I'm mixed about it. The change to allow all C-Store/Fleet starships playable was expected and welcome. I also made a TON of EC from expecting this change and selling DPRM consoles at 10x the price I paid for them weeks prior -- so that was nice I guess? I feel bad for newer players that realize there is a HUGE chasm now for trying to get the "good" stuff from lootboxes, in that they won't really be on the exchange much at all -- and that they have to go and find private trade channels to get them.

@@CounterYoloGaming Yup. This basically widens the gap between even the average good player and the elite players/vets. Cryptic really needs to do something about these must have traits/equipment that's not part of the Rep/Event/Zen store.

Well there goes faction uniqueness then if feds can get kdf ships. Could spell the end of kdf fleets. They were struggling enough for numbers in game as it is. Im strongly against this. The factions will just end up being the same with all the same consoles and ships. I think this will be my last year in sto after 5/6 years playing the game as its going nowhere apart from just plugging new ships month after month without giving us anything worthwhile content wise.

KDF players are losing interest, yes, but not because of this "muh uniqueness" stuff. It's because the YotK stuff has been a massive let down. I'd be happy to, as a KDF player, have access to a few federation ships, as long as KDF ships are still being released. Ignoring the need for a legendary KDF pack for this long, and flatly refusing to make KDF or even Romulan versions of the deluge of federation ships we've been buried under has been a factor in my going from intense daily play to just logging in to complete events.

So years of lootboxes and an increasingly impossible economy didn't phase you. No No, this one change about Faction uniqueness, suddenly everything is lost! That's a bit ridiculous to me. Klingons were only introduced for the sake of conflict, and then they didn't know how to make that conflict good. This change won't change anything because most people aren't fans of Klingon ships. However for the roleplaying parts, this opens up all kinds of situations like, stolen Excelsior class and stuff. There's no secret after all that at high level, PvE is not particularly fun at all in STO. It's the low levels that feel fun and balanced. As for the mythical sensation of content - People desiring content have been the death of many great MMO's out there. If you cannot make your own fun within the game, then why are you playing an MMO? I know MMO's have changed over the past 20 years but in the start, MMO's were never about following a set story. It had it's own meta events and story going on, but you were just a character among many. You set out to do what it was you wanted to do because you wanted to experience the world and make friends. Not like modern MMO's where it's Single Player RPG Experience in a MMO environment. Point is, that if removing the barrier between Klingon and Federation is your sticking point, I think you should re-evaluate the reason for playing.

Thx for this summary of thinks we can expect in 2021 in STO. Nice overview. I personally are excited for the event campaign, IF there is a promo ship to gain. Atlas OK, but sometimes even a budget player gets access once to this, but spending 300 bucks for a promo is so rediculous, that I really hope for that one. Please for the sake of the Founders ... bring back the Temporal Agent recruitment event some time in this year ... it was literally the best recruit since the game started. Legendary D'Deridex, Legendary Scimitar, Legendary Valdore (Mogai, Norexan, whatever), Legendary Negh'Var, Legendary Bortas'Q ... visually updated TNG S3-S7 uniform (!!!!!) ... nuff said. :)

I've admired that QeHpu'-class's appearance every since it's release, to me it encompasses what a smaller Klingon ship would look like very nicely. The proposal of a Lobi/LB/Promo starships complete factions-crossover would be perhaps the most significant change in STO that I can remember. I'm only in the 200s with the Endeavor system, guess I'm a turtle. I hope Cryptic continues the "Alliance" ships trend, I enjoy that Khitomer Alliance Battlecruiser. I'm a bit of a Cryptic cynic anymore but I looked at their "Legendary character boost packs are doing great" remark as a positive marketing tactic akin to a "doth thou protest too much" trying to push a "truth", but only Cryptic has the numbers so I could be wrong. I think it's Cryptic's marketing subtlely trying to squeeze-out more single Legend packs instead of a bundle so Cryptic can jam-pack it full of fluff pieces, so players will be buying item(s)/service(s) they already have, to inflate prices. Isn't there a Ferengi Rule of Aquisition about if a customer is willing to buy it once make them buy it again? Are there currently more players playing, probably as it is with the big event times. I'm just not seeing a significant growth of items on the Exchange really nor a quickening, "there can be only one", with my TFO count-downs to indicate a more active playerbase over the last couple of months. I'd think the B'rel would compliment Pilot seating myself but I'd enjoy a MW B'rel, but please have it in a bundle not a damn pack. I'd like seeing complete Breen & Xindi ships packs in Mudd's, but dang Mudd's is so expensive. & perhaps mostly importantly, good video!

Time to bring back the forge and exploratory planets. The game needs an expansion they can also get rid of the wall and make all sectors open. Have crew assemble button for the briefing room so they come in and take a seat. Change the beam location to the transporter pad on all ships. They could learn something from Starwars companions.

If they are planning to open the game up as far as you are suggesting, then Cryptic really needs to relook at Veterans rewards. As it stands right now as it is. There really no reason to pay..... Just saying

Personally don't see them opening it up that much all at once, look how many things got broken with just the T6-X patch and how long it took to fix all of them... And they are still issues with it present in the game. But if they do open it up, Veteran rewards and player loyalty should be something they need to look into preserving.

I'm not really qualified to cover torpedoes much, as I don't enjoy doing them (it is just the juicy after combat dps parsings that are cool; due to my color deficiency, I can't really see most torpedoes that fire in STO). If Cryptic changes how torpedoes are visualized so that someone like me can see them more easily in STO, I might venture more into that sphere (I like Sci-Torp builds as I like the science-y stuff that is easy to see, and the torpedo aspect is just a small part of it). Augmented Dictator Gaming is a great source for a KZfaq-style video for a deep dive into torpedoes (and other dps-heavy builds in general). If this is end of KDF fleets then they should be able to join Fed fleets in my case my KDF fleet is WAY lower level than my Fed fleet so iit seem like a good choice to drop my KDF fleet and have them join the higher fed fleet.

Removing factions completely would have been an option in the video (and ability to combine FED/KDF fleets in an armada), but they have repeatedly said factions were baked into the game's code on a fundamental level -- and fixing that would be about as extensive as just making STO 2.0. Would it be awesome just to see that? Sure, but I have tried to temper my expectations in this video to what I realistically think they would feel worthwhile to persue.

Taking away the DPRM console packs would be somewhat of a disaster, as most people won't be able to afford it even after a year of grinding 10 toons of TTG worth of EC. :-/ To be honest, with the game as it is now, the real winners are people, who play only 1-2 toons. With so many items being locked behind "one character only", people who actually enjoy the game and like to do some lite (role)play, have themed captains etc. - are screwed over, as you can eventually grind that one Atlas (though, if EVERYONE will want one, I expect its price will be north of 1.5bil, and won't be sold on the exchange anymore), there's no damn chance that one can grind 10-12 of them.

STO is dead in the water - the last real significant content was Victory is Life. Since then it's been mostly lockboxes and new missions and almost nothing in the way of new game mechanics. They are resting on the foundation they've built.

They already "revamped" the RRF stuff. They adjusted a few cutscenes, shortened a few of the missions, and added voiceover to just about all of the missions. The voiceover is the biggest emphasis, as the current EP wants to remove or hide all missions that lack complete voiceover of dialogue (and adding that would ensure the RRF missions stay). Did they really improve all that much besides the extra voiceover? Not much honestly.
