✅ About jlwii2000:
When I started my channel I did not choose a catchy name because I did not think that I would be a major model railroading video source one day, so I apologize for the strange name. My channel has a variety of info about Model Railroading in many scales, primarily HO scale. I try to respond to everyone's questions to help them along with their journey. Overall, I hope my relaxed yet descriptive approach to modeling will assist those new and old in this great hobby. - James

As a youngster in 1950 I had the silver EMD locos and passenger cars. Was in UP markings but not Armour yellow. I guess I did not know much then. Spent 33 years at EMD until I retired. Hate to think how many locos I had a hand in building. Family went Pennsylvania RR museum maybe 40 years ago and we did a tour of the turntable. I asked the guide about the case & Pan assm for A/B engines rusting in the yard and he wondered how I knew what they were. When I started EMD was finishing the DD40`s. I had a hand in 567, 645 ,710 and H engines.

As a life long Lionel aficionado I am very happy to see that Lionel is still able to survive - I just wish that your support of older products were better supported! I recently opened up brand new in the boxes pieces that I bought 18 years ago, only to find out they didn't work!! One was the Lionel Ltd. Ed. Backshop - (what a total piece of junk) and the other was the original ZW-C (with 2 180 W PH's) that only works on 3 of the 4 channels. Lionel has no support for these what so ever - but I also blame myself as I bought them 18 years ago and never opened them up. I DO wish Lionel good luck in the future and I am glad to see at least some production come back to the USA.

Thank you James for a very nice look behind the scenes at one of the countries oldest model train manufactures, Lionel. One thing I noticed that seemed odd to me, Lionel did not have a person in the lobby of their headquarters. All the companies I worked for, had someone at the main entrance to sign for packages, accept mail and page employees when sales reps, etc entered the building. Thanks again James for this look behind the scenes. Cheers, Rich S.

I live in central PA close to where the Weaver factory was. I was there a number of times over the past decades including 6 times in the last several weeks (I saw Lionel reps there on one of the days) as they were preparing to close up for good. Visitors could walk around in the facility, talk to the workers and watch the production. Everyone was so accommodating. The pad printing process that Weaver used produced some really nice designs but the process at the new Lionel plant is so much more intricate and can produce such a variety of color schemes, very impressive. I mention Weaver because the LionScale line are the past Weaver cars. I own 50 or so Weaver cars. I miss that place. All the best to Lionel.

About a few years ago I had a lionel lionchief plus mikado, and it broke 15 minutes into usage after it came out of the box, since it was still under a warranty I sent it back to get fixed cuz I still liked the engine, then when I got it back it went a centimeter forward & stopped then it started smoking in places it wasn't supposed to then I sent it back for a full refund, then I've been running the old postwar diesels & steamers & they've been great these far with eh occasional cleaning & maintenance myself. for the price of one mikado, I bought 3-5 old postwar engines & they seem to be working well, the e-units on these things are a little problematic tho.

Hi I am also in the UK, and my first experience of Lionel trains was way back in 2012, with a Christmas locomotive set, primerly as a tree set. But even though this was a "Cheaper" set I then researched further, watched a few videos on KZfaq, Eric's Trains, I was instantly hooked, researched further for discounts etc. And eventuality found Trainworld.my layout is not very large compared to those shown on various websites in the USA where they have huge space's. I have now over Twelve locomotives that are Lionel Legacy command, although I can only run two at any one time, I rotate them every so often. But get a lot of pleasure out of the diorama side, if you are into model trains, then these are top notch, but very very expensive. My wife of 50+years is not always happy with what I have spent over the years on model trains, but since I'll health I had to give up motorcycling and scuba diving, and I am only 73. Every man needs a hobby.🙄 Any way kindest regards.

Mr. Hitchcock, thank you for creating terrific products. Please, work on quality control. Stop using inferior parts, use the older reliable parts. Especially on the couplers. Get rid of the button tabs. The trains come apart causing accidents, resulting in other broken cars. They also short out on the center rail. Thank you

So, a good question to have asked James would be: are kids putting down their tablets and cell phones and getting back into model trains? The US has Lionel and Britain has (Triang) Hornby. Both even marketed each others products in the mid 1960's. Rovex Limited (the actual company behind the Triang Railways / Triang Hornby / Hornby Railways brand) licenced and scaled down to 00 the Lionel ducking giraffe car, exploding box car and the helicopter launching flat car during the 1960's during a technology exchange. At the time Triang Railways / Triang Hornby were the world's biggest international model railway manufacturer in TT, 00 and 12 Inch gauge railways. It all went bad in 1971 and Rovex Limited was separated from Triang and sold to Dunbee-Combex-Marx to be rebranded Hornby Railways.
