i definitely can forget to eat when I have a busy day which isnt great because my energy definitely dips and I dont realize until my stomach makes a very audible growling noise!!
@liam.porritt3 жыл бұрын
Hahaha - 100% Sam!! When you get in the zone and just keep working and working, it's so easy not to eat, but really not good productivity (or health!) wise. The times I forget to eat, I generally end up losing the time I make not eating by working inefficiently and losing focus!

Moderation is key - and I think just generally trying to make sure you are being really focused and efficient in the time you spend working, and then making sure you have time to look after yourself, eating well and exercising too :)

Very good tips. I started working from home in 1994 and interestingly my tips are the same. I always have a pint glass of water on my desk. I try to get outside (in my case into the garden - I was sawing branches earlier). Also it is much easier as you get more senior as you decide things so just hang on in there and it gets better. It is also going to be best for most junior lawyers as soon as they can to get back into the physical office so people should try to lobby for that as much as possible.
@channiedhillon2 жыл бұрын
"also it is much as easier as you get senior".... Hahaha... Bullshit.... It is much easier as you get senior as you now get to abuse those that are junior hahaha

How about we stop gloryfying absurd working hours? Somehow people think this is how it should be. I am a banker at a large corporate for 7+ years and in avg. I make 8 hours a day without compromising on any opportunities within the company.
@myopinion2day2 жыл бұрын
Yup. If it takes you 14 hours to finish 8 hour work you are either ineffective or a company is exploiting you to do the work of two people. Doesn't UK have rules about 8 hour work days and mandatory hours between two work days? I hope he grows up soon and realizes there is more to life than throwing the best years of your life away at work.

Working for someone else, undercutting other workers in the race to the bottom. Talented workers like Liam often undervalue their time and accept horrible working hours that would be illegal in most other European countries. Trainee corporate lawyers in London earn £50k max so working 14 hour days basically means less than minimum wage. It doesn’t seem fair and definitely isn’t sustainable, especially if he ends up having a family and children.

At Clifford Chance they make you work till 3am.... But when you make partner you too will continue the cycle of abuse. You will do this because already there is fears and insecurities. You feel you are not able to push back and tell the associates and partners how things are... And so you accept it. Because you have accepted it now when you make partner you will behave the same way because there is fear and insecurity now and there will be fear and insecurity when you make partner at Clifford Chance.

while bluelight glasses can reduce the amount of bluelight entering the eyes, there is no scientific evidence to prove that bluelight glasses reduce eye strain. I find that a lot of KZfaqrs use bluelight glasses and recommend them, but no one is talking about the lack of evidence that they are effective
