For me I wanted a career and at the same time babies in my 20s and I did that. however for me it has never really been about doing what I want as my inherent moral code is more about other things than making myself happy. I’m 56yo, and feel “trapped” in a job I’m good at, very well paid…. but I do not enjoy. And too old to change career path as, if it does not go well, I no longer have margin to rectify. I regret quitting my developer job when I was 30, which I enjoyed. Maybe I would not have last, but I’ll never know. Do not get to the “too late” stage.

It's been my dream to study at the famed Harvard Business School, arguably the most prestigious and most famous Business School in the whole wide world. However, I made some pretty bad decisions and did some bad things in my youth and I couldn't make it to HBS. I'm past 40 now and I'm still dreaming about going to Harvard Business School and I still read a lot about top Business Schools, particularly the M7 Schools in the USA and London Business School and INSEAD in Europe in particular, even though I know I will never go to those schools. At least I'll tell my kids to try to go to top schools in the USA and the world, in any subjects they want, since I'm from India

But, of course, not three times as many hours. And expenses in London can't be less (or much less) than expenses in L.A., for example. What do lawyers working for American firms make in London? Don't they have global pay systems? If so, why not work for an American firm Frankly, you make half of what a decent software engineer in the States makes upon graduation with an undergraduate degree, and if you look at the top CS schools, they make three times as much as you right out of school. I'm talking about graduates of Georgia Tech, not even those from CMU, Stanford, or MIT -- comparable schools to Cambridge. Is practicing law in the UK -- or at least for a UK law firm -- really worth it?
