Namaskar Iyer ji, thank you for hosting this talk with Prof. Kak. I am an archaeologist (Harappan studies) and would like to share with you that there was at least one massive earthquake which was recorded at Dholavira (Kutch) in a breach in the humongous citadel wall, which was then repaired and reinforced. This stratified difference was clearly visible during the excavation. This was possibly the time when the Sutlej and Beas, and Saraswati, shifted course due to this tectonic activity. We know from geological records and satellite imagery (of the extinct riverbed) that Saraswati had shifted twice before drying out entirely - possibly since it no longer had the tributaries, perhaps due to recurring tectonic disturbances though we don't have any evidence of later activities apart from the shifting and disappearance of Saraswati.

Iyer ji, why is there no mention of Prof. Nilesh Oak's phenomenal work in the dating of our civilization? You've already interviewed him, so you're fully aware of his work. His research clearly shows, through multiple sources, that the Ramayana war goes back to 12209 BCE, and the Mahabharata war goes back to 5561 BCE. His work is clearly the most scientifically accurate and comprehensive in this regard. Why would you mention DK Hari and other scholars, but not Nilesh ji?

Sorry, I find it hard to trust Nilesh Oak . He is a passionate Indophile, however his analysis lacks scientific foundations. I have read his astronomical dating of Mhbta and I find too many assumptions. Very hard to support this dating through archaeology.

I follow a lot of ancient history and archaeology. Historic dates for established civilization keep getting pushed back. A general thought in some research is, there was an ice age that covered much of the world and then a disaster called the Younger Dryas. It seems to me that India and Southeast Asia must have been some of the few decent places in which to live and thrive while everyone else was struggling. I have an idea India might well be one of the main cradles of Old World civilization.

Younger Dryas followed by the Holocene and the newly formed Indian Summer Monsoon were a boon for the ancient Indians. Deglaciation caused formation of new rivers in the Himalayas and we have the origins of the earliest settlements emerging all along the Indus and Saraswati valleys. Also the Vedic literature being composed/compiled on the banks of the Saraswati which apparently had a mighty roaring flow.

Dr. Nilesh Oak’s books on dating of Ramayana & esp. Mahabharata, dating the latter from evidence of nakshatras esp. Abhijit, put their dates around 10-12K years, now corroborated by excavations in in Haryana, are completely ignored in this discussion.

The oceanographic mapping in finding of Dwarika ,7 to 9 km of the coast ,and dating of the rocks under sea there, tells that to be 7000 to 9000 years old. So that is Mahabharat period. Ramayan happened still earlier by one YUG is Treta त्रेता युग। *So Vedas must be still much more older than Ramayan*

22:00 Iyer on Thiruvanmiyur temple, this temple may be 2k yrs old, doesnt mean Maharishi Valmiki lived in that Period. It could be a rebuilt temple after the original was dilapidated. Similar is how Ramjanm Bhoomi Temple underneath the Babri mosque, there are layers of structures as ASI's excavation teamer Mehmood explained. This applies not only to the two Epics but all religion books. Learn the History of this ancient land as it gets rediscovered with new evidences applying technologies of the day. @ 2:50 Dr. Kak states the claim of someone else that River Sarasvati was meeting the sea until 1900 BCE. What is the evidence for 'Sarasvati meeting the sea until 1900 BCE'? There is no evidence, and I will be happy to be wrong. On the other hand, there is evidence (I will present it, after hearing from PGurus or Dr. Kak) that river Sarasvati was not flowing up to sea in the last 10,000 years. Thanks.

Southern migration of people from the indus is a accepted in Tamil tradition. Archeological evidence of 600bce by keelzhadi excavations proves this. Sanskrit and brahmi are different.

Thank you for this wonderful conversation. I want to bring to your attention that the present queen of the Jaipur royal family has informed in more than one interview (available on youtube) that they are the direct descendants of Rama's son Kush and that they are currently the 309th generation. If that is true, and if we take one generation to be roughly 30 years, then Bhagwan Rama's time would be around 7000 BCE. The family must have kept record of all the descending kings and the historians can check it out.

Mahabharat war happened around 5500 years back. Maybe the mega astras used during the war might had caused tectonic changes and glacier melt during those times that finished saraswat river.proper archeological surveys around Mahabharat sites including the submerged dwaraka city with geo testing will bring out the truth

What we need is to analyse things with open mind. 1. Haraapan civilisation, Saraswati civilisation are now physical entities. To reach to this point certainly 1000s of years must have taken. 2. One after the other whats mentioned in Ramayana and Mahabharat is coming true. Eg Sraswati river, kudeemukh, Ramsettu, Ram janm bhoomi, Raghu vansham, Sri Lanka and Ravana. All these needs now to be linked as part of history. 3. MAHABHARAT follows Ramyug...it has detailed description of more than 1000 places that were to be visited by Pandav during exile. In 3000 years span except for physical entities like rivers, mountains etc buildings cant be expected to remain. However Dwarka, Bedi dwarka and submerged dwarka has also been found.

there has been a large city found in 120' of water off the coast of Dvarka.i really don't understand why qualified people cannot date the drowning of this city by dating the sea rise at that point. how long ago was that area when the sea was at that level? that city is on the Saraswati river bed at that time in history. that would permanently remove all doubt and it would give us all a benchmark time setting to work from. from my own research it was + - 9,000 years! is that too intimidating for everybody?

According to Jain shashtras, our first tirthankar had a daughter named Brahmi who invented the first language script from which flowed all other scripts over time. At Shrutbhavan, Katraj, Pune, our rev. monk Shri Vairagyarati maharaj saheb teaches Brahmi along with Sharda, Pandu, Sanskrit, Prakrit to marathi sanskrit pandits who are reading & correcting ancient jain manuscripts. I think Saheb ji should be shown harappan symbols to see if he can decipher them. But chances are that Brahmi predates harappan symbols.

All wrong information. The word Brahmi has come from the word Brahma , one of the trinity gods of Hindu sanatan dharma. So we can see that the word Brahmi itself is a Sanskrit word and all the other religions like Jainism, Buddhism , etc are all offshoots of the great Sanatan Vee c religion. It is interesting to note and worth mentioning here that the great founders of Jainism and Buddhism I e the Tirthankar as and Gautam Buddha were themselves belonged to Hindu dharma by birth

The geographical divisions might have been very different in the ancient historical era than what it is in the present scenario.

confusing dates for Ramayana and Mahabaatha. Let me correct you, the Mahabharatha war took place about 5140 years back when Krisna was around 78 years of age. Ramayana took place about 14200 years back. The present Kaliyuga started when the Mahabharata war was in progress. The Four yugas Krita, Thretha, Dwapara and Kali dont have specific period of time ,meaning so many number of years contribute one yuga. Better consult Velukudi Krishnan.

It seems that the researcher is in a urgency to conclude the scripts of indus valley civilization to religion and community. In the whole site there was no signs of any worshipping place or idol. This researcher is also one more confusion in between the legitimate research.

Great Leadership: How Hindustan was destroyed in a systematic way with full of wrong intentions: 1. Trade of Hindustan was destroyed by “Royal Charter of East India Company December 31, 1600” 2. Local Languages/Education System of Hindustan were destroyed by “Indian Education Act February 2, 1835” 3. Social Fabric/Geographical Boundaries of Hindustan were destroyed by “Indian Independence Act July 18, 1947” It’s not easy to REPAIR this region out of these THREE systematic and well thought destructions. It’s really required a very genuine NATIVE leadership who is willing to sacrifice their lives to heal these wounds - Loss of Trade, Languages/Education System and Social Fabric/Geographical Boundaries. Hence, India/Modi needs to focus in parallel on to increase Trade Volume (should be 20-25% of world trade), make local languages/education system powerful again and FINALLY to REBUILD social fabric/geographical boundaries - SAARC under one Union, great tasks are ahead which need great leadership indeed.

If the Saraswathy dried up/ceased flowing to the sea by 3000BC or 1900BC, it does not mean the Rukveda or Rigveda was written prior to that. They could have written from memory later. That writing happened around 800BC in the Harappan/Saraswathy & seen in records makes sense.

A lot of this is dubious reasoning and misinterpretation. Also, you said Brahmi appeared by Ashoka's time according to the Western scholars. This is completely false, as it has been known for a long time that the Brahmi and Kharosthi scripts had existed by around 500 BC. Your modus operandi is maleficienty discrediting the Western scholars, then pushing through your artificial narrative. edit: The Brahmi script does not derive from the Harappan symbols in any convincing way. The basic shapes of writing would anyway be the same across the world's scripts. By your reasoning even the Chinese characters could be precursors of Brahmi.
