If you think $6500 is expensive, welcome to EU where including tax A1 is 7300 EUR, which is equal to roughly $8800. I spent less than the difference between the prices for a month trip all over South Korea including flights. And I wasn't even on a budget.😂😂 $3899 for R5 is just laughable to me, coz here it's $5700 and kinda makes you think twice.

I'm getting the a1 without a doubt. I am a Wildlife Photographer and my most common subjects are Birds. I currently use the a9II which is a fantastic Wildlife Camera with it's 20fps speed and great Focus Tracking. However it's biggest struggle is getting a good Focus on Birds. Most of the time I end up using Manual Focus or Flexible Spot to get the shot when they're perched or standing. Then Wide Tracking when they're in the air. So the biggest thing for me is the Dedicated Bird Tracking in the a1 that has made me super excited. The 20fps with Lossless Compressed or Uncompressed will allow me to be able to shoot the same rate as my a9II that currently shoots in Compressed. So I will be able to shoot the same speed but with a lot more information saved per shot. And the 50.1mp will be great for being able to Crop more comfortably if I need to. I'm not too worried about ISO noise since that I usually shoot with below 1000 ISO. With the new Sensor though, hopefully the ISO Cleanup will be just as good. Plus the filming features makes it great for my job as the cinematographer for my Dad's Art Courses if we go out to the field. Just all in all everything I want/need in a Camera to help with my workflow. Cannot wait for this Beast. Currently selling my a9II for this and hope to get the a1 by launch day :)

Same, I got the A7R4 last spring and it has been great. While I'd love to have the A1, the only advantages I see over the A7R4 are the faster readout of the electronic shutter and 8K video, neither of which I have a use for. I don't shoot video and mainly do wildlife photography. No screen blackout during burst shots is not worth $6500 to me, and the faster readout of the electronic shutter doesn't apply to my wildlife photography. I've only needed my A7R4's silent shutter when I'm in a blind and super close to animals as to not scare them with shutter sounds. This is rare, and always with stationary or slow-moving animals, so the A7R4s electronic shutter does just fine and there are no rolling shutter issues. A1 still looks like an awesome camera but seems geared more towards sports photographers and photojournalists who need the better electronic shutter or for videographers who want the 8K.

@@Kaisolostudio Ah, yes, I forgot about the bump in the 4K framerate on the A1. I can agree there. While I don't do much video, I was kind of surprised the A7R4 didnt have the 4K 60p. Heck my A99II is able to do 4K 30p and its pretty much the same sensor from the older A7R2, so you'd think the faster throughput and processor on the A7R4 could have handled the 60p.

I'm like 95% sure I'll definitely get whatever iteration of this camera that's out in the future. The Sony a1 series is looks so amazing and even though it's $6500, I feel like it's a worthy investment for what you get out of the camera. For now though, I think I'll wait for the A7 IV or A7R V

i am not a full time professional so i am happy with my A7III i dont need something more. I do get paid for some work that i am doing now and then but i mainly use it for myself and my main company taking photos of dental stuff since i am a orthodontic technician ;).

I have been struggling with the idea of getting the a7s3 or canon R5 because of the cost but now they don't seem so bad, would love the A1 for sure as i do photo and video, more video but not professional enough to get paid much for it so they are over kill for now.

absolutely amazing. we do have A7S2, A7RM3, A7RM4 and A7M3 - I do not see any point to buy this at this stage with this price point. also, clients do not recognise the difference that much

I ordered it from B&H 3 minutes after it was put up for sale. I’m going to sell my a7Riv and my a9ii. I’m keeping the a7siii because it is a lowlight demon. It will be a delight to have only 2 cameras!
