There is no difference in Udupi and Mangalore. In fact you get more better restaurant in Mangalore then in Udupi. Birth Cities are neighbours

If possible visit Big Fish Restaurant , Sena Bhavan Lane , near Kiohinor Square , Dadar (W). Newly started by Marathi actress Shreya Bugde famous for the Marathi TV show Chala Hawa You Dya. You will get opportunity to meet her since this restaurant newly started.

Wow another superb vlog Alka. Thali aur dal vada dono itne yummy lag rahe the. By the way, chawal ke upar jo brown colour ki mirchi thi, it's called curd chilli. Dahi chawal ke saath bahot tasty lagta hai.

Didn't see any drumstick or many vegetables in the sambhar. Most people don't like sugar or gur in it too . And without a good sambhar and coconut chutney South Indian food is zero .

Yes, there are 2-3 vegetables in the sambar and this is served with Udupi tiffin dishes usually. They add more vegetables while serving it with rice.

@@explorewithalka what I could see looked like the cheapest vegetable white pumpkin while you said it was Madras cucumber. At this price and quality I guess you should be thankful for whatever you get .

If the guy Panicker is the owner then that name originates in Kerala and so it cannot be authentic Udupi food unless the people working in the kitchen are from Udupi. Also, South Indian food is not good for daily consumption especially for growing children. It lacks nutrition and it makes you fat and short. Everything is made from rice and sometimes rice and urad dal. It is important to consume a variety of grains and dairy products especially if you are vegetarian. Fruits (except for bananas and mangoes) and nuts are also not common in their diet. Although, the guy says very little oil is added, the vegetables are cooked so much that all the nutrition is lost.

The owner handling the kitchen is from Udupi and hence the authenticity.... thank you for the info about diet and nutrition
