Fun fact: This is the third time Captain Cook came up this year, alone, on Final Jeopardy. The first time was on Ben Chan's second game. The question was: James Cook’s account of a 1774 visit here records an object “near 27 feet long, and upwards of 8 feet over the breast or shoulders”. The next time was on Hannah Wilson's 8th game. The question was: Describing these, Captain Cook wrote, “the manner in which” they’re done “must certainly cause intollerable pain”..

honestly its not a fair rule They should tabulate the total and subtract his loses for his grand total. It's unfair because if two people have negatives the person with the smaller negative wins (always 2nd place because its never happend where all 3 finished in the negative).

the lady in the middle Jilana Cotter, blew 25,000. I completly get going for first to win it over not finishing in 3rd BUT she could have had an almost sure thing strategy by wagering $15201. If correct she'd have 39,201+3000 so 42,201and won. Even though it wouldnt have been a sure thing strategy because the leader could have wagered 0, it seemed extremly unlikely that theyd risk doing so and not being assured a win if getting it correct. It would also guarantee Jilana Cotter 2nd place (50,000) even if she got it wrong.

Never underestimate these contestants' uncanny ability to come up with the wildest, most far-fetched responses! Magellan? Magellan died in the early 16th century. Besides, if you are asked to name an explorer who was alive in 1774, James Cook should pop in your head instantly. In addition, James Cook's name has made a lot of appearances on Final Jeopardy lately. Not too long ago, he was mentioned in a FJ clue together with the year 1774 (Here we go again!) in connection with Easter Island.
