In this episode, I want to introduce the Newari Culture and Dashain Festival in Nepal.
I started off to a new country - Nepal!
My first stop is Kathmandu, the capital city which in mainly inhabited by the Newa Tribe, and at the same time it happens to be the Dashain festival, which is the largest and one of the most important festivals in Nepal.

bhairav is fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva, one of three major gods in Hindu, there are eight bhairav, and kaal bhairav is one of them.

Welcome to Nepal. Newar & china has long history goes back more then 1000 years ago. Before Nepal was united & there was kingdom of Nepal todays Kathmandu we used to do trade with china. our oldest friend country. That god is kaal bhairav. bhairav is reincarnation of lord shiva. when lord shiva get angry then he will take that form. It is believed that the people who speak lie in front of this sculpture would die. Kumari live freely inside. Her personal life is kept secret we don't know what god does do we? people don't know much about kumari & they start making their own false perception. Don't make wrong assumption kumari lives happy & healthy life inside.

@@littlechineseeverywhere Kumari get modern education inside. home tutor to make it simple. she even have to pass exam for all grade like normal kid. after she stop being goddess she can start her normal human life. Todays kumari can watch tv,play with smart phone like normal kids does. only there is few hours where she will be god. And in festival for a day. we try to make her life as smooth as possible. her every will is god words. we even give her pension for life. And even she is not kumari we newar give her equally respect like god coz there is no such thing as ex god.

Newars and China don't only have a trade relationship. It is highly likely Newars came to Nepal from provinces of China along Yangtze river valley. If you're Newar I suggest you to listen to Hangzhou dialect of Chinese Wu language. I guarantee you'll be shocked.

Did you know that Newa (Newari) language sounds quite similar to Jin Chinese and the Hangzhou dialect and Suzhou dialect of Wu Chinese? :) Especially the Hangzhou and Suzhou dialects of Wu and Newa language share very similar tones. Although Newa comes from Tibetan dialects as well, it is one of the only languages in South Asia that comes from old Chinese AND classical middle Chinese.

I wish you were able to observe the musical bands of Kathmandu valley. The style of music is called dhime baja and it is the traditional sound of festival processions in Newa community. No worries, you can also find many videos on KZfaq of excellent Dhime players and bands, there's also particular dance style that accompanies this music that you may see in some videos.

The popular black multi-armed goddess is Kali, the avenger. She is the dark side of a goddess of peace and healing who emerges to solve problems too great for the Lord Shiva, such as a demon no male could slay. She reminds people that vengeful women are a force to be reckoned with. (I keep forgetting the other name, Shiva's wife)

Other name is maa(mother) Parvati, sometimes people call her maa Durga. Kali is basically rampaging form of Durga. 3 forms also represent 3 gunns (qualities) of a person. Parvati represents Satwik gunn (Having self-control, wise, concentrated and compassionate). Durga represents Rajsik Gunn (Dominance, Energy, Excitement, Ego, ambition). Kali represents Tamsik gunn (Illusion, angry, attachment, confusion). In normal form, she exists in Satwik form Parvati, which is also her true form. To fight wrong doers, she changes to Durga form and when in Durga form, too much anger causes her to take Kali form in which she loses control.

In today's time in kathmandu Every old ancient sculpture or temple hindu claims that related to them which is totally fake cause hindu is only 500 years old in nepal many of the artitecture were build during kirat dynasty who were emperor of this land back then before nepal become nepal it used to be kirata desha that means the country of kirat people.(limbu,rai,yakkha,sunuwar,magar,gurung,even newar are related to kirat)but the education system of nepal is totally poor they only teach student about 300 years old history.kaal bhairav is also related to kirat not Hindu but them people worship kaal bhairav.kaal bhairav is said to be the king of kirat whose name is yela hang/yelung/yarlung. The government of nepal don't do proper reasearch in ancient stuff.

i think it's a norm to not point with your finger to places, religious figures (gods, deities) in shrines local people considered sacred, but rather using your palm like your are presenting something holy or honorable. It is a thing in Chinese culture too, don't you know?

Most Newars are Hindus and Newars just worships both Hindu and Buddhist gods. So you will find many Hindu temples with Buddhist gods and Buddhist temples with Hindu temples here in Kathmandu valley.

Sharing a concern. You saying "see you next time" and you put your hand over the lens. Somehow that bothers me, like a punch in the nose; too abrupt. You end all your you-tubes the same way. Perhaps there is a different approach to "cutting off the visual" like a gentle fade-out; or a star-dust dissolve. You are such a gentle person, your voice so kind. The abrupt "good-bye" doesn't seem to fit. Well, I see that you have a computer-laptop total film editing operation. I am sure there is a section for bringing the curtain down at the end of an episode. Yes? And. Yes. I noticed in this episode, how good you are with kids. Newar is indigenous of Nepal. Dashain is the festival of Hindu who ancestors killed indigenous people like thanks giving in western. Most indigenous stop celebrating this festival now a day
