Do Or Do Not There Is No Try! When it comes to self defense either you run or you enter the middle ground is the most dangerous. Kevin Goat talks about how to deal with an expandable baton. These are extremely cheap and dangerous weapons knowing how you would react and building strategies to deal with long-range weapons is very important.

Great tipps, thank you for that. Also I would like to add somethiing for the rest (you guys for sure already know this): If you can't get in all the fight, try at least to come behind the first third of the stick as that's it's strongest point. In the middle it's at least better and on the last third (the one in his hand) your bones should be fine as it's the weakest point. I wouldn't bet that the bones will be able to hold the force of the fist third.

The attacker didn't know how to use the baton, the arm was too far out.

Awesome. Straight forward and can be applied to empty hand attacks. I love the snaking for arm lock applications if it presents itself.

Nobody will attack you with a wide open circular top down movement, but with faint and side whopping movement, You gonna get hit, that's almost impossible to avoid. In real life this kind of 'tutorials' are inefficient.

People out here watching this like they’re ever going to have to defend themselves from an expandable baton

Could be a stick, pipe, metal rod, or anything similar. The concept isn’t limited to an expandable baton. When I was driving home recently, I saw a guy who looked angry trip over something on the side walk. It was like a short piece of rebar, he swung it around, and then put it under his jacket. You never know

Also there's principals here more than just the technique being taught. That's why he says it may not work.
