Unfortunately, the only clickbait in this video is my hair.. (still growing out the bangs! 😅) Here's a link to a simple exam you can do for free at home anytime to check your vision: www.allaboutvision.com/en-gb/conditions/amsler-grid/ Stay safe and healthy! 🙏❤

The idea that you could have gone blind if you hadn't had the money for the injection is so upsetting. Goddamn, that is awful. I'm glad it worked out for you.

I know right? Thankfully I had just started working that year in a job that provided very good private health insurance. It makes me very upset to think about those who would get late or even lack of treatment because they wouldn’t have the option...

I have a family history of glaucoma, so I always have to get a test done with my pupils dilated. When you described it I LITERALLY felt it in my eyes 😭 I can’t believe it burns for you, that’s horrible! I always feel like my eyes are numb, like when I close my eyes I’m worried if they are still there because I can’t feel them. OMG I JUST GOT TO THE PART ABOUT THE NEEDLE. WHATTTTT? Glad you’re ok, but that sounded HORRIFYING!

Isn't it the worse?? The nurses always make fun of me, nowadays they almost need to fight me to be able to get drops in because my eye just keeps blinking involuntarily, they're traumatised LOL Thanks for the kind comment I'm doing better :)

Omg I had an experience almost exactly like this. I noticed I wasn’t seeing very well even though I’d had perfect vision my whole life. Went to see an eye doctor and spent four hours doing tests. Got sent that same day to a different eye doctor because the first couldn’t figure out the issue so they referred me elsewhere and I spend another 4-5 hours doing more tests to ultimately be told I needed to receive injections in my EYE. Wtf ha. I guess I was going blind in my right eye but because my left was fine, I didn’t notice it until it got really bad. My central vision was almost completely black in my right eye. And I get the distorted lines when looking at grids. I think I ended up getting nine shots in total and am very familiar with the horror movie eyelid opener thing haha. So unpleasant and so so sorry you also had to experience this. It’s nuts that I just happened to stumble across this video. I’ve never heard of anyone close to my age having to go through this. PS the contrast test was by far the worst. The expectation for us to keep our dilated eye open to such an insanely bright light is crazy.

I’ve got pretty bad vision and it’s always quite disturbing when they ask you to open your eyes without blinking for what feels like minutes... I just had a test recently and although I’m approaching the age where long sightedness will help the shortsightedness, I’m apparently not there yet, so I can barely see, despite the thick glasses. 😖

I had a bad vision and because of that I had to do Lasik surgery ) It was pretty much exactly what you've experienced, but also with little knives cutting my eyes )) PS I like dilated pupils, such an interesting experience ))) Also, did they put a lens like INTO your eye? (cuz for me that was the most horrible thing)

there is just one thing which i didnt understand did they have something to keep your eye from moving while they where injecting the solution?
@JessicaVianaa
@JessicaVianaa 2 жыл бұрын
Hi - thank you for watching! They do use a tool to keep your eyelids peeled back so you can't blink, but apart from local anaesthetic rubbed on the white of the eye I guess they just *really* trust you to not move your eye as they inject you. I believe this is similar to having Lasik, there isn't really much they can do to keep you from moving your eye aside from kindly asking you not to 🥴

😢I have the same symptoms from time to time (distortions, blackness, sometimes as if there is water that i can't remove or suddenly too much sensitivity to light) and when I go get checked (usually emergencies or the next day), they find nothing weird. Once the doctor even told me that i didnt need to go each time I see strange things. 😢omg
@JessicaVianaa

I hope it's nothing serious - however, my advice would always be to never ignore your gut feeling. You know yourself better than anyone - if something feels off, definitely go check it! Another little piece of advice is that optometrists are not medical doctors, so for serious concerns make sure you're visiting an *ophthalmologist* . If you have the chance, try and get a second opinion from a different doctor or hospital 🙏 best of luck!
@bryceicle89
@bryceicle89 2 жыл бұрын
Optometrists are not medical doctors but they have spent 5 years studying eyes and are more than qualified deal with many conditions and refer onto medical doctors where required..
@JessicaVianaa
@JessicaVianaa 2 жыл бұрын
@@bryceicle89 very true, and that’s what I meant, not to dismiss the experience of optometrists as they are important in routine eye care and diagnostics, but any serious pathology or disease/disorder will be within the expert remit of an ophthalmologist and should be referred to them anyway, as they’ll be able to investigate even less obvious signs and symptoms. Even among ophthalmologists they will refer patients to one another depending on the type of eye disease they’re treating and some specialize in specific conditions. I may be a little hypochondriac now but I’d avoid risking dismissed symptoms or misdiagnosis (traumatized!) - I love all the eye experts who took and continue to take care of my health ❤️

@@JessicaVianaa I have an update~ it is a good one I think. the other day i was working with a child and suddenly I couldnt see his face clearly anymore, like seeing a kind of light or missing a piece of my vision. I rushed to my PC opened an excel sheet and that test you have linked us😂. Close right eye, left eye, both eyes, that light is still there in all patterns! Signed off work and ran to a new Ophthalmologist. By then I had headache and nausea. She opened my pupil and did her tests, everything was just fine with my both retina, and right then I started feeling numbness in my right fingers and I tell her. She rushes me to a neurologist and get an MRI. The results were good thankfully and I was diagnosed with migraine. FINALLY I get a diagnosis!!! I have had disabling headaches for years and that light appeared once or twice. I dont know if the migraine is also related with blackness I had seen some years before, but I hope it does. And I hope this comment benefits someone else just like your video and advice did for me 💗💗💓

I fell you :) Eye surgery was the most traumatic thing I have experienced. Not the procedure itself, but the preparation and complications... :( I got prepped, disinfected with iodide, eye anesthesia, ect. My face was covered with a cloth, but then I had some sort of allergic reaction or panic attack, I started choking, every time I took a breath it felt like inside of my nose and face was burning. But the prep doctor said its normal, its just the smell of alcohol and left me on a table for about 40min. I couldn't see anything, but I could hear the radio that was on in the operating room, so I still had some sense of time. Then after 40min the doctor came in late and said that my anesthesia warn of and I had to experience everything ALL OVER AGAIN!!! The procedure then was quick and easy, i didn't think about the needle going in, because of all that breathing pain... However... it turned out that I indeed had a mild allergic reaction to iodide disinfection. It sort of burned my face skin and I developed Rosacea... For two years I had to be on antibiotics to calm my skin and heal veins on my cheeks. It all happened during high school graduation season and first year of university.... I would't wish this on my worst enemy...

Since you didn't mention the assumption of why these conditions might happened, I have to say something very disturbing that I noticed here in Portugal, I live here for 5 years now, I studied here AND worked in offices and labs and noticed - PORTUGEZE PEOPLE WORK IN DARKNESS! So it is more like a dim light - when you partly close the shade and not turn on the electricity light - rather then complete darkness, but it is completely impossible to me! i get headaches and teary eyes. Does that hurt our health to work like that - YES 100%, does it have anything to do with your story - I don't know, obviously I can't know for sure. But it is something important to be stated and to think about! My goodness you have so much great sunlight here, WHY IN THE WORLD DON'T YOU USE IT? Any ways other then that I love Portugal and I love you, I am glad that you are all better now (:
