From what I remember was he was playing pretty bad game after game conceding goals (the drop probably due to his heart condition), so Mourinho wanted to faze him out with another goalie. It didn't help that Madrid fans were very toxic at the time because they were starved for a champions league win and demanding it hard.

Casillas didn´t concede a goal against Leverkusen, it was César. In the final against Leverkusen, Casillas didn´t play the whole match, it was the then main keeper César the one defending the post, but he got injured in minute 68 and was substituted by Casillas, which went on to save some crazy situations at the end of the match.

Agreed! But it wasn't so tough for César to defend because Madrid dominated the first half. After getting injured Leverkusen dominated the second half, so basically Casillas had a better performance in that match.🤷

At Euro 2008 against Italy, Dani Güiza missed his penalty at the penalty shootout, he was devastated and Casillas told him "Don't worry, I promise you that I'll stop the next one" and he did. His performance was outstanding under pressure.

@@filmcritic833 Kaká was treated like shit!? How!? He was injured and lost half of the games because of it. He was the best when he played but he suffered from many different injuries. Cassias also is and was always respected in Madrid. He didn’t get to say goodbye to fans on the pitch but they didn’t start a fight with him and sue him etc. He is Madrid’s ambassador now.

I still can't believe he joined my homecity club! A legend of the game like Casillas ending it's career in my favorite club was one of the best things that I have ever witnessed. I had the opportunity to see him play live, something that, before his arrival to FC Porto, was completely impossible. And he was the best goalkeeper that played for FCP, with all my respect for Vítor Baía and the other legends of the club, but he was something else. If Casillas is somehow reading this, I just want to say thank you Sir! Thank you for all you gave us and you will always have a place in the heart of this "portista"!

Hey Raymar, Casillas didn’t concede any goal at UCL final 2002 vs Bayer Leverkusen 4:57 . He came on as a sub late in the game and made many saves at the dying minutes of the game. Good video btw 👍

Well Casillas' s achievement is different from any other goalkeeper because he was not blessed with good height as required for a Gk but despite the odds he was one of the most energetic goalkeeper who would fearlessly dive to any distance to save the goal. 🤔

He was always the most common example of an amazing goalkeeper. He is a legend and top 3 goalkeepers of the history if not the best. He got a little bit clumsy in the end of his career (post 2013) but his glory days are still unmatched. From a Liverpool fan and from a fan that wanted The Netherlands to win worlds 2010.

Iker Casillas Prime as 2000 to 2012. Especially in the 2000s, his reflexes were legendary. Point blank saves and cat like agility. If you mention Galacticos, he's apart of the group of them. Ronaldo, Zidane, Figo, Raul, Beckham, Casillas, Owen, Robinho.

When I was 11, he made the biggest clutch save in the World Cup Final in 2010. And that moment, so vivid in my lifetime, that moment made me realize I wanted to be a goalkeeper. And the rest was history.

I started watching football during the 2010 World Cup and I remember thinking nobody has ever scored against him.. He broke my heart because I wanted Holland to win, but he is by far the best goalkeeper I’ve ever seen. He wasn’t at the top as long as some of his peers, but his peak is unmatched in my opinion.

And the qualities were questionable. Only in the times of Ramos/Pepe/Varane can you say that RM had world class CB.

Before naming someone "Greatest ever", consider the past more.. Lev Ivanovich Yashin, don't know if you heard about him, was considered even by the best footballers as the best. The only goalkeeper who won a ballon. No doubt Casillas is excellent, and easily comes in my list of top 5 goalkeepers ever but no, he wasn't the best ever, it was Lev, always.

As a Barcelona Fan i have the same respect to casillas as i have to puyol. He was so good in his prime and so underrated in the end of his career. Its trully sad to see how some madrid fans undervalue him now and the awfull way he got booted out of the club. El eterno capitan EL GATOOOO.

I started supporting us via the olden days. I remember as a kid, seeing Kaka in the white and gold colours, and not even knowing who he was. Nowadays, I couldn't respect him, Casillas, and Ronaldo less.

He was an amazing goalkeeper, fast, effective, a leader, one of those rare goalkeepers able to save the goal right at the beginning of a match or in the last minute. One of the best in history.

It was 2010 and I was 10yrs old ,that's when I started playing as a GK. My friends often call me iker casillas after I make a lot of minor save cuz that time he was the only goalkeeper who was so popular in world cup,then I started to discover who is he and since that very day till now I'm his damn die hard fan ,in fact I began to be a Madrid's fan bcuz of my both Idols cr and iker was there and now after knowing that Madrid no longer knows how to appreciate both legends I'm no longer supporting it .....will always put u close to our heart legend 💪🔥❤️

Hey Raymar, in 4:56, Casillas didn’t get scored on in that final, it was Cesar. Casillas got subbed into that champions league final against Leverkusen. The classiest goalkeeper of the modern era. He would be one of the few that would want to make peace during the Clasico matches during the Real Madrid Mou era. A shame how Madrid let him go.

The four greats of the 00-15 generation: 1. Neuer, 2. Casillas, 3. Buffon, 4. Victor Valdes, But I think oblak, ederson and Alisson are the top three now
