I laced up some gloves and started hitting the heavy bag last year to relieve stress, get back in shape and learn some boxing fundamentals that I always wanted to learn. I’m glad I found your channel, coach! You are a great teacher and your lessons have been a valuable resource. I am in a better state mentally and physically, thanks in part to your teaching.

My epiphany of the "exit plan" came to me when I was practicing the peekaboo style. As I thought, why did Tyson always slip or weave after 2 or 3 punches? Then I remember the old quote from Bruce Lee films, "Boards don't hit back" People won't just stand there and let you hit them, they WILL retaliate at some point, and you need to be ready for those attacks and evade or counter them.

Coach, how do you structure resistance training with boxing in a week of training? What exercises do you perform most of the time?
@PrecisionBoxing
@PrecisionBoxing 2 жыл бұрын
That's a lot to write in a comment. I break it down in the membership, under Level 3 - Boxing Training Camps (Fight Week Series). You're basically looking at compound lifts for strength (injury prevention and maintaining strength), but separate exercises for power (sport specific). If you are a beginner then the strength can have higher reps as you learn technique (10-15), as you get more experienced you can reduce the reps to 4-8. Power is a bit different, you want to develop Rate of Force.

I only watched the highlights so I haven't really thought it through yet. What do you think? Haney's jab is hard to deal with. Kambosis will need to solve that puzzle to have a chance. Most likely he needs sharper head movement and to move forward more.

First of all a huge THANK YOU, I lost 14 kg's in the last 2 years thanks to your videos. I've a question, What is the difference between the Ultra Audio Combinations Training Package and the iOS precision boxing gold app? Precision boxing app also contains calls outs and combos. To support you, I actually bought the Precision boxing coach pro gold on android during some sale I loved it but I recently moved to iOS device the iOS app price is expensive than the android. Before purchasing it one more time wanted to know which one do you suggest, Purchasing the iOS precision boxing coach pro or Ultra Audio Combinations Training Package?

Thx for your support. The audio combos are pre-determined combos that I created. It's a great workout but its always the same. The app combos are based on an algorithm, so you never know what you'll get.

Warning long comment, I’m sorry but I’m also hoping it’ll still be read: Hey! Discovered you a few years back and still see some of your vids from time to time. I’ve never boxed before and this applies to in a boxing gym, in the ring, and shadowboxing so basically never done it ever. But I’ve been interested in combat sports for a while I just never got into it. Got a sedentary lifestyle at the moment but years back I would work out which consisted of bodyweight cardio, ab routines, and resistance training using bands and the few dumbbells I had. I would stay consistent for only a few months, stop, and go back after a long time and repeat and this happened like an on-and-off relationship. So basically I was far from lean, muscular, and athletic but at least I could do planks for 1 min, do mountain climbers, can do several ab exercises except for some lower ab stuff God help me, bodyweight exercises were alright except for push-ups, shoulder and bicep muscles can't be seen but were felt when flexed, forearms were more like firmarms, and I fit into more pairs of jeans at that time vs now. It’s been a while so obviously I have to ease myself into getting fit again before trying new stuff like boxing. Once I do try, I’m thinking of shadow boxing first and following some of your advice from your KZfaq shorts before buying equipment. The reason why I’m writing this comment is because my questions for you are: Is there a punching bag or heavy bag that’s universal aka made and can be used for all boxers with all levels of experience? Like is there a punching bag or heavy bag that all beginners/novices (aka never done it before), intermediate, experienced, and veteran boxers can use and it still provides a challenge instead of it being easier to fight against, even after all the time spent on it? Like a one-size-fits-all but for punching bags and heavy bags? Are there certain punching bags or heavy bags that are designed for both punches and kicks (because although I want to start with boxing I want to try other combat sports some day like Muay Thai, Kickboxing, BJJ, etc.)? Are there differences between punching bags and heavy bags or are they just different names for the same thing (like how powdered sugar is also called ‘confectioner’s sugar’ or ‘icing sugar’)? Not exactly rich enough to buy multiple equipment but a while back I did see this sale event and discounts for punching bags and fighting dummies at a sports shop near me (still can’t remember the brand and model names but if I do recall it I’ll update this comment with the names if you want). So if I’m gonna spend money on one thing I’m hoping it’s a bag that still stays effective and challenging as I progress and that bag can be kept around for usage for a long time rather than it just being something that becomes way too easy to use after a while and I’d end up having to buy a tougher bag as a result. And I’m hoping that I’ll find a bag that’s designed to take both punches and kicks since I want to try other combat sports in the future but only have enough money for one bag at the moment. Also I don’t know if this contributes in any way but I want to buy a punching bag or heavy bag not only because I wanna learn, practice, and be great at boxing like OP here but also because some days are just horrible. My other questions are: 1. Can one practice hitting against a punching bag or heavy bag using their bare hands without it resulting in any issues and injuries? I’ve seen people punch through bricks, stony walls, thick trees (as in there are holes and the trees break and fall apart), and other tough targets with just their bare hands and after that those people still ended up fine without any injuries, without any mobility issues, and without any body parts torn and broken. I’ve seen that also happen but with kicks too. I wanna be that strong and immune when hitting stuff with my fists and limbs. 2. Is there some sort of criteria or set of standards to consider in buying the right boxing gloves meant for you? Same question but with hand wraps as well. And a question for both gloves and wraps is, is there a one-size-fits-all-kinds-of-boxers for them (because if I don’t know if I’ll have enough money to buy more punching bags or heavy bags in the future, than what more with gloves and hand wraps)? Wait can any kind of hand wrap be used for Muay Thai, Kickboxing, and other combat sports or are there specific, different hand wrap variations made for each combat sport? 3. When practicing against a punching bag or heavy bag (still don’t know if they’re different from each other so if they are, please provide answers for each type), do you use boxing gloves only or hand wraps only? If punching bags and heavy bags can be used with both gloves and wraps, is there a way to know when you should use gloves and when you should be using wraps? 4. What are the differences from using boxing gloves vs hand wraps like are there different results when using them? If there are, is there a way to get the best of both worlds? Because I just wanna be like Thanos when he was getting all those stones and being way too powerful. 5. Is there a connection between buying a punching bag or heavy bag AND buying boxing gloves and hand wraps (kinda like how one should buy a tennis racquet for hitting a tennis ball instead of buying a baseball bat for hitting a tennis ball)? Like is there a specific type of glove or wrap you should get based on the punching or heavy bag you’ll buy? 6. Are there other stuff I should consider and research on when it comes to buying boxing gloves, hand wraps, and a punching bag or heavy bag? Would any of buying them depend on factors like age, height, weight, etc.? My hands move fine and are a bit flexible but there are some times when I do need to crack some knuckles and click finger and wrist bones here and there but nothing of my hands has ever hurt before, during, and after doing all that so would any of that affect what I should buy? To anyone that read this, it’s much appreciated. To anyone that read this and dropped helpful advice, thank you for your time and help.
@triton6083
@triton6083 2 жыл бұрын
I would recommend you look into purchasing training gloves so you don’t mess up your hands. You can easily practice punches/footwork on your own combined with cardio. A heavy bag and a fast bag will help your punches after you learn the basics so if you can afford it then go for it.
@twentyonetortas5921
@twentyonetortas5921 Жыл бұрын
@@triton6083 what's a fast bag? is it that round balloon-looking one? what brand of training gloves should I use (maybe that sports shop still has it)? is your training gloves suggestion in your reply telling me to find training gloves for boxing only or telling me to find training gloves that can be used for other martial arts too (I'm looking for training gloves that can serve for boxing AND all martial arts instead of just one form of fighting bc again I'm not rich)? when should I get those round boxing gloves and what weight should I get them (I heard they go 16 oz or more so where do I start)? Which brands and models should I get for the heavy bag and the fast bag? I'm still looking for a bag that's meant for boxing + can also be used for kicks in other martial arts AND that bag will still challenge me even when I progress and get better at boxing after a long while because it's not like I have enough money to go "let's go buy a new one" if a bag has become way too easy to punch, kick, hit, and use as I progress. If I'm gonna spend money, I'd rather do it once for a bag that serves what I'm after for a long time until I'm rich enough to think it's ok to go shopping for another one that's tougher in case I progressed enough and reached the point where I have to shop. I'm also asking brand and specific models for the heavy bag and fast bag because maybe that sports shop sells those who knows. Thanks for the advice on where and how to start before I use any bag. Also when do you know and how can you tell if you're ready for punching against a bag? Like you can see obvious signs of progress as you grow when you compare yourself to how you first started but is there a sign that says "you're already great and perfect at punches and footwork now and you shouldn't just keep doing those only, you should also try bag(s) now"? Let me know if there are answers for the two paragraphs of questions that are under the "my questions for you are:" part and if there are answers for Other Questiosn 1-6. Thanks for reading my comment and replying with some advice even though my comment is long.
