can go to the gym ,like she said without being bothered. Or go on a date. I think the biggest thing I would miss is being able to drive wherever I want whenever I want, without it taking 30 minutes to go 10 miles.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We have quite a guests who are US citizens on the show. Sounds like you considered about India but based your experiences India might not be a right fit for you and its good to make a decision. Depending on one’s circumstances and preference, they can choose where they want to live.

Absolutely true. I love my anonymity in the USA. It may seem trivial but the freedom of just throwing on t shirts and shorts and grabbing a cup of coffee is exhilarating. No one cares. Exactly. This is the best part of living abroad

I have met her in one of her in person session. If you review her Linkedin posts she writes like an American who immigrated to India and have started to learn about Indian living. Any person who has never left India can easily see through her posts on how naive she is about being an Indian. She is mesmerised by the nuanced unorganised chaos of Indian living. She speaks about her pre-US days but you would know she isnt the one she is portraying to be just for the sake of garnering relatability. Also she has a failed marriage. I dont want to get into her personal life but its important to take that into account while making big emotional moves based on her advice.

Good video Fortunately loneliness is not everywhere in usa . There is good social life if you are at right place with right person .. major reason you got bored or lonely because you were single and as your age increases and you are single , the group changes .. this happens specially if you are at 30 or above ….married people won’t be much friendly to you .. and bachelors are too young for you … many of my friends are in same boat… I am married with one kid and we have more than Indian chaos at my home always people friends ..we are in Arizona as well This video portrays usa as lonely place but it’s not …. It’s just her experience …also my experience is usa has very good respect for Indians as per my 13 years of experience in india …

Many problems Nupur faced in the US are because Nupur is single at a 35+ age. This is rare for Indians especially in the US. Your social circle shrinks, and loneliness hits you. Dating would be one solution to keep such people away from loneliness. Similarly, in India, women at that age that are single have a tough time. It is just not the norm in the society. The trainer not leaving you alone in the gym would probably not happen if you had any sign, even if fake, that you are married. I'm not saying, "why are you single, get married already". I'm just saying Nupur that many of the perspectives you shared don't resonate well with most Indians who are married and have kids. I'm sure you know this, but it'd be good to include this in your narration of your perspectives.
