There is a setting you can change so that cities always build roads in a 3x3 grid, also available in a 2x2. Best part, all the cities share the same world grid so no matter how far apart the cities are, their grids will always sync perfectly, if you care about a big worldwide grid anyway :)

I wasn't aware the grids worked that way, glad they do because I have some plans for growing a city for a video in the future :D

I like the added challenge, plus I mostly play on multiplayer and there aren't many active servers on JGRPP

How are you able to build track while paused? My game never lets me do that...

You have to toggle it on in settings. Search for "When paused allow" and set it to "all actions".
